Hi, I'm Brian James "That M43 Guy", a sometime Professional Photographer who champions Micro Four Thirds format Photography and I'm also Entertainer (singer/multi-instrumentalist) from Brampton in Cumbria at the place where the lake District of England meets the Border with Scotland at Hadrian's Wall in the UK.

As a pro photographer I specialised in portrait, headshot, school, military and corporate photography. I’m also a former press officer/photographer for the RAF Air Cadets and Rotary International covering the Cumbria and Lancashire areas of the UK.

As a recreational photographer I love nothing more than photographing old buildings and structures such as churches and railways, especially those made in the vernacular architecture and then telling their story.

I'm an Air Force Veteran with 45 years uniformed service and I'm a committed and active Rotarian which deals with my altruistic needs in life, additionally I am a member of Border City Probus club.

This brought back some happy memories of family holidays camping in Tenby when I was much younger. I remember we were there in the famous summer of 76, to be honest it seems as I remember it, my late father was a keen photographer (I followed in his footsteps) so I must ask my mum where the slides are and we can hopefully fire up his old projector and relive some happy memories.

Very good video Brian, which tells the story well. One point, at around 4.28 you show a photo of Parry-Thomas's assistant (at that time) Reid Railton, but the man on the right is another record breaker that died trying to go one better on water, John Cobb. He's holding a model of the jet-powered boat that killed him, Crusader. Besides setting world LSRs, Cobb also did the fastest ever lap around Brooklands at 143 mph.

The video quality from the Pocket 3 is great -- I'm watching at 1080p -- are you shooting that or 4k? Don't mind you taking me along for a walking tour of interesting places -- two suggestions though -- the built-in mic (like most) isn't great in the wind -- did you get the wireless mic for the Pocket 3? And -- my own personal preference -- put breaks in your walking video for the places where you took the still photos and run through the photos there -- so at different points along the walk, instead of all at the end. Beautiful town!!!

@@aengusmacnaughton1375 no, I always shoot in 1080p 30fps as it makes the file size more manageable on my iPad and transfer times. Yes, I’m still in the learning phase with this camera. Hi Brian, Lovely video. Lovely Gothic Church. I have not seen flying buttresses like those...interesting and lovely. As I recall, I think that the original Hagia Sophia in Constantiople was the introduction of flying buttresses because of the massive size and height of the dome; I'm checking on that. It looks as though some of those massive trees have many stories held within them. Amazing histories behind such buildings, one's we do not have in The New World (of European ancestry.) I have a question: Could the "relic" stones on the sidewalk (4:25) be a very old crypt from a grave, perhaps at the time it was a monastery? The shape looks like a coffin. I remember seeing crypts (still in the ground but empty) 50 years ago in Provence. Even in 1975, it was a profound reminder of the short time we have alive...and I was only 21 then, and yes, by classmates & I did lie in them. BTW: Previously, I had not heard the name Tewkesbury until I was watching a couple of Netflix films, very loosely based on Sherlock Holmes: "Enola Holmes" and "Enola Holmes 2." Fun entertainment. There was a very attractive young lord, Lord Tewkesbury, who was a friend of Enola. Have not been to Great Britain so I appreciate this online, armchair tourism! Have you been to the island of Mull in Scotland? A monastery that was empty has been purchased and is now operating after sitting absent for 1000 years. A former parishioner from here is now a priest there. They have a small convent nearby. No room for guests however there are B&Bs nearby; I suspect there are probably caravan parks as well. Look up Mull Monastery and you will find their web site. Finally, don't know anything about vlogging equipment; that said, I am impressed with the quality of video and the internal mic. Safe travels to you and Mrs. Micro 4/3rds and your pups!

@@lensmanonline only thing I’d say up to now is that the go pro is an action camera so it’s weather resistant and physically tough. Although the build quality of the pocket 3 is excellent it is more fragile than an action camera in having a motorised gimballed head and it’s not waterproof. For what I do that’s absolutely fine and indeed much tougher than I expected it to be. But it’s a different beast in action situations. Thanks for the tour of Tewkesbury. I have heard of it, from a book I read when a teenager. Never went there, so thanks for sharing, Brian. Love the yellow stone work. The window tax, imposed in 1696, meant that people inbuilt their windows, if they had too many. This way they had less, and therefore paid less tax, and one reason why you can see ‘windows’ where they used to be on older buildings, including churches. Also concealed for security. Weren’t the Americans stationed there during WW2? I remember in my distant memory they had something to do with the place, and why an American was a benefactor. The new gadget did its job well!
