Is this a good card as my first Chase card? I have two other credit cards one with Discover one with capital one if I applied for this Amazon card will I be more likely to get denied since this will be my first Chase card?
The biggest draw for the Amex Checking and Savings combo for me is the checking account gets 1.0% APY, the highest rate for checking accounts in the industry. We all need to leave something in a checking account somewhere, so I keep it all in Amex. Streamlines my checking, savings, and credit accounts super well.
Dude, your vid here was just what I was looking for! I have the platinum and working on my $8K spend and I wanted to know what my wife should apply for to compliment the platinum card! Really appreciate the honest comments and after my spend for 15,0,000 points we'll go for the green Amex! Thanks!
Wow what an absolutely useless card so if the points are worth the basic around do you still have to spend at least $5,000 on travel or 15,000 on everything else just to break even with the annual fee definitely don't consider the clear credit worth 150.00 a year unless your company is paying for it
Just got the blue cash everyday as my 1st Amex. But am considering what card will be my step up and this card just might be it. Now way I’m paying $325 for the gold card!
I know right. The 250 annual fee was hefty to begin with. When I found out that next year I will be charged the new annual fee 325, I downgraded to the green immediately!
I downgraded from Platinum to Green. I was just so overwhelmed with the Platinum. Too much work to keep track of how to get the points. I couldn’t keep up. I wish the green was a lighter metal instead of the plastic. I was disappointed when I touched the plastic green card. That’s just me. The Platinum feels so good in your hand.
@@BillyBlakeington BBP 2X catch all card, gold 4x on dining and grocery, green 3x on all travel and transit. It covers literally every category. How does it not make any sense?
@Whoisbu89 , the combined annual fees. I had the BCP, gold, and green. I intentionally canceled my green right after I got it. I have the BCP as a authorized user from my husband. Loved my gold. Last week I applied for the BCP, it's on its way. This year ( as of yesterday) I downgraded my gold to green. I now have two BCP ( 12, 000 in groceries for the year) and my green card for dining and travel in my American express arsenal. I do have about 20 other credit cards. Citi custom cash is my 5 % back gas card. With no annual fee.
The green card do have its value; especially for those who want those points. However, there are some issues with getting this card. For starters, I would not recommend this, nor any Amex card, to anyone who is new to the credit card game. That's where "starters cards" come to play; card that have 0 annual fees, 0 apr for the first 12-18 months. Even with the starter cards, they either have better or compatible rewards to the Amex green card at 0 the price. And when compared to a travel card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP), the green card is dominated. The CSP have a $95 annual fee but you get a $50 hotel credit every year (which is IMO more valuable than the 100 lounge credit with the Green card). The gold card isn't that bad as you're getting 240 credit that should be used in food delivery that cuts down the annual fee from $250 to $10. Also, I have to agree with Cristian145, I thought that Amex made some great changes to the green card (which is why I watched the video); but it appears that the title was clickbait. In terms of possible changes, the word is that Amex may consider raising the annual fee on some/all their credit/charge cards. If they do that & change nothing to the green card, then this card would be close to worthless at that point. Another thing, even though it was never stated anywhere, I'm assuming that this is towards Amex value customers as there were only comparison amongst Amex charge cards (green, gold, regular platinum) & there was no mention of cards from other banks; which is a huge flaw since cards from other banks are just as popular & some are even better than Amex cards. I'm sorry, while I see value in getting the green card mostly when there's a limited time off sign up bonus; there are too many cards (one of them being the gold card) that are better than the green card.
If you’re currently paying for Clear and don’t have high enough status with a qualifying airline to get the price down to $150, then the Green card is a no-brainer discount on your Clear membership. Otherwise, you should really run the numbers and see if a different unlimited 2x points everywhere or a different no-annual-fee 3x travel card like the WF Autograph would fit your life better.
I really don’t think the green card works best for me, but because of how the sign up bonuses work now if I want to get into the American Express point system one sort of needs to begin with the green card. Might be worth trying for at least a year or two. Great video~
I have all 3 and got the SUB for all 3. At some point I might cancel the Platinum, as this Green with the Gold is a great combo. It sucks that gas is 1X, otherwise I might add the Amex Everyday Preferred for 2X, but the math doesn't add up because of the $95 AF for that card.
@@JamesKealohi1 Oh right! I just feel uneasy not having a business, but I have seen people get it without one. But yeah that one would complete the trifecta.
Also worth mentioning that if you get the Gold or Platinum because of the life time language you can’t get the SUB on the green. The strategy to maximize SUBs is Green > Gold > Platinum
Sorry, but you are incorrect. You get 5x on the Platinum whether you book with the airline or with American Express travel. Where the green card stands out is hotels, Transit, cruises, and other types of travel where you can book directly with them. Very informative otherwise
I have a secondary debit card, small retirement savings with CIBC. Would it make sense to get the CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite over the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite? I feel like there’s not much difference between the two. I’m planning to pair one of these to my AMEX Cobalt.
Both are pretty much identical. Biggest difference right now is the welcome bonus. CIBC requires $15K spend in the first year but waives the annual fee. TD is $10K in the first year but you pay the annual fee.
@@FahadFinance Yeah currently for CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite: - You get 20,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $6,000 or more during the first 4 monthly statements periods. - 20,000 Aeroplan points as an additional anniversary bonus when you have at least $15,000 in net purchases posted on your account during the first 12 monthly statement periods. (I think CIBC is attainable since I will have an upcoming wedding expenses I can put on the card, so $6000 to $10000 (solely for the wedding) spend in the first 4 months is doable for me) Whereas TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite offers: - Earn 20,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $6,000 within 180 days of Account opening. - Plus, earn a one-time anniversary bonus of 20,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $10,000 within 12 months of Account opening.
Been a AMX member for over 30 years. Started out with the green which I kept for over 10 years have also had the blue, gold, and now the platinum. One of the best CC companies around IMO. A great travel, and restaurant card. The customer service is top notch compared to their "peers." I "don't leave home without it."
Hey Fahad , really nice video! I was wondering if I could help you enhance Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail which will help your video to reach to a wider audience .
