Hey Rod, we call that size mackerel candy here in southern California. Slow troll or live life line cast it at breaking fish. Usually a bite off leaving just the head is the work of the sea lion around here. We also get the humpback whales migration here, awesome sight indeed.

Great vids as always Rod. Loosing pets is always tough, new pup seems like he is rdy for fish tho 🤙 You need to get yourself a kill bag for all these big tuna and mackerel you catch! I use a medium one most of the time for my fish on the boat and also have a big one for fish like that.
