3rd season was disappointing. You learn nothing. 60% of the show is characters staring at each other and no dialogue. You never learn why or how anything happens.
I feel like Hollywood just does weird stuff. Like scenes of cis white guys with guns shooting things but with no other intent other than to make white men be the creators of loss and that’s all the viewer gets is that image burned into their brain. Another example is shows that bring in Nazi are bad themes with zero context at all to the main theme of the show. It’s like Hollywood just creates shows in order to drop in strings of morality into the shows, since the show themselves typically have weak plots that can’t be followed.
I don’t think Nora went through. I want to believe her story, but I just can’t. She had been specifically told not to breathe in the metals so she was holding her breath and waiting. Then suddenly had a panicked look, opened her mouth, and it looked like she was about to scream, “Stop!” The only person who could have revealed the truth to us was Matt and he’s dead. If I came back from the other side my first stop would be to the scientists who sent me through so I could tell them what they’re doing is working and provide them that comfort. Obviously Nora was pretty traumatized at this point so I don’t blame her for not doing that. But I find it hard to believe that if they did have a machine on the other side that they sent her back in, that nobody else would pop back over and be like, “hey guys, we lived through the journey, also everyone who departed is alive, all is well👌” and that it wouldn’t become worldwide news.
The top comment says it all, “criminally underrated “ and I would add “criminally overlooked.” I just decided to do a rewatch, that is the substance and meat on the bone of this show. I am not a big fan of lists where you name your #1 thing, but I am pretty sure this my #1…. Can’t say for sure, but it seems that way.
No kidding. I had never even heard of this show and only found it when scrolling through HBO max. It is also rated so well, why is it not more popular and more talked about ??
One of the greatest shows ever created,its funny that the "just stop Oil" activists have striking similarities to the guilty remnant.... this show needs to be rewatched again for its importance.

People are overreading into the show Such a crap series , there is nothing in it at all ... season 1 ends & 10 hours of time wasted , there is just nothing... just keep watching random shit , no ending no story no meaning

Some have speculated that The Leftovers is about Faith. I agree but I'm going to channel some Yuval Harari...we humans invent stories...we invent myths in order to explain why things are happening. There is an element of Survivorship Bias...only the living get to make these stories and myths. The dead don't get a vote. These stories and myths try to explain what and why we are experiencing events. Usually a tragedy, catastrophe...or maybe why the cow died. Why the cow died can devolve into mere superstition. "Father, why do we sacrifice the goat." "Son, so the the rains will come." "Father, let's not sacrifice the goat and see if the rain will come." "Son, No, we can't risk it." We tell stories to comfort ourselves; to tell ourselves we understand how the world works. But we don't really know.
Might be an idea to put a self-harm/suicide trigger warning at the start of the episode (and warn that you see a suicide happen graphically) to warn people about Patti’s suicide. I think someone said people can be more like to be influenced if they actually see it on screen (I’m not sure if I got that right though, I’m no doctor and my memory can be poor). Sorry I’m just a worrier, the video is amazing seriously.
Mediocre show. Got pretty boring several times. I'm watching this video because I'm too bored with the show to keep watching but want to know the ending. Also, your sound cuts out during every instance when you try to show in show conversations except Matt's take with Nora...very annoying and could have been easy to edit out
No I don’t think so. The audio cut out in the video at least one other time too. It happened in parts where the channel added clips of the show so it must have just been an error of some kind
This show had potential & moments, but man is it a wildly overrated series. Spins it’s wheels too much. Crazy boring sequences. Liv Tyler is an absolute terrible actor. Just a total mess.
