My goal behind creating this channel is to share my everyday work experiences with the world. I am a Network Engineer and been in this field for around 19 years or so. I use RU-vid a lot when it comes to learn something new for my work. I thought of to do the same for like minded folks. What good is my knowledge if I keep it to myself. Also I felt to give back of something that I have received from other RU-vidrs. Kudos to those who take time to make good tutorials.
Hi, Thank you for the nice video very helpful. i am looking for some help in deployment Palo Alto and Aruba Edge connect together in Azure Vwan. If you have time can we discus about the design.
Nice video. Question: Does the switch maintain its configurations through the upgrade (VLANs, LDAP, etc) or does it need to be reconfigured as though it’s a new switch?
That is correct. Configuration remains in flash and gets loaded in ram. For a firmware upgrade if you are making a huge jump, some commands may not work. Vlans are in a different file so yes running config remains unchanged.
Hi there could you please assist I’m very interested in doing Aruba homelabs and configuring core switch and edge switch of Aruba and and also learning how to configure the ap is there a guide you can provide for me to be able to do all or some of those things . Thank you for your time.
I can only do these lab because of having access to devices and licensing. Aruba CX switches can be learned using virtual images. That is free but rest will all require licensing.
@@TwT101 hi I have access to the license but I’m struggling to set it up with the right for the switches we have in my work place 3810m for core and 2540 for edge so can you please telll me which imgage I need . As the Aruba cx I have on GNS3 is different
@@TwT101 could I please get your email . I am aware of the Aruba cx doesn’t have the 3810M but how can I implement it on GNS3 if I can get the image etc . Thank you for your time .
Hi there firstly great video it was very informative.I have a question could you please tell me how I can set this up so I can learn as we have lots of Aruba switches in my work place and will very soon be working with the switches and configuring them . Thank you for your time .
I am not sure if i missed something in the video (i have rewatched a few times) but why the first time you applied the stacking why did it not hold correct order after the powerdown? But did the 2nd time.
I was simulating a power outage and mistakenly pulled power on standby first, hence standby came up before Commander. Later I did a boot system so the whole stack restarted and I was able to show that the commander stayed commander. Are you getting certified? Let me know what other Aruba products you have worked with.
@@TwT101 Ah thanks for explaining! No not getting certified, I have a deployment coming up that uses 4 of these Switches in a Stacked Configuration, I’ve worked with these series of switches before so I’m just brushing up on my knowledge a bit. Only other Aruba products I actively use is the Aruba Instant-On switch series.
Thank you so much... This is exactly my task this weekend. We have a PO with Aruba sw6200f stack. I'm trying to convert our Cisco switch configure to Aruba to see if Aruba is a viable alternative. This was very helpful. Do you have any videos on QOS on Aruba?
Thank you so much for your review. What QoS configuration are you looking for ? Usually if you are not overwriting the QoS markings, trusting dscp and cos does the job at switching level.
I truly lack this side with sounds, effects and other aspects of making videos. I hope the topic helped you in learning. I will attempt to do better for sure.
Thanks so much! im going to give this a try this week! we have an appliance that keeps hanging up and getting an RMA for it, will let you know how it goes!
Truly enjoyed this video and the config-sanity command at the end. Only downside was the poor audio. It made watching the video very challenging until I enabled the cc feature.
Lots of background humming noise from servers. To hide that, I thought music would be nice. Again it's just the aesthetic, that shouldn't affect learning the concept. If you have questions please let me know.
If you have the switches configured and connected, stack can be built using SSH as well. In most cases this is done during 1st setup process, hence mostly done using console. I build the base config, build the stack and mgmt ip using console, then I blast rest of the config using SSH as it goes in faster this way. Hope this helps .
Don't you need to set "spanning-tree vlan 1-3967 root" on the Core2? Also what about the access layer switch and setting spanning-tree for a lower priority - same VLAN groups ?
This is an old way of doing load balancing. Even vlans root be in core1 and odd vlans root will be core 2. Even vlans SVI will be active on core1 and Odd clans SVI will be primary on core 2. Things have improved a lot since then. You can do an active gateway where both cores are actively responding for the gateway role.
Thanks for your video. one question:do i have to concern about DZ controller size. as my AP terminate in PZ : for example if i 100 ap , do i need also to buy for DZ controller to support for 100 AP
You shouldn't be thinking about the sizing of DZ controller. It's the vendor who will be doing it. But for all 100 APs yes they will have to size the controller accordingly. Remember it's their SSID and if they need RF and pefng they will have to buy those licenses as well. Most of the time it's a smaller group of APs used for multizone. For example at the shopping mall Levi store only need a set of APs near Levi store front to broadcast SSID and not all over the mall. Hence DZ controller size usually much smaller. Hope this helps.
I have upgraded thousands of Cisco switches during an ISE deployment project. 1st day of that project one 3750x didn't come back up after the upgrade. That changed everything. Since then we added an extra step. Pre-upgrade reload to rule out HW issues. Once the switch came back up from that reload, we proceeded with ios upgrade. Are you afraid that the switch might not boot back up after so many days of running ? Let me know
If we bought the Hardware Appliance Mobility Master, it should be pre-installed with the MM licenses right? For example, if we have MM-HW-5K, then it should have 5000 MM pre-installed in it, right?
Hi Aditya, Yes you are right, If you've purchased HW-5K you are now licensed to talk to 5K devices, e.g mobility conductors, AP' RAP's etc.. If you hadn't purchased the HW and went with virtual appliance for MM, You would've needed MM-VA-XX license to able to license X numbers of devices. I am so sorry to answer this so late. Hope it helps.
Unfortunately Aruba AOS doesn't have the command but they included that in new Aruba CX switches. Also context sensitive help sucks for AOS switches. For example if you are in interface config mode Aruba-3810M(ethe-1)# ? It will show you all possible commands available in config mode. Hope this answers your question.
Could you explain in more details about Eavesdrop Prevention. You mentioned to disable it on untagged ports, but what happen if you don't disable it? Thanks in advance and great info.
Devices like printers are not talkative, so their Mac times out while arp entries remain on L3 interface. New packet destined for that printer from that vlan or a different vlan will use arp to identify the switch where that printer was connected. It will be a unicast and directly sent to the switch. Switch won't have that Mac on it's cam table and for security it will drop it. Unknown Mac broadcast it would've forwarded out all its port but unknown unicast is blocked by default. Let me know if it makes sense
@@TwT101 So disable Eavesdrop Prevention on ports that are connected to printers, but okay to leave it enabled on ports connected to computers? What about ports that are configured for STATIC and LIMITED-CONTINUOUS, what 's the best practice?
@@chasuav I would disable eavesdrop prevention on all ports unless you have printer connectivity defined for printers j. Your organization. I also believe this was fixed at a later AOS version. Please check. Limited-continuous is a feature where until the Mac address limit is reached the switch will continuously learn mac-addresses but once reached then it will stop learning new mac-addresses. Kunal@tutorialswithtips.com let me know about you, your current role, if you are new to Aruba and future goals.
Man, I feel you. You probably on the same boat as me. Python and I have a love hate relationship. I don't do it enough to get this burned it. Hence I forget. I am glad this video has helped you. Keep up the good work brother.
Hello Dear I need support on A5120,product no: JG237A I have tried all methods shown in search engine , I forgot user name and password ,I tried to reset but no result , It shows undo password and password compatible disable , Please help me out for above subject
How Rahim, this looks like an old switch. So found quick google search result that might be of help. community.hpe.com/t5/Comware-Based/Resetting-5120-to-default-factory-settings/td-p/6020893#.YuxUeLdOnqs
What if we need to undo what the RMA wizard just did? For example; put the faulty device back in the list of devices and put the RMA device back in "Appliances Discovered".
There is no such process to reverse this. You can leverage backup and restore to put the old unit back. Old unit was removed from Orch by RMA process so just take backwards steps . But my question is why would you want to do this ?
@@m.ammarraza3957 these are real hardware switches from Cisco and Aruba. Newer Aruba Aos-cx switches does have a virtual option that you can download and install on VMware esxi.
@@ushavingfun6426 Thank you sir for such a kind attitude, sir i have Aos-Cx installed in gns3 integrated with vmware but not all the configuration commands as i was taught by my teacher in physical Aruba switch are not running on this logical switch
@@m.ammarraza3957 you are right, Aos-CX is the new class of switches and different from previous Aruba AOS switches when it comes to commands. Remember to try the ? After your commands to find out what is allowed as a valid command. For example there is no reload command in AOS cx it's boot system
Really good video. how to get in touch with you? I planning to run aruba wireless bootcamp and need help with someone create course materials. I have many controllers running OS 8 wiand clearpass with lincence.
