Cisco and Aruba Switch Commands- Side by Side 

True, I have enjoyed Aruba OS right after I got through trunk vs trk difference. Context sensitive help, you know the " ? " After a partial command to see what possibly goes after , that is still better in Cisco, at least to me. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks for you nice comment. Keep learning....

Indeed. In most cases except Port channels are called Trk and don't get that mixed with Trunk.

Thank you so much for your review. What QoS configuration are you looking for ? Usually if you are not overwriting the QoS markings, trusting dscp and cos does the job at switching level.

Nabeel You can also use the aaa command below to create level-15 user that will work with ssh. aaa authentication local-user group Level-15 password plaintext hit enter and it will prompt you to enter password and retype.

Devices like printers are not talkative, so their Mac times out while arp entries remain on L3 interface. New packet destined for that printer from that vlan or a different vlan will use arp to identify the switch where that printer was connected. It will be a unicast and directly sent to the switch. Switch won't have that Mac on it's cam table and for security it will drop it. Unknown Mac broadcast it would've forwarded out all its port but unknown unicast is blocked by default. Let me know if it makes sense

@@TwT101 So disable Eavesdrop Prevention on ports that are connected to printers, but okay to leave it enabled on ports connected to computers? What about ports that are configured for STATIC and LIMITED-CONTINUOUS, what 's the best practice?

@@chasuav I would disable eavesdrop prevention on all ports unless you have printer connectivity defined for printers j. Your organization. I also believe this was fixed at a later AOS version. Please check. Limited-continuous is a feature where until the Mac address limit is reached the switch will continuously learn mac-addresses but once reached then it will stop learning new mac-addresses. Tagged ports are trunk ports in Cisco term, where you carry multiple vlans. Trk is equivalent to Cisco Port-Channel. Trk is where you bond bunch of cables to connect 2 devices for redundancy and higher throughput. Now one trk could also be tagged port just like a Port-Channel could be trunk. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately Cisco doesn't give you power on/off switch. Pull the plug is the only option. Aruba is same way. I guess its there way of making sure you dont accidentally bump into the switch and hit the power button, Not sure whats the main reason behind not having a power button. Its just not there. So pull the plug. Dont forget to hit the like and subscribe button !!

No Graham. there is not one exactly like that. You can log all (level=info) msg and display them in reverse order to view them. "Aruba(config)#logging severity info" and then "show logg -r" -This will show you all logs in reverse (newest first). Hope this help.

btw Aruba added this to their newest switch platform Aos-CX. Command is "terminal-monitor" 😂

@@m.ammarraza3957 these are real hardware switches from Cisco and Aruba. Newer Aruba Aos-cx switches does have a virtual option that you can download and install on VMware esxi.

@@ushavingfun6426 Thank you sir for such a kind attitude, sir i have Aos-Cx installed in gns3 integrated with vmware but not all the configuration commands as i was taught by my teacher in physical Aruba switch are not running on this logical switch

@@m.ammarraza3957 you are right, Aos-CX is the new class of switches and different from previous Aruba AOS switches when it comes to commands. Remember to try the ? After your commands to find out what is allowed as a valid command. For example there is no reload command in AOS cx it's boot system

Unfortunately Aruba AOS doesn't have the command but they included that in new Aruba CX switches. Also context sensitive help sucks for AOS switches. For example if you are in interface config mode Aruba-3810M(ethe-1)# ? It will show you all possible commands available in config mode. Hope this answers your question.

Aruba AOS are not available in Virtual format. They have new CX switches that has ova for EVE-NG. www.eve-ng.net/index.php/documentation/howtos/howto-add-aruba-cx-switch/ This document will help.
