Thank you, very nicely done! Few moves needed polishing ! I can tell you had learned it from a real tai chi master and not from watching youtube or DVD. If you are living in USA, please ask those people showing fake tai chi on youtube from usa to stop spreading fake tai chi and go learn real tai chi. . Another fake is USA has their own Tai Chi Competition Organization. I watched them perform, I have to say if a Chinese doing tai chi in front of them, all of them would quick learning from the American teachers!

Thank you Nick for your kind words. Indeed, I'm a bit out of practice and need some polish. I'm not in the USA, but in North of Ireland. On the other side of the Atlantic. I have indeed been very lucky to study closely on a daily basis with a Chinese Master, and regularly with touring Chinese Masters. We live in an exciting time where more and more Chinese Masters are bringing Tai Chi to the rest of the World. Those of us not from China have a lot of catching up to do. In any nationality, we will find great enthusiasm. Hopefully we will all have good opportunities to find true Masters to show us the best ways. I know a very fine teacher in the US. He studies with one of the Chen linkage. A different branch from my Master Chen, but his work is excellent. There are many levels of quality and deviation wherever we look regardless of location. Hopefully fate brings us the best guidance possible, and we inspire eachother to strive 😊 🙏☯️

Thank you for this! I really appreciate your videos, it's SO helpful when you show the side view and diagonal view. And you wore a turtleneck in hot weather so we could better see your arm movements. Bravo. My eyes lit up when you mentioned the version of Turning the Wheel of Dharma where your fingers are laced. I ran into that version during Shi Heng Yi's "6 Day Morning Practice" (ru-vid.com/group/PL2OhuBUEg0TTENwOOcPEGGL_nuhygWvr1&si=-pG2kSYM7oKBBPcn) and I enjoy doing it that way. I also appreciate that you do a sane amount of Dharma wheel turns, and not the 10-to-each-side like I've seen in other videos. The cross-lateral knee and heel raise is one that's a lot easier at slightly faster speeds. I'm glad I've been doing the 6 Day Morning Practice for 6 months, it focuses a lot on leg strength and balancing on one leg. Comes in handy for bouncing ball in the ocean (a much more memorable name than cross lateral knee and heel raise), especially with the slow controlled pace you put forth... Watching your form, it seems my hands went way too high on things like Looking at the Moon and Rowing the Boat, I'm going to try to keep my arms lower as I practice going forward. You really helped with repulse the monkey, It's nice to know when to turn the front hand and the consistent motion on the other palm to come by the ear, elbow initially facing outwards until it drops down to push the arm forward. I set my laptop up by a pond in the park this morning and spent an hour doing this video. Thanks again for your content, it is much appreciated.

@@janeburke1635 Thanks so much, I'll check those videos out, especially the back view for the Tai Chi fan form... Lately I've been practicing two Qi Gong routines: Yi Jin Jing (tendon/ligament stretching) and Shu Jing Gong (Shaolin Qi Gong form). This afternoon I did Yi Jin Jing and 5 Animal Qi Gong in the park. I've been doing Yi Jin Jing daily in the evenings since February, it's my favorite. Occasionally in the morning, I'll do Shi Ba Shi following along to Vivien Chao's video. I see you have a Shi Ba Shi video as well, I'm going to follow along with your video the next time I get the urge to do Shi Ba Shi (I have to psych myself up to do the "turning the wheel of dharma" movement, but I really like the "bouncing ball in bubbling spring" movement that follows it").

I have been studying Tai Chi with Jane for over a year now via the Harmony Hub in Ballyclare. The class runs every Tuesday night 7-8pm. I retired from a very physical profession just as Covid 19 struck and by the time we were allowed to circulate freely, my mobility had seriously deteriorated. My Tai Chi classes have greatly increased my mobility but they have also contributed greatly to my mental and health and wellbeing. I enjoy performing my daily practice and I love that I can enjoy the classes with my daughter and sister. Jane is a very inspiring and informative teacher. She is understanding of your physical limitations and she encourages you to just do your best. She inspires you to believe in yourself and your capabilities. I cannot recommend the benefits of Tai Chi enough and I certainly cannot recommend the benefits of Jane Burke enough as a teacher.

@janeburke1635 4 месяца назад
Aw, thanks caseihalabama6808. Yes, it's a tough one. I try to make it easier for people by mirroring, and if I wave my left arm, I say your right. But though that helps many, there are those who only see my left. Maybe I should just say to the side?! Often in face to face classes, I only show the back view. But then people can't always see what the hands are doing. I'm always open to suggestions. It's always good to find new ways to be clear.

Hi there, good eye! You're right that normally we have a convention in Tai Chi and Qi Gong, that Gentlemen place left hand to belly first, then right on top, and Ladies are the other way around. However, Master Lok asserts That it really doesn't matter which hand goes first, more important to be comfortable. So when I do Chen or Yang or other Qi Gong, my right hand goes to belly first. With Lok style, go with what's comfortable. Is that helpful? Thanks, Jane

Jane, I'm confused with the mirroring. On all your other 7 Star videos, when resting both hands on the Dantian its always been left over right. In this mirrored video it's the same. When both hands cover the Dantian which hand is closest to the body, left or right, or does it matter?

Thank you for this in depth’s class. I noticed that you refer frequently to TaiChi in this Qigong class. By accident perhaps? Or do you mix both styles a bit here? Kind regards, André
@janeburke1635
@janeburke1635 6 месяцев назад
You're right of course, this is Daoist Qi Gong. The practice is optimised for health. Though it's the same principles in Tai Chi. The same moves often in the 7 star rotations Qi Gong quotes large chunks from the Phoenix in Graceful Clouds of Blessing Tai Chi informed Qi Gong form and the Immortals Crossing the Sea Tai Chi Form. It also includes Ba Gua/Qi Gong. Though Tai Chi indicates Martial, it all is Qi Gong. I guess I've got into the habit of calling it Tai Chi. Only the focus of application changes it from one to the other. So technically, yes, the intention is mostly health here, (Qi Gong) though section 5 is designed to strengthen the body for martial application. So, Tai Chi. Apologies for any confusion I may have caused.

Jane, on movement 3 when you "cover center and breathe" are your hands touching your body, or is there a small gap?
@janeburke1635
@janeburke1635 6 месяцев назад
Hi there, great question. By resting your hands on the level of Dan Tien, but not actually pushing, the Qi is easily directed into center of the body. The weight of the resting hands helps us feel a connection a couple of inches in from the surface. Play with it yourself and find your best connection. 🙏☯️🙂
