Would spraying WD 40 on the line in the head keep it from getting jammed?
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself День назад
I've not tried that but it probably would. However, it might make a mess and make it difficult to remove dirt and grime.
@charlescoker7752

Guess I have different version. There is only one place in the spool the string will go thru. If you just put the head back together. The holes will not line up. You will never be able to push the string thru. Took me 30 minutes to finally get it lined up for the string to go thru!
@charlescoker7752
@charlescoker7752 2 дня назад
You take it apart the holes you put the string thru has to line up perfect .You can not get the string thru the head if you don't. Have been having trouble with the string jamming in the head, and not feeding.
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself День назад
If the string won't go thru, put the battery in and briefly press the green powerload button to get the head to turn slightly. Then try the string again. If that doesn't work, do it again until the string will go through.
@packmellon
@packmellon 3 дня назад
Does it go straight from 1 hole to the other or does it go around?
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself 2 дня назад
It goes straight through, then as the head is turned the string winds around the spool.

I did the exact same thing, but it failed. I proceeded to turn it on after applying the string, and the string just fly out instead. Any tips? I don’t understand why it just fly out?
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself 3 дня назад
It flies out when the string gets wrapped the wrong direction around the spool. I don't know why that would've happened but if you do this again, it should work. Make sure to wind it the proper direction.

The bigger question is why can't Ryobi fix this issue. I have replaced the head twice in 2.5 years and I have four months of winter. The engineering of this head is pathetic, I would never recommend Ryobi to anyone, they don't stand behind this obviously faulty product. Why do the end users need to take a file to the head to make it work properly? There is obviously something really wrong with this.

I've been fighting by Ryobi weedeater for years now. I dreaded attempting to twist the string assembly off and on. I have resorted to hammer and chisel, spraying it with WD-40, etc.. My frustration level was 11 out of 10. Sent away for new parts and have been waiting now for over 3 months. Your video has brought so much peace in my outdoor, yard maintenance life. Thanks so much!!! RU-vid has saved me once again ! I did have to work quite aggressively with a file to knock those indentations down. Took me 3-4 times before I could finally twist the assembly on and off. What a relief ! Surprised the notches still hold.

Looks good though you could probably put something under the front wheels to give ypu more room. I am just about to change mine for the first time. I bought a cheap lawn tractor jack and a device to hold the blade. I don't know how I did it, but one of my blades is bent 25 degrees downward at the end of the blade.

Thanks, I was going to try to just thread the string straight thru like the first method but decided to pop the head off just to look inside. Glad I did because there was a 4-inch piece of line inside the head that probably would have caused problems later. BTW, I have the 24V version, appears to have the same head.

How to pull the string out if it becomes shorter and not touching the Swath blade? just open the head and unwind the string from the rim or is there any other simple way to do that?

The instructions tell me to use 16 feet of line. I find your suggestion of 12 feet is much easier to wind and not so thick that I can still drop the spool into position. Maybe a machine can do it with 16 feet but I am a mere human. Great video.

AGH. My string doesn't stay out or lengthen while using. Any ideas?
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself 10 дней назад
My guess is that the string is pinching itself on the spool so it's basically stuck. This happens when the string isn't wound very neatly on the spool. The unit is supposed to release a small amount of string every time the trigger is pulled and the unit begins spinning after a dead stop. This isn't the kind where you bump the spinning head on the ground to get some string to release.
@nukitkat1
@nukitkat1 10 дней назад
@@FixEverythingYourself This is a new spool I put on. I put a new one on after the other one stopped working.. while I was using it. It got to about 2/3's down. I bought the spools already wound up.
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself 9 дней назад
@nukitkat1 interesting. I bet there's still something being pinched on the pre-wound spools but who knows. Sorry I don't have a better answer.

With way does the bump head spins right or left when doing a yard
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself 10 дней назад
When holding the weedeater normally and looking at the spinning head, it spins counterclockwise. So you'll want to use the right side of the spinning head to cut grass because the string is spinning away from you on the right side.

So i already loaded mine properly but when i bump my line to get more line it doesnt extend dont know how to fix it got so frustrated opted to use my old whacker its sad cuz i brought the teimmer and self propelled lawn mower combo
@FixEverythingYourself
@FixEverythingYourself 11 дней назад
Usually that happens when the string somehow pinches itself inside and, therefore, won't extend even when you've done everything right. I recommend pulling the string out and redoing it. If this happens EVERY time, it can be wound manually and you can take care to wind it evenly and you probably won't have the problem.
