I had this problem with Morohy Richards kettle and repaired it by bending and scrapping the metal contact strips. It worked again for a month then the same happened again. Doubt that f the metal strips will survive another couple of repairs before the strips break or burn-through. And then it will be game-over. So, maximum lifespan of kettle will be six-months, and the I'll need to spend another £25. But, be warned, if you think that paying more money will get you a better quality device today, you're wrong. After the defective Morphy Richards kettle, I purchased a Bosch Styline kettle for £65, it failed catastrophically after 18 months, approximately 2,700 uses (The Guarentee period was 2 years) - connections to the power board in the base unit were overloaded and burnt through, melting the power cables and breaking tbe electrical power supply circuit. I was lucky to not get electrocuted. Like the other kettles the Bosch Styline was made in China and, in my opinion, these devices, have been subject to excessive application of "Value analysis" techniques in their design and manufacture. They are good-looking rubbish. Devices like these are not safe and fit for purpose and should be banned. They are not fit for use in a dolls house tea-party let alone a real one. Yet well-establshed European domestic electrical goods suppliers are importing and selling these things in their thousands every month. They are under-specified for what they have to do and the suppliers know this, but are not discouraged from selling them to the public because of tbe regular income it produces every six months when it fails. People would be safer boiling-up water in a mess tin or kettle on a gas hob.!!! 40 years ago elecfric kettles in the UK would last a minimum of 10 years, and a recent survey of domestic electric appliances in the UK, conducted by the Independent newspaper in 2021 concluded that electric kettles lifespan was 5 years and 4 months (7728 uses) :- www.independent.co.uk/life-style/household-applicances-lifespan-average-poll-b1932734.html This is neo-liberalism and marketing at its worst, ruthlessly exploiting consumers. All these mechanical switch kettles made in China and imported to Europe and sold under well known European brand names have the same switch design pattern, more or less, with the same built-in points of failure. First to fail are the metal contact strips. They are made of metal which is too thin and which do not have adequate metal soldered contacts. After repeated use the metal contact strips fatigue and bend away from each other at the contact point causing arcing and oxidation of the contact surface when the switch is placed in the "On" These two effects defeat elecfrical conduction even when the on/off switch is placed in the "On" position. The second thing to fail will be the plastic switch because of mechanical and heat/cool cycle fatigue. And tbe last thing to fail will be the "Over-heat" protection which is basically two bi-metallic discs (Located underneath the switch mechanism and smeared with white silicon grease, see video). In normal operation, when there's insufficient water in the kettle to heat, you are still able to switch-on the kettle to heat the water ! In these circumstances the cast metal base of the kettle will overheat causing the two bi-metallic discs to bend upwards and push a plastic bar upwards which in turn lifts the metal contact strips away from each other, breaking the elelectrical circuit and stopping heating of the kettle and burn-out of the heating element. Again, this safety mechanism might not survive repeated use because the plastic bar will fatigue mechanically and break or melt.

I see picture on screen for 1 second and then it suddenly goes blank.. please help me.. also i am curious if i can use a universal lcd controller/motherboard to make my own monitor as the lcd screen of the monitor works flawlessly
check capacitor, damage capacitor sometimes not showing fat. you need cap tester. you can get it online. and not every universal board compatible with your screen.
How are there so many shorts happening on this board? I just replaced the 'stage' pot on mine thinking it was bad because all stages other than step, rise and fall would cut out badly. It still happens which indicates a bigger problem.. It might not be worth trying to fix if there are may shorts in the board after it gets old, right?
@@jon5957 No, I went as far as replacing the stage pot with a new one ordered from Boss but it didn't help. I suspect the issue is with the DSP chip that handles the other modes that are cutting out. I'm not an expert with digital circuits through so it could be something else.

These fancy induction plates are actually really crappy compared to the old style. This reminds me of Bang & Oluffson. Fancy, but very bad for long-term reliability. Great video though!
