Welcome to the AA0Z RU-vid channel. I feature a little bit of everything on this channel. Some POTA, How To's, Contesting, Node Red and whatever grabs my interest in Ham Radio.
I’d like to find a video that breaks these features down to super dumb level. Newbies like me don’t know anything about what you’re saying. You would sound better without a mic in front of your mouth. Thanks for the attempt to convey your product. Not likely I will get it due to the loss in translation. I guess I will have to find RU-vid videos on each individual feature your taking about to figure out if I would want your radio.
Ed was my first BC1 instructor. Now I catch him and Shantel whenever HamAlert sounds off. I still really have not did a ragchew but I do get out to the park and do weekly POTA's. Ed told me to get on the air. Thanks.
Hello good morning: Could you tell me what software you are using to operate the radio remotely? Is it a Windows system or are you using the Respberry Pi? I use Ham radio Deluxe but I would like to use a raspberry pi instead of the PC. A cordial greeting. P.S. excellent radio equipment. 😍😍
@@AA0Z Yes, that was already clear to me in the video. I am referring to the specific program that the radio manages, you know: change the band, the frequency, activate the PTT, activate the NR filter, etc. etc. Many thanks for everything
BK does not mean ''back to you' it means 'break' (pause in transmission). If sent as B K this means b = 'more follow' k = 'over' Glyn G4CFS (Ex Pro OP)
@@AA0Z thanks for correcting me! I found the first episode and will watch both. I'm hoping to do my first CW POTA activation next week. I have been hunting for about a year.
As a new Ham operator, and a Ham who achieved Amateur Extra in three months, and someone who enjoys hunting POTA, listening to you guys actually intimidates me in trying to make any POTA contacts. You three guys are some of the highest ranked and most experienced in POTA, and I am sure your way of doing things is "perfect." Sorry, but I do not enjoy your boastful and prideful attitudes. I have an idea... why don't you have a 30-40 minute video on how to properly do things in POTA instead of complaining about what upsets the most experienced guys in POTA? I am sure I am not the first person that watched your video that thought the same thing.
First welcome to the hobby and congrats on getting Extra in 3 months. Second, it sounds like you just clicked on this video and haven't seen any other videos on the channel? There is another video where we talk about what great POTA operator traits are. I have dozen of other videos geared towards new operators. I even host a bi-weekly live stream getting new CW operators on the air. LOL. Maybe you should go watch that great POTA OP video and comment on that one? I think you rushed to judgement on this video and took it way too seriously then left that comment in a fit of rage. That's ok, some people do that. If this channel is not for you, that's OK too. There are plenty of other ham radio channels! GL in hunting POTA. POTA has really done great things for the . 73.
I don't think you'll have much luck hitting repeaters in Jackson from Grant Village because there are a bunch of mountains in the way. Even if the repeater was located on Grand Teton it would still be hidden by mountains. I've occasionally had limited luck with getting a cell signal near the shower house at Grant. SMS might be more reliable
Got it. Thank you for the info! I think someone in our party will have starlink so we possibly might have a path that way to the outside world but all depends on tree cover. Thanks for watching!
I needed something to prove sufficient dedication to radio hobby to justify getting an HF radio. Learning what's necessary to get a license really doesn't take a whole lot of dedication but learning CW did.
Kyle! That spot on Gooseneck was spectacular. It inspired my lazy butt to pick up the keyboard and give a comment, lol. Nice video. See you out there. 73 de Bill
I had some internet issues at the house here, so there are some studders in the stream. Just hit the "J" key on your keyboard to fast forward though the drop outs. They are only 15 or 20 second drop outs.
1985 had to do a 12 wpm send and receive exam to get a Class A licence to operate HF in UK. I read a lot about the brave men and women of SOE operating Morse code behind enemy lines I feel the history needs to be preserved. 73 Phil G0BVD
I practice CW but I forgot to practice how to send CW on a keyboard. For FD. In the end, I guess I just send with a key - prefer a Bug. Not a fan of keyboards - sorry. No fun for me.
How do FD clubs run 10 transceivers within the 1000ft radius without walking on others. We have a quadplexer and bandpass filters and still have bleed-over on different bands.
Typically they don't but there are a few ways. One, you get a pair of radios on the same band that have good rejection. Usually contest grade radios. One person runs while the other search and pounces in between CQ's of the running station. Sub filters also help if one person want to run on 20 on SSB the other wants to run CW. This is usually done with Yagi's pointed the same direction so they are not firing into each other and the CQ'ers are at opposite sides of the band.
Still learning CW,I work on the railway and work in customer service so I talk for a living so I don’t want to talk to anyone outside work, also CW is incredibly cool 😎
Amazing how much stuff you can fit in that red bag! I didn't realize you are not a mast man. A mast is the only thing that struck me as "missing". Guessing that is a regional kind of thing. Always feel like I should have a mast as I may not have a tree.
