The best side for these flights is to sit on the left side of the aircraft. It provides for a prime view of downtown during final on these lake side approaches. Also you get to see bigger towns like Rockford just as you begin the descent into ORD's class B.

I will never fly on Delta this exact thing happened 3 times in a row last time was in Vegas we left 6 hours late. They offered a voucher for a free flight I gave it to the woman behind me. Never ever again.
The video title sure got my attention. But I saw no thunderstorm! Just one distant flash not long after the beginning. I would have loved to see actual lightning, which with thunder defines a real thunderstorm. I left the 11 minutes feeling very disappointed.
