op-1 limitations makes you think harder 😁 thanks so much for these tricks! I love the first one. I wish op-1 had a function to drop all lifted tracks mixed into a single track, but your 1st trick is quite close to that!
11:10 I love the fact that you show the reality of it. everybody else will cut out mistakes and stuff and make it seem like it's so damn easy. Then some naive kid goes and pays 2 thousand dollars for the instrument they think make magic and then they get destroyed trying to make a simple beat. Thank you. So now I know it's not that something's wrong with me. Is just that it really takes practise.
I just got the field days ago… My problem is, I can record anything from the op-1 into my ipad pro, but It’s also recording the metronome sound. Any tips? Thanks man.
Thanks a lot. It didn’t work for me firstly but started later. Don’t think it’s really useful feature but cool in some cases. For example you are in forest and have only your phone and OP-1 and can play sounds from your phone into OP-1 and mix there but usually I think it’s not really mater feature. However thank you, it was good to know about this way of playing via OP-1.
I don't have my OP-1 anymore, but I think there is a Local Off switch somewhere in the COM menu so you can send MIDI notes without triggering the internal synth engine. That would be the cleanest way to do this workflow I think. At any rate, I love this workflow! Thanks for sharing :D
The kick track is muted because im playing back the audio from the op1 back onto itself and the kick track is the one I'm recording to. If I were to unmute the kick track, it would be twice as loud because I'd technically be recording onto it twice (once for the recording that already exists and a second time when I record the playback audio). I hope that makes sense!
I had the same question, the missing link for me was remembering that recording over tape, overdubs on that track. So basically what he’s doing here is overdubbing 1-3 on top of the drum track on 4. Once you un-mute, all 4 tracks are audible.
I think most people would have no interest in utilizing a $2000 synthesizer as a Controller for GarageBand. And what I am interested in is how to get the great sounds offered within the OP1 into my GarageBand sessions for orchestration. The OP1 sounds like an amazing instrument, but I have no desire to build an entire song within that tiny little screen.
Who cares what you think? Getting the op1 into the iPad is simple and everyone knows that it sends audio over usb. So this is something MOST people don’t know. Tons of vids with audio going into iPad exist already. No one cares what your desires are either. Why did you post this? Who are you?

In the video im using GarageBand, which is free and honestly has an insane number of great synths and percussions. Other than that, I use AudioKit Synth One, Minimoog Model D and HOUSE: Mark 1.
@@GavinVickery cool thanks will try. I was on 242 version and just updated firmware to 243 on my OP-1. Way easier than when I have to update firmware on my eurorack modules.
Love this! I need to experiment more with combining other devices with the OP1. Need to see if I can do a similar midi controller setup for Dreams on the PS4 too...
The cable is just standard USB that comes with OP-1 and the adapter at the iPad end is USB to USB-C adapter. If you have an iPhone, you need USB to Lightening adapter. Plug it all in and it just works. Easy peasy :)
Now that you have the SP404mk2 could do a video showing multiple usb devices via a hub into iPhone/iPad. 1. As the OP1 and SP404mk2 have usb connectivity, devices that don’t have usb midi/audio, can have their audio, direct or via mixer.... go into the OP1/SP404mk2/SYNTAKT etc , that would be recorded into the iPad/iPhone. 2. Can you use the iPad or vice versa the OP1 as an external effects send/return ?

Excellent, I’ve mainly using my laptop for sharing sounds, much more refreshing for me on the iPad , as I have different AUV3 Instruments and processing.... what is that connection adapter on the usb to iPad thanks.
Current iPad models are all native USB-C, except for the cheapest entry level 10.2" Model. He's just using a USB-C to USB-A adaptor on the end of a USB-A to mini USB cable for the OP-1. If you have a lightning equiped device like the cheap iPad or the iPhone, you'll need Apple's Lightning to USB3 Camera Connection thingy, which also has a lightning socket on it so the iPad / iPhone can be charged at the same time - this is also needed if the device you connect needs more power.

@@pongtrometer I have the generic adapter for the iPad (USB-C) and it works great. However, I found only the official Apple adapter for USB to Lighting adapters worked reliably when using my iPhone.
