Hi, my old tile came off my bathroom wall easily. The existing sheetrock underneath has some glue on it otherwise is solid, can I put new tile over it? Thanks.
As long as you prep the area right. I would advise to replace Sheetrock with hardieboard. If you’re not in the position to do so, I would at least 2-3 coats of redguard to waterproof Sheetrock. If you use redguard you don’t have to use the eco prim bc the redguard gives you a surface that easier to trowel. I hope this makes sense
So there’s a brass wire, silver wire and a ground wire to be connected to the outlet? Or are the two white wires the same? I think I’m just going to call an electrician when the time comes haha. I don’t mess with electrical, cause I know nothing about it. Other than not to stick a fork in an outlet. lol
They are all copper. The white is your neutral, black (power) wire, bare copper ground. It’s better if you call a licensed electrician to take a look at the work. Hope this helps
So I’m doing a backslash in the kitchen , the wall has paint on it. So would I be able to use that product and apply it right over the paint to give me that same out come you talked about and then I can apply the thin set..
Yes you can! It will make installing easier. Make sure to cover your countertops well, use a small roller and roll lightly. Hope this helps! You could also use “Primer T” at Lowe’s for $10 bucks. I’m doing a video on that soon
I'm doing ledger stone tiles around a fireplace. Half will be over drywall. Will this product work as a primer in a high heat application? I bought the premixed mapei premium thinset. I contacted mapei but no response. Thank you
1:48 Soooo now I potentially have a bigger problem. I don’t know why I take advice from anyone at Lowe’s anymore. Now that I opened the product I can easily see that rolling it is no problem. It’s thick, but rolls easily. BUT, I let that chowderhead upsell me into a product from the same company that was supposed to have the added benefits of additional waterproofing benefits. It’s not ecoprim, but something called aqua defense… and I can tell you straight up it’s not even close to being the same thing. Now I am concerned that ecoprim will not bond to this product…. Which is now on my freaking wall.
It’s tough to give you an accurate answer without seeing. If this is in a water area than aqua will be fine because you need the waterproof. But honestly even if this isn’t in a water area you should be fine to tile over the aqua. Regardless either product will prep the surface for you in order to have a better surface to trowel. You could also email me pictures and I can give a better resolution for you. Hope this helps
I had a handyman apply tile with mastic directly to dry wall for shower walls. I understand this is not ideal, but do I need to rip it all out and start over?
It looks like that product has been rolled onto the wall. Correct? When I bought some today, the tile guy had never heard of anyone doing this and said it cannot be applied with a roller, that it has to be troweled. Your thoughts / instructions?
Hi, I'm attempting to tile a kitchen backsplash over drywall. However, the drywall has a knockdown texture... would this need to be sanded off prior to applying the eco-prim/thinset? Thanks for the helpful video.
Ins. Companies will send out there own adjusters to servey damages. Depending on type of damage you could have a private co. come and do the same and then compare.
Thanks for your video! Super helpful. I'm getting ready to tile over tongue and groove ( it's been sanded) and put down eco prim first. Do I need to put an additional barrier on top of the eco prim before laying the porcelain tile?
what about a plastered wall? A wall with Wire mesh and plaster then flat paint ? Plaster is about 1 inch thick then painted with a flat. Any scoring needed or just primer? paint is in great shape no peeling or bubbling
Also those plastic knocking blocks are at more risk of damaging product than a scrap piece cut in half and slotted in as it had the correct profile for the click system, tap tap, if you do it right it looks good 👍 😉
