Hi, I have a G15 (GA503QR), I notice my wifi connecting to the internet is slow on startup, is this normal? I already change my wifi to wifi 6e, but when I login or startup my laptop, I still wait like 5-10 seconds to connect on wifi to the internet. Even in hibernate. But on other laptop, if they startup their laptop, they already connected on internet without waiting. Can anyone help me?
Hello. So if i understand this correctly, does it mean that vbios is useless for high-end GPUs thats already running at maximum wattage? Like say im having an MSI Vector GP78 with an rtx 4090 which runs at 175w maximum, does that mean that i wont be able to flash vbios it to increase more wattage, since its already at maximum limit of that GPU model?
So I wanted to get the new zephyrus g16 but I’m afraid of oled and how quickly it can burn in, I take care of my stuff but it would sit in my head all the time - maybe lower brightness, maybe do this and that ….. I could probably get away with IPS version but that might be very bad, bleeding etc I could maybe find a miniled of zephyrus m16 but the form factor of g16 is amazing, so are speakers - that’s what I heard. Tough choice. There’s also new Lenovo yoga with miniled but their charging port is faulty, also Razer blade 16 2023 but there is not many service centre providers in Europe. :/ tough.
Have you looked into the Flow X16? I have a review on the channel. And yeah the Zephyrus M16’s display is also awesome being mini-LED. Also an amazing laptop. I think you can easily get 4-5 years out of OLED with just the basic care, but that’s the thing, it’s just that you can’t guarantee it. So I understand the concern.
@@JoshCravesTech thanks I appreciate ur reply Maybe I’ll find a compromise and get the new yoga 9i pro or something but so far I haven’t noticed any vents on this laptop and I’m a gamer. (Mostly league of legends , Smite) nothing extraordinary. :) also love a good speakers. My y540 legion has them facing downwards so they ain’t amazing.
Hi josh , I have a Asus zephyrus g15 (2022) , iam facing problem with Asus optimization. When ever I press any key on my keyboard the microphone gets triggered and I keep seeing pop ups saying microphone on and off . Turning off Asus optimization is disabling other functions of my keyboard like keyboard brightness, aura , fan setting ... Can you please provide me with a solution! ..
Did I just find a gold mine of a channel!!?? Bro seriously this is so in-depth and this is something I would make if I could!! Optimizing the stock laptop to best by adjusting the fan curves and things like that are syrup on the pancake (cherry would have been an understatement). Cheers!!
Can you guys help me out a little bit… I have a choice between this G14 Spec and a Scar 16 13980hx+ 4080. I want it just for gaming, i use my current machine mainly plugged in, idc for portability that much as i dont travel too much, only gaming performance. The synthetic benchemarks dont tell the full story when gaming…when you’re trying to squeeze most performance. Im also worrying about temps, i know how to undervolt but i still am not comfortable to pass the 90 degree mark as i want to keep fan noise a little lower… What should i go with ?
The gaming benchmarks are pretty much exactly what you can expect out of the G14. If you watch my newest review on the G16, I have gaming benchmarks with the Legion Pro 7i 4080 in a lot of the charts. That’s what you can expect out of the Scar. The CPU in the Scar will carry it past the G14 unless the game is just extremely GPU-bound. If you don’t care about portability and it’s gonna be plugged in all the time then I wouldn’t even consider the G14 tbh. The Scar is an absolute monster laptop and can handle everything you throw at it with ease.
Hi Josh, I’m super new to laptop gaming. I always played console (PS5) and owned MacBook pros. I’m stuck between Asus G16 and Razer Blade 16 OLED. I’d love to game on the go, on the plane and wants an OLED screen. If money was no object, which would you buy? Asus G16 or Blade 26? Thx Kyle
G16 all day. Especially for being on the go. Blade is quite a bit heavier with terrible battery life and can’t really be tuned as much, especially when you’re off the main charger.
I really like the way you do benchmarks and test realse hardware you are now my favrouite reviewer, the section on creator benchmarks was perticullary great but also the noise tests, out of interests would you recommend a configuration in G helper for photoshop (I assume a CPU priority mode)?
Thank you!! And yes, for Photoshop I typically run it at the default Balanced mode, but for the most snappiness, you could definitely boost the CPU a bit higher in G-Helper.
Highly doubt it. The only other one that has followed suit since making this video that I know of is Razer and only in their 2024 mini-LED laptops which are more expensive than last year’s.
@@JoshCravesTech like even the box alluded to it being lights. Pretty misleading I picked this laptop over a different one I was looking at bc I thought I could make a cool design to have on it but damn after realizing mine didn't even have it I was pissed.
Thanks Josh for the great content. I bought Lenovo Yoga Pro Gen 9 with Mini Led. After MacBook Pro M1, I immediately understood that the screen seemed weird for me. I couldn't name it. Now I can understand what is it. Because of it I returned it back. Now I am considering to buy another one. There's a 2023 Mini Led Razor 16 RTX 4070 with discounted price. I torn between buying it or not. But probably I should not to buy in order to not feel regret in the future.
I don't like it. The MacBook style, the unable-to-angle-all-the-way-back-of-the-screen,-the low-travel keyboard keys. I don't think it's my style! I am glad I have the 2022 M16. : )
The hinge is definitely quite wobbly when you are typing while having it on your lap. A person has to be a robot if they don’t make it wobble when on their lap 😂.
Just Josh says the Yoga Pro 9i has better cooling and lower noise compared to the G16, and according to Notebook Check, the Yoga Pro 9i also has slightly better gaming performance. What are your thoughts on this? I've been debating between these two models for a long time. Thanks! (Both are 4060 versions) Additionally, your final thought part is very considerate!
8:48 I am on my third exchange now with the trackpad issue and am starting to wonder if that’s just the way it is with this product. Are people just dealing with it or am I unlucky?
It seems to be pretty random whether you get a rattling trackpad or not. I know I’ve chatted with a few people about this now who are sensitive to trackpad rattle, and some have perfect units now but did need to exchange. It seems to be the most common issue seen with the laptop. I’ve noticed now it’s a little more common than when I first made the video. But also luck plays into it of course, lol 😂
Hey man awesome review! I had one question. When playing SDR games I set the display mode to srgb in Armory Crate. I was wondering what value of the colour slider corresponds to D65 (6500K) which the display was factory calibrated to in srgb profile? I want the most accurate image
Only disabling CPU Boost and uninstalling ArmoryCrate dropped my Cpu temps by 15 degrees, (so i can use it comfortable on the lap) of course also extended my battery life for hours now. Havent played with undervolting and power limits yet. maybe i can squeeze some more hours out of it.
This is a standout review. By far the best I've seen while recently shopping for this device. Thank you for focusing on useful user information, rather than the typical wall-to-wall braindead bench marks so many others seem to rest on. The Benchmark to Noise comparisons were particularly useful.
In Eco and Silent mode I'm discharging at 16W with nothing opened. How are you getting such low energy consumption? Is it because I'm using the version with three fans maybe?
Nah, you should be way lower than 16W discharging. Have any apps running in the background? Brightness set fairly low? 60Hz refresh rate? Changed some hardware acceleration settings?
Hello Josh, I'm impressed but the review, and TRULY love the G16, but I do not know if it will futhfill my needs. I will be using my new Laptop as my main workstation and carry it quite usually, with the purpose of 3D (Rhino, Blender, twinmotion, revit, lumion..) and AI (Training and program). Would you recommend the Zephyrus G16 gen 9(2024) with RTX 4090 or should I go Legion Pro 7i gen 9 ? My only concern is the soldered RAM, being not upgradeable(while being 7680) might compromise the "expected Life" of the laptop(around 3-4 years), since 32gb is the "new normal". I'm not interested in Gaming at all, but AI and most rendering and vectors are nvidia "friendly", not so uch with AMD. Those are my 2 option for several reasons. Thanks in advance.
The Legion’s CPU (i9-14900HX) does not have an NPU. So the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H has an NPU which would make it more equipped to handle AI tasks. The Legion would win in 3D programs probably, but not sure if it would be a noticeable amount. I still think the luxury features of the G16 make it a more balanced laptop overall, just more pleasant to daily drive.
I don't think it is for me. This laptop costs 2250 euros in my country, which is for the Ultra 7 155H + 4070 and 16 GB ram. If i compare that to the Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i with added Mini-led screen, i9-185H + 4070 and 32 gb ram, which costs about the same for 2340. This is also partly because Lenovo is kind enough to offer student coupons, for 10% off. ASUS does throw in a free backpack which is nice, but no extra premium care unlike lenovo for only 1 euro more (why the 1 euro lol). ASUS has the faster shipping but i don't really need it now per se. I think i will go for the Yoga 9i, since it offers considerable performance improvements for 100 euro more, what do you think?
G15 is way expensive than legion also you are clearly exaggerating rather than comparing like design should not be a comparison rather than preference I mean if you didn't like the design and aspect ratio of the display in the first place why would you buy it lol 🥴 seems like a paid review rather than a genuine one 😊
In the U.S. they’re the same price. I wanted to try it out and I didn’t like it. This is simply my experience. I gave hard data comparisons and then subjective opinions which I clearly said were my personal preference.
G16 all day. Alienware X16 R2 is a much bigger laptop with a really poor display in comparison. At the end of the video I show some comparison photos of them next to each other and the X16 R2 looks like an 18" laptop next to the G16 🤣
Bro fucking great review! Thank you for addressing the Hardware Canucks Video, it was the number one thing keeping me from touching this laptop. Only additional thing I wish was in the vid was a comparison between the video card tiers. I’m currently trying to decide between the 4080 and 4090 models
Thank you!! Yeah that video was BS and they know it. But yeah the 4080 model gives about 5-10% less fps in games. So if you look at the 4090 gaming benchmarks, just subtract 5-10% for an idea of how the 4080 will perform. It's very close.
When flashing the 3060vbios it semi works it boots up can’t run games. Gpu is at 310mhz any way to fix this cause I just ended up flashing the original bios back
Thank you for the thorough and detailed review of this laptop! I have seen other videos from you as well and I find your reviews and topics very well chosen(such as the mini led comparison video). Thanks to you, I might be buying the 2023 G14 with the same ryzen processor but with rtx4080 and mini led display in it for approximately 2200 USD(buying in Korea, so depending on the current currency price might differ time to time). I am still struggling which laptop I would buy in August, but this one is most likely the pick I guess. Keep the good work and well done!^_^
That's super weird, to me it sounds like a hardware defect. I'd try different Intel wifi drivers, and then DDU and try a different Nvidia driver. If issue persists, then send it in or exchange!
Just watched this entire video this morning at the doctor’s office, great video Josh! And you have a new subscriber. I ordered this laptop the 4090 model open box (great deal from Best Buy) and it’s currently out for delivery as i type this. Thanks for your quick reply on the Hardware Canuck’s review vid that had me worried about my purchase and also bought me here to your detailed review on the 2024 Zephyrus G16. Im new to pc gaming and this will be my first gaming pc and with the power of this beast looks like i can also use it for Ableton Live,Photoshop,Final Cut pro etc. Do you you have any videos on how to set up this laptop for first time beginner’s and also a more detail info on how to set up Ge Helper. Do you recommend installing Ge Helper from the get go or use the Armory software to set up the laptop? Your reply will be greatly appreciated thanks.
Thank you!! I think most people are probably fine with Armoury Crate, but G-Helper certainly gives you some cool features like Fn Lock and custom keyboard shortcuts, and some extra tuning options that you can’t do with Armoury Crate. I’d recommend it for the 4090 G16 just because the extra 10W to the GPU is so easily accessible on G-Helper. Just slide the “GPU Power” slider all the way to the right. I have a whole video dedicated to G-Helper and setting it up on my channel :)
