Smart E.R. is a channel dedicated to everything Smart Car related. Reviews,. I now have a Smart 453 (ForFour) and am slowly working my way through content to compliment the 451 stuff.
If you are thinking of buying a Smart For Two or ForFour, or have one and want to learn how to get the most out of it. this is the go to place.
Hi. I am really struggling with mine. Started off by telling me No GPS Signal mid journey. I downloaded Smart Media Connect onto my laptop. Paid for a subscription. Did an update. Now says No Maps Found. Tried uninstall and install again. Still same message 😭
I added the download to my USB stick but when I plug it in to the car it says USB STICK DETECTED, but then it just says no media found? I have checked the download is on there but my car won't recognise it, any ideas?
@@LouiseStanford-s7j first make sure you “eject” a usb stick safely. Delete the download. Reformat the usb stick Reinstall the download Insert usb stick. If it still doesn’t see it try a different stick or SD card If it still doesn’t work you may need a new usb module (I have a video on that) Before you try any of that. Press the “home” button 5 times in quick succession then try the usb stick. Let me know how it goes. Good luck
Nice video, mine was sitting for 7 months and your video gives me more confidence to change the battery Edit I can't find the battery, do you have a link?
Thanks for the kind words Here you go www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224694604016?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=TW-d8XhXQdK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=vhxxnrfttic&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
This is quite an old video now and there has been a further update. Go to your countries SMART website go to support. Then update your tomtom and you will see your update there.
Has it ever worked? 1-try pressing the home button 5 times quickly. Turn the car off then on 2-with the car on, eject the memory card 3-eject the memory card and reinstall the software like in this video Look for the fuse and swap it out. See my other video on fuse location and the link to what each fuse does is in the description of that video Good luck
@@suejordan6576 best of luck. Final thing. If none of those work. Disconnect the car battery for 10 minutes. If it still doesn’t work then I feel the device has failed. And a replacement is required. 😢
a question do you hear tire or road noise in the car, I have a smart 453 2017, and it is load in the car, my tires are 16" continental, I wonder if I am the only one , I have to put the music loud .

Good question. I had recently done a service the week before. Filter was changed then but felt the important bit was to demonstrate the extraction pump.
Thanks for the video. I've located the fuse. But was just wondering how easy is to remove the fuses. I'm trying to check the fuse 14 from the AC, but my fingers are too big to just to pull them out as it is a small fuse.. And was trying to see if there is a fuse clip to help to remove it, and seems there isnt.
Hi. From memory mine had a little red spring loaded scissor clip. But I used pointy nosed pliers as it was easier again but here’s a link to the tool. www.crictable.com/car-fuse-removal-tool/
I tend to use the fixed blade key fob only as its more robust than the flick key fob which breaks easily. An important note about the 453 key fob. The 453 does not tell you that the key fob battery has run out, unlike the previous models that flashed the indicators 7 or 8 times to tell of low key fob battery. (this was we think a cost saving exorcise by Smart). So you can end up in a distant carpark and the keyfob does not work. So you manually have to enter the car via the passenger door lock. So having been caught out in a carpark DOH, I now carry under the passenger carpet a button battery for fixed key CR2016, a button battery for the flick key CR2032, and a 1p coin to open the key fob up. Cheers Col.
Nice video. I always buy the genuine Smart blades from the dealership so I know they do not squeak (for all I know they might be Bosch). I then usually lookout for a mechanic while on the forecourt and look pathetic, so they put the blades on for me LOL. Just a word about the blades, is that some owners complain about wind noise coming from the hole in the wipers and have to fill the hole in with mastic. Not sure what make causes that problem as I only go for original's. cheers Col.
Cheers Col… great participation as ever. The Bosch ones are great!! Ni wind nose at all. Just got a 453 Fortwo auto for the channel… will purchase the Smart ones and do a comparison
@@smarte.r.1450 You will enjoy the Fortwo, its like being in a legalised gokart LOL. I got the Passion Cabrio with 1.0 engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. Great wee machines. Cheers Col.
Thanks for this video. I have looked at other start top devices for the 453 but requires splicing an electronic chip into the wiring of the stop start disable button and also coding was an other option, but have no-one close by to code it out. This device looks so easy with plug and play, so ordered one up and will connect it soon. Just fed up with that stop start rubbish. Cheers Col.
Some people have reported that you have to follow the instructions that come with the device. Mine was just plug it in and it worked but the instructions are turn it off. Turn it on. Wait 30 seconds. Press and hold the button and things like that but it seems to be very reliable and very simple good luck, my friend.
@@smarte.r.1450 No device in there. Apparently the camshaft sensor is showing a fault, many other faults in these cars can show as stop/start issues too. For some weird reason. Batteries in particular. Saw your vid, thought install that device and one less issue to worry about.
Hi Gareth, I am about to get a smart car (Smart Fortwo coupe) and I have had some people give me negative feedback on the car. Just looking for some positive inspiration before getting a car. Aswell where do you get your parts for the smart cars and that might be useful for the future! Cheers!
Well!!! You’re in luck. I have just purchased a 2016 fortwo Coupe. This one is an automatic so if you give me a week, I will do a comparison and Breakdown, if you are on Facebook, you can message me Direct just look for smart ER and I’d be happy to give you some pointers
