In my teens I would have TRIED OUT for the legions as a trainer, which they did not have other than the centerian. I love to think if you could go back in time what, could I do to become caesars friend and you were from the future. He did not believe the reading of Entrails stuff. So no sooth sayer guy. SCIENCE OF WAR, from what I know in history and the how, when and why they tried to kill him the first thing after getting his trust and lending him mobey A OK buddy. 35 thousands in sales must be a lot of money even at a dollar a head back then Speaking of heads, give me the chop it looks scary but definately is the most pain less.

I greatly admire Gauis Julius Caesar. Specifically his force of personality. True, he ordered the slaughter of a million and possibly more. Such were the ancient days. True, he sought power to the utmost extreme. Yet, many of his ideas were altruistic in my opinion and based not only on his supreme rule but also for his love of Rome and the advancement of civilization.

Thank you so much for uploading this. Charlton Griffith who narrates this is among the greatest narrators ever. Maybe it's Griffin ? I can't recall at this time. At any rate he brings the man Gaius Julius Caesar alive as well as these conflicts. I'm torn between admiring Caesar to the point of actually liking him and the deeds he pulled off that were at times beyond the pale. Nonetheless, I've been influenced by this work and the great HBO series ROME in a way that had me hating Caesars enemies. Charlton narrates numerous historical audiobooks. Always perfectly in my opinion. I've heard his narrative talents on both Alexander the Great and Augustus Caesar. 100% fantastico !!!

I think Caesar should of kept the CAVERLY the sane, it is their CLASS LEVEL of Distinction. I am sure you guys out there see the difference in Cless levels. The EQUISTRIAN are rich compared to the infintry. They are more like knights than infentry. So why would Caesar do that?? If only to make the CALVERY FIGHT AND DIE ON THEIR FEET. Which Caesar has mentioned before concerning the Equestrians running away from the fight. If they were Gauls they were good but the Germans were much better. There would be this class distinction in every army, I believe. HORSES COST LOTS OF MONEY for everything they need. Just the water consumption would be huge. You figuare that every morning they drink at least1, 5,gallon bucket, of water, 3x a day. 3x500 horses for a minimun is 1.500, gallons of water. For food our horses had a coffee can of OATS with grain and honey at least 2 times a day. HAY, lots and lots. Caesar was not a caverly kind of guy but loved the Germans against the Gauls in a uprising in Gaul. SLOTTERED?

Easy listening and successfully pitched at the primer level. A shame that it was felt necessary to mix 1932 style middleclass English (such as "orrr-fis", i.e.office & "Orrr-fis-sir", i.e. Officer) with American pronunciations ( such as "Loo- tenant", i.e.Lieutenant, "die-nasty", i.e. dynasty and "rowt instead of route)
