Dear Elder Jeffery R. Holland. I, really needed to hear this reminder today. I, was walking on the sidewalk, when a bicyclist on an electric bike, going very fast almost hit me. I felt anger, but said and did nothing, thinking I should be grateful for not being hit. I, was also trying to calm down after another upsetting situation, where I explained to a group of people not to talk to me, because I needed time to calm down. After that young man nearly hit me, I was once again concentrating on feeling peaceful. Then that same electric bicyclist came from behind me, and I believe tried to hit me. I, had some choice words for him, which I Must repent of. This talk, reminded me to be a follower of Our Savior Jesus Christ, at all Times and in All Places!

Thank you for your question. In Christianity, ordinances like Baptism and the Sacrament are central to our faith and spiritual practice. Baptism is a fundamental ordinance, and its importance is emphasized in the Bible. Jesus Himself was baptized, setting an example for us. In John 3:5, Jesus says, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” This shows that Baptism is essential for entering God's kingdom. In Acts 2:38, Peter further explains, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” This verse indicates that Baptism is necessary for the remission of sins and receiving the Holy Spirit. The Sacrament is also a vital ordinance, symbolizing the covenant we have with Jesus Christ. In Luke 22:19-20, Jesus instructs His disciples: “And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” This ordinance helps us remember Christ’s sacrifice and renew our commitment to follow Him. Both ordinances are essential for spiritual growth and maintaining our relationship with God. They help us remember Christ’s sacrifice and align our lives with His teachings. In addition to Baptism and the Sacrament, which are essential ordinances, we also participate in other sacred ordinances performed in temples. These ordinances are central to our faith and play a crucial role in our spiritual journey and eternal progression. Among these temple ordinances are the following. 1. Endowment: One of the key ordinances performed in the temple is the endowment. This ordinance is a preparatory step for receiving the highest blessings available in the gospel. It involves learning more about God's plan, receiving divine instruction, and making covenants to live righteously. As described in the Book of Mormon, "And it came to pass that the Lord commanded that I should write these things, and I have written them according to the commandments of the Lord" (1 Nephi 9:6). This shows the importance of obedience to God's commandments, which is emphasized in the endowment. 2. Sealing: Another significant temple ordinance is sealing. This ordinance binds families together for eternity. In Malachi 4:6, it is prophesied that, “And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.” The sealing ordinance fulfills this prophecy by uniting families beyond this life. Temples are considered houses of the Lord and places of profound spiritual significance. As stated in Doctrine and Covenants 97:15-16, “For the Lord hath built up Zion, and the inhabitants thereof are the pure in heart; … For this is Zion-the pure in heart.” Participating in these ordinances helps us become more like Christ and prepares us for eternal life. Would you like to learn more?

I attended President Benson's devotional honoring the anniversary of the US Constitution at BYU's Marriott Center (1986 or 1987). The quote, as I remember him referring to it as the "Constitution" hanging as if by a thread, and it'd be the Elders of Israel who would bare it up. At that address, Pres Benson said the prophecy would be fulfilled by the righteous members, men and women, of the Church. I understood it to mean that as we individually live righteously, vote for honest people in governmental positions and stand up for truth and right, defending and upholding the US Constitution, that this nation will be preserved. I pray it may ever be so!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. In our faith, we believe in sharing our beliefs with others, not to impose, but to invite and uplift. The Bible itself encourages believers to share and teach the gospel. For example, in Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus Christ commands His followers: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." (Matthew 28:19-20, KJV). Additionally, in 1 Peter 3:15, we are encouraged to always be ready to give an answer for the hope we have: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." (1 Peter 3:15, KJV). In our faith, we hold certain Articles of Faith, with the 11th one being particularly relevant to this conversation. It states: "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." This principle emphasizes our respect for individual freedom in worship and belief, while also affirming our right to practice our faith according to our convictions. We respect individual agency and understand that everyone has their own journey. Our intention is to offer what we believe to be true and beneficial, and we invite others to explore and consider it for themselves. We value open and respectful dialogue and appreciate your understanding in this matter.

@TheWordsofChrist
@TheWordsofChrist 12 часов назад
I appreciate your curiosity and willingness to delve deeper into these important topics. The process of repentance and the cleansing of sins through the blood of Christ is deeply rooted in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Repentance and Forgiveness in the Bible According to the New Testament, repentance involves a sincere turning away from sin and turning towards God. Jesus Christ taught this in Luke 24:46-47: “Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” The Role of Christ’s Atonement The cleansing of sin is made possible through the atonement of Jesus Christ. In 1 John 1:7, it states, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Repentance in the Book of Mormon The Book of Mormon also emphasizes the necessity of repentance and the power of Christ’s atonement. In Alma 34:17-18, we read, “Therefore may God grant unto you, my brethren, that ye may begin to exercise your faith unto repentance, that ye begin to call upon his holy name, that he would have mercy upon you; Yea, cry unto him for mercy; for he is mighty to save. Yea, humble yourselves, and continue in prayer unto him.” The Process of Repentance In Mormon 9:22, it says "Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth." Importance of Ordinances for Remission of Sin Commandment from Christ: Baptism is commanded by Jesus Christ as a necessary step for entry into His Church and for receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. It symbolizes the cleansing of sin and the commitment to follow Christ. Covenant and Remission of Sins: Ordinances like baptism are not just symbolic but are believed to be essential for making and keeping covenants with God. They signify the washing away of sins and the beginning of a new life in Christ. Following Christ's Example: Jesus Himself was baptized to fulfill all righteousness, setting an example for His followers. By participating in baptism, individuals follow Christ’s example and obey His commandments. Bible Verses on Baptism John 3:5: "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." -- This verse emphasizes the necessity of being born of water (baptism) and of the Spirit (receiving the Holy Ghost) as prerequisites for entering the kingdom of God. Acts 2:38: "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." -- Peter's instruction here clearly links baptism with the remission of sins and receiving the Holy Ghost, affirming its importance in the process of repentance and spiritual renewal. These scriptures together illustrate how repentance and the cleansing of sin are achieved through sincere repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, combined with His atoning sacrifice. The process is both a personal and spiritual journey, guided by the principles taught in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

I’ve had members share with me their “visions” concerning the subject(s) referred to here. There’s nothing new to these words. True or false and by whom said, matters little. Many religions have shared the same “prophesies” or predictions. Just live life the best we can with the beliefs learned over time that can guide and protect us as life trembles on. What we are seeing is the natural evolution of the human race. For good or for evil…the truth will be had within the context of the times.

There is a difference between religion and conversion. We all deal with this to some extent. If not we would be perfect. Even Peter/ Simon had a struggle with this. Jesus told him that he would deny him 3 times. Then the Savior instructed him. ... When thou art converted he was told to strengthen your brethren. Oh, I just had a thought 🤔was Peter's discussion with the risen Lord The final piece to his conversion. I'm sure there was more than these three sentences in that conversation. So now I ask myself am I fully converted? It seems to me that few of us are fully converted. Thank you Elder Holland for your amazing advice. This is something that I will be praying about and pondering as I study the scriptures and take the sacrament.

What is the difference between Christianity and Mormonism?
@TheWordsofChrist
@TheWordsofChrist 17 часов назад
We are centered on the teachings of Jesus Christ, but there are some differences in beliefs and practices. Shared Beliefs in Jesus Christ: Both faiths agree on the divinity of Jesus Christ. In the Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 11:33 describes Christ’s mission to “take away the sins of the world,” reflecting the core Christian belief in His Atonement. This is echoed in the Bible in John 3:16, which says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The Role of Prophets and Revelation: We believe in modern-day prophets and continuing revelation, which aligns with Ephesians 4:11-12, where Paul speaks of apostles and prophets as being given to “perfect the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.” This is consistent with Amos 3:7, which says, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” The Book of Mormon and Additional Scriptures: The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. In 2 Nephi 29:8, it is said, “Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also.” This additional scripture complements the Bible and affirms our belief in Christ. Christ’s Teachings and Our Commitment: We strive to follow Christ’s teachings closely. As Jesus said in Matthew 16:24, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” This mirrors our commitment to live according to His teachings. Unity in Belief: The Book of Mormon also emphasizes unity in Christ. In Moroni 10:32, it states, “Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness.” This reinforces our dedication to following Christ's example. While there are doctrinal differences, such as our belief in modern-day revelation and additional scriptures like the Book of Mormon, our focus and attention is on that of Jesus Christ and His teachings. I encourage you to explore our faith further and learn of the blessings and light and knowledge that would enter your life as you follow the counsel from a true living prophet of God. Note: The term "Mormon" and also the word Mormonism is derived from the name of a prophet and historian in the Book of Mormon. Mormon was a prophet of called by the Lord to compile the records of several ancient American civilizations into what is now known today as the Book of Mormon.

You know the sky preaches a good sermon the problem is that Jesus Christ the son of God never mention Joseph Smith as his prophet never mentioned the book of Mormon once I want to see how the devil works that he could paint a very good picture of a righteous man who has been deceived by the devil who deceived Joseph Smith when the devil came to Joseph Smith in the form of an angel of light there's only one way the book of Mormon can be proved to be authentic and that is if the son of god mentioned it mentioned Joseph Smith mention their polygamy and the fact that Joseph Smith said that in heaven men can have thousands of wives not so Jesus said in heaven we shall not be married but be like the angels of God why because there'll be no need for sexuality it is not in heaven yet the book of Mormon says so so to all you Mormons out there repent of this wickedness and this deception I challenge your elders or anybody that's following Joseph Smith go to a King James Bible and see if Christ mentions Joseph Smith The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints or your polygamy and your devil worship because Christ did not give Joseph Smith the golden tablets the devil did time to wake up Mormons a challenge any one of you or your elders look into the King James Bible and find me Mormonism Joseph Smith or what that Bible says there is no such thing as a companion to the Bible that's why Jesus said it is finished on the cross in the book of Revelations he said I am alpha and Omega the beginning and the end and there is none other and the Mormon church is a church of the devil time for the people to be delivered from it

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate the opportunity to discuss these important matters. It’s essential to approach such topics with respect and an open mind. 1. Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon: While Jesus Christ did not mention Joseph Smith or the Book of Mormon directly in the New Testament, the principle of ongoing revelation is well-supported in the Bible. For example, Acts 3:21 speaks of "the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began." This suggests that God's revelation continues beyond the time of the apostles. 2. Angel of Light: You mentioned the appearance of an angel of light. The Bible does warn us about deception, including the appearance of false angels. However, 2 Corinthians 11:14 states, "And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." It’s crucial to test all things by their fruits, as advised in Matthew 7:16 ("Ye shall know them by their fruits"). We believe the positive fruits of the Restoration, such as increased faith, service, and personal transformation, affirm the validity of Joseph Smith's experiences. 3. The Completeness of the Bible: While Revelation 22:18-19 warns against adding to or taking away from the words of the Bible, we believe that the Bible and the Book of Mormon complement each other rather than contradict. The Book of Mormon is seen as another testament of Jesus Christ that supports and confirms the teachings of the Bible. Additionally, Revelation 14:6 speaks of an angel who would come "having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth," which we interpret as a prophecy about the restoration of the gospel in the latter days. We believe that the Book of Mormon fulfills this prophecy, as the angel Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith and gave him an ancient record that brought forth the everlasting gospel and testified of Jesus Christ alongside the Bible. 4. Final Testimony of Jesus Christ: We acknowledge Revelation 22:13 where Jesus states, "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." Our belief is that the Book of Mormon, along with the Bible, testifies of Christ's divinity and His role as our Savior. We not only believe that the Book of Mormon is true, but also anticipate that other ancient records, which testify of Jesus Christ and His interactions with various peoples, will be revealed as the world prepares for our Savior's return. For a deeper explanation, please watch this video. - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4wWl1oG-E2Y.html Jesus Christ is alive and speaks through a living prophet today. His name is Russell M. Nelson. As Amos 3:7 says, "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." President Nelson receives guidance from the Lord on how to lead and direct His Church on Earth, preparing us for Christ's return. We invite you to seek personal revelation through prayer and study, as encouraged in James 1:5, to gain your own understanding. Thank you for engaging in this discussion with us.
