Wraith Designz is a 2D/3D Graphics Company, dedicated to tutorials as well as game play videos. I started this media company in late 2007, and in 2012 I created this channel. Thank you for all who watch, comment, and engage with my content. I hope these videos will help you learn more and be useful in your day to day workflows. I'm glad you're giving Unreal Editor 2.5 the attention and love it deserves. I wish UT2004 and Killing Floor were as popular now as much as Garry's Mod so we would have more mods and maps to have fun with, and this is coming from someone who never used or even played any of the Unreal games. I grew up with Half-Life 2, and Quake games, and only really used Hammer Editor for map editing, so I really have no experience with the Unreal series other than a few games that ran on the engine (Deus Ex, and Postal 2 for Unreal Engine 1, and Unreal Engine 2 respectively)

ty! I try. I started with this engine, well, UT99's version, but it is what helped me get into and learn everything else. If it wasn't for UnrealEd/Unreal Engine I'd be screwed lol. I have tons of pdfs and files with info on Unreal engine 2/2.5 if your interested. I will have to find a way to upload some to a drive online so thel ink is openly available. I also wish there was more on the KF SDK, sucks there isn't.

Blockbuster and Unreal Engine 2, a beautiful nostalgia piece. I believe the lighting could be adjusted tho.

How are you using the HD textures with the PC version?

@@gabrielfpontes they are not HD textures. But I am trying to figure out how I can actually import HD textures within the original files however I'm wondering if the UV space that the textures are using if that will matter I also know that they use a different technique in a sense of how they use the textures on the models it isn't like a typical UV layout it's actually just squares that are overlapped over certain parts of a texture trim sheet I guess so in that sense yes possibly you could replace the HD textures however it would have to be the same resolution as the UV map of the model or you have to find a way to up that UV map resolution leave it the same way that it was but make sure it just encompasses say like a 2K or 4K texture then they can become HD without an issue and they'll still look the same way as the developers put it in there because like I said they use a trim sheet to actually texture their models and simply just use the polygons of the model itself to then be those polygons that will be used over the trim sheets so that's why the trim sheets will look really small with only a few details but you'll see it repeated over and over even with like say ambient occlusion lines baked into certain parts of the texture so that would be like say next to a sidewalk a bottom of a building things like that

@@WraithDesignz If you figured it out let me know, anyway man thanks for your work, also, i think you should try using this version of reshade ray tracing Silent Hill with the recent Third Person Camera Mod it just came out, I've been using this reshade (without the Ray Trace because i don't have the money to buy RTGI) with the Modern Camera Mod and it's been fricking fantastic man.

a question about the assets naming. where it says 256x261. how do you setup units like that in 3ds max.

So that was just naming preference really but because it helps me remind myself that is the dimensions of the model when I first made it, and once you turn it edit poly mode, you can't see it unless you do edit poly mode in the right side menu/stack instead of right clicking and converting, or simply collapsing a stack into the modifier "Edit Poly", as it won't be destructive in nature. I could view the "Box" and it's dimensions before it went into edit poly mode and that's cool, but just easier to name it for myself this way. And the units i have setup in my project are the same as it is in KF1, 1 Unreal Unit = 0.75 Inches of real world measurement. so 16 Unreal Units or UU, would equal a foot. The character bounding box at least from my own testing, is like around 112 to 120 height, and i think 60 to 64x64 in width around so the 256x256 works pretty well. Rule of thumb usually is, the larger the environment your making, the larger increments in grid size you want to aim for or work with. So say, 16 or 32 even for buildings and interiors, but for smaller details like, debris, rocks, trash, go down to like 8 or even 4, but best to stay within 8, 16, 32, and maybe, maaaaybbbeeee 64 lol. This works too, if you go into the grid home setup of 3DS Max, (right click the big "3" icon next tot he snap icons, rotate icons etc, and go to the "Home Grid Tab" its pretty self explanatory, You will figure it out there too) I will make a video showing quickly how to change grid, scale etc so anybody can do it fast or save templates ready for building in whatever engine they choose.

damn wish this was released a year ago when i played silent hill 2 but good work. anyone reading ths comment get the mod and discover the game and also check the poly count and how the levels and everything else works. I wish there were more tools like this so people can see how old games worked and their poly counts etc. thank you for sharing this. also a question, does this works with the silent hill 2 HD mod too ?

@@maxgordon3194 this works with all versions on PC it just takes the data files so that you can open them up and view them basically it's map files and CDL files so if you look at how it's actually done you basically look in the data folder let's say BG or bg2 folder after that and then you'll go in and see these files of which you can open them up some of them may not display some of them may crash the program but just keep trying and if you have to make a list of what works and what doesn't I do that too and it will help you be able to recreate maps and levels from the game four other games or for maps to play on I'm doing the same thing right now for the game Killing Floor 1 and 2 going to recreate southvale and then the rest of Silent Hill as I can find the files and put them together and prepare them for each game engine

It can be done. Just need to convert the files to a file format GMod understands and make sure scale and unit sizes are proper. :)

I will make a video soon how to use the program, but in general, I just went into the SH2 game folder, then Data, then into say BG, then you can load .map or .cdl files and it will show them already textured, but you can turn off textures, shadows, etc as well and also see wireframe, both on the textures or without.

1:07 this one my favorite parts, when I was playing this as kid. Grating in middle of asphalt, otherworld merging with regular stuff. It's very unique, I think, there is no Silent Hill part with something like that, other than Silent Hill 1.

That room in between in Silen hill 3 where you can hear the muffled conversations almost like muffled dinner conversation was a brilliant example of surrealism and using liminal spaces and audio to create psychological horror, these are the details and the perspective that all of the developers post-team silent didn’t comprehend
