Did you check if the fan powered on under full load? some power supplies have the quiet mode button which shuts off the fan unless it's under load so I'm sure it would have been fine as long as once it was under load it was able to power the fan, also instead of drilling holes into your noctua fan you might have tried the rubber mounting tabs instead of screws I'm interested to know if they could have stretched enough to secure the fan

Paired the HD6xx with ifi stack. Had a replica Graham Slee Ultra Linear Solo sitting around and really surprised how good the soundstage sounds. Preferable to the ifi CAN.

Here’s a simple way to store those foam pads so the adhesive won’t stick to anything. Those adhesives are aggressive and even sticking them to the side of a polyethylene bag may result in their being really difficult to peel back away without damage to them or the bag tearing (who cares about the bag but you wouldn’t want parts of it stuck to the adhesive on the foam, since that would occlude airflow if reinstalled where it originally was in the back of the housings; making them even more bassy than before). Go find one of those adhesive label sheets used in inkjet or laser printers, peel off the paper labels and use the part you’d normally discard as the storage placard for the removed foam rectangles. Be sure to stick the foams to the SHINY side and not the bare paper backside. At that point, you can put the foams in a Baggie or whatever and not have to worry about them sticking to anything other than the easily-removed placard. Don’t smoosh them onto the placard. Apply just enough pressure to make certain they won’t be going anywhere while in storage. The old label placards they used to provide for labeling floppy disks also work fine, but floppies are on the endangered species list and those labels may now be hard to find. If you have a Teflon-coated surface of any kind or just a square of Teflon plastic itself; almost nothing sticks to that with any degree of bonding strength. Another alternative is to use plain old wax paper. That’s not the preferred method since the wax they use on that stuff might leech into the adhesive over time and ruin the properties of the adhesive. Any time an adhesive backed foam threatens to tear apart when trying to peel it off, a stream of warm air from a hair dryer often softens the adhesive just enough to peel the foam up without damage. Watch the temperature…some hair dryers get really hot and can melt or soften the ABS from which a lot of headphone shells are molded. You can also make your own foam acoustic impedances from certain grades of foam sheeting and get that to stick over grilles using a spray adhesive on one side. A general purpose adhesive like 3M Type 77 works well. You NEVER spray it directly onto the foam. It has to be applied using a transfer method: spray a light coat of the adhesive onto something like a piece of printer paper, take your precut foam and holding it with tweezers; lightly touch the entire side of the foam to the sprayed area. That transfers just enough adhesive to the foam to get it to stick without clogging up the pores. Work quickly…that adhesive dries fast. Once the foam has the adhesive applied, simply place it where it belongs and GENTLY press it down. Let it set for a couple of hours and you’ll have a fresh acoustic impedance to try out once you get the phones reassembled.

This video was super helpful 5 years back when I had got the poker. Trying to set it up again as this keyboard still feels the most comfortable. Which keyboard are you using now as it’s been 6 years since this video 😀

Im upgrading my gaming rig this weekend and I was contemplating the possibility to get a new case but all the new cases now have a tempered glass side panel and im installing a Nvidia 40xx series card with a vertical bracket so that big side panel fan going to keep the card cold and supply a good volume of fresh air, the RTX 40xx series are massive cards and going to fit very well, anything fits in this case, 12 years in service with me and I dont plan to change it, the dust is true, drags and build up a lot of dust but is easy blow some air when is need, it going to be less dusty if the case in located on top of a desk or elevated from the plain floor with something like a box, bracket or step stool.

I can exchange my old Techniques head shells. I have several that fit and work just fine. Overall a great review, I own one and am very happy with it considering it is a replacement for a Techniques 1200 and 1800. Quite a downgrade from the classic turntables I owned from the 1970's, but also not the maintenance night nightmare that they became. The belt also is the same size that fits many turntables from the 1970's. Also, even my direct drive turntables had vents in the platters. You have to head back to rim drive turntables of the 50's and 60's to not see those.

hiss does not go away with bal input, his is here when no audio cables are connected so great for the price but 305 has this tweeter hiss problem (like 90% of entry level powered speakers with shitty class D amp, mackie cr4 first gen has class AB amp that does not hiss but sound is worse than 305). kali lp6 v2 or adam f5 are a bit more expensive but their hiss is inaudible

I just ordered one. I have a desktop with dedicated graphics and work from home laptop. Because of the dedicated GPU. I had to get creative (No way to use a dock) with USB switching , Audio and Display. Hopefully its better than some of the amazon switchers I have returned for noise or volume level.

Thanks for making this video. So this can be used the reverse as well? Plugging the Schiit Modi into the output and then the two inputs as outputs? I have my tv connected to the modi via toslink and have it connected to a mixer which then connected to a powered speaker. I would actually also like to directly connect the modi and the powered speaker directly instead of going to the mixer. So I am looking for the reverse application of the SYS.

I had even bigger temp differences! Recently upgraded some parts of my PC and accidentally put the hyper 212 facing towards the GPU. Tried it for a few weeks but I was getting CPU temps up to 60+ celsius even just when watching videos on Chrome. In games, it was going up to 75 degrees. Changed it back to what it was before I upgraded (basically just the conventional way with the hyper 212 at a 90 degree angle to the GPU) and went back to 45-50 degrees max when watching videos, or around 60 degrees when gaming.

I did similar operation on my old Antec HCG 900, but using arctic p14 fan. At first glance, it was great. But even at full speed, the fan wasn't moving enough air too cool down the psu under prolongated heavy load (7-800w), making the system shutting down. The original fan is a 2500+ rpm ADDA

It collected more dust then any other case I have owned with 6x120mm top1x140mm rear and the original front fan I blocked the air holes with a sheet of plexiglass on the side panel to stop the dam dust and now has a I9 9900k.

It's not about horizontal or vertical. It's about whether or not cpu fan and case fan are aligned. If not aligned, hot air gets stuck in the case. Then, the lengthy side of the heatsinks should be horizontal to the airflow direction, for more heat transfer.
