Fishing, travel and the great outdoors... here you’ll find stories about my experiences fishing for different species in all kinds of locations, both here in the UK and in other parts of the world.
Hey Andy! Thanks for the wonderful video! i landed here cause im traveling to thailand in november and im visiting the Khao Sok National Park. Did you booked a guiding or know if there is a way to book a guiding for this area? Sadly i have no fishing equipment with me, so i am dependent on an guidance.
Andy Hart ? are you the Andy hart I use to play Hockey with. I also taught music with you mother at UB. I was the only black hockey player with my cousin Winston Bish. I'm Doug Simmons on Face Book. I Just wanted to say Hi. Have a Blessed day and don't forget to Enjoy Life.
Hi Andy .. came across your video .. need some advice please…I am due fishing in Thailand next year for a few species including arapaima Which hooks would you advise me to get please ? I bought 4/0 & 6/0 Mustad Circle hooks. Thanks
Hi John. Yeah those will probably be fine, actually all of the resort venues that stock arapaima supply all the tackle and bait anyway so there's usually no need to bring anything. Some even insist you use their tackle, or at least will need to approve what you bring, so I wouldn't worry too much about terminal tackle. They'll know what works best for their species. If you know what venues you'll be fishing you could just ask them directly. Cheers for watching, I'm sure you'll have an awesome trip out there next year. Give me a shout if you have any other questions.
nice fish. neither thai, nor japanese like to eat this fish. in japan they dont, because the rumlr since ww2 is that they fed on the corpses of japanese solidrs. they are voracious eaters because they dont live that long and are growing fast continuously. and cery nice fish to eat, raw, steamed, sauted or grilled. more for me!
You can catch them any time of the year really but I hear the best time is after they've spawned and they are protecting their young, you can see red balls of the fry near the surface and cast into those. Worth asking a guide about that if you want to go, I'm not really sure but some people say end of the rainy season is a good time. Thanks for watching!
@@user-fo2el6jm7n It was called 'Chiewlarn Fishing' on Facebook when I went but that was a few years back, you'd have to have a look and see if they're still operating. The contact guy is Khun Ek. It was based in Surat Thani. Best of luck with your trip
Hi Andy, what’s your favourite tench water in Essex? All things considered including things like secure venue, no litter etc. obviously the fishing has to be good but I’d sooner sit in nice surroundings and have a few fish out, rather than tons of fish but sitting amongst beer cans and crisp packets. Nice video!
Thanks Peter, I only really got to fish a couple of day ticket venues for tench, probably Chigborough main lake on a weekday would be favourite, i don't remember rubbish being a problem there and there's a decent head of tench too as you can see, worth a go
Took three fish to snap you up before you realised you were “undergunned”? So that’s three left with hooks in.. turned it off at that point, embarrassing.
Thank you! The guys I went with are a Thai outfit, on FB called 'Chiewlarn fishing', but I can also recommend Neil from 'Fishing Khaolak' who knows Chiewlarn well. It's an epic place, I'm sure you'll enjoy
Nice! I went out of Khao Lok 3 or 4 years ago. I am not sure it was from the same boat as we launched from the beach, but it looks very similar. I caught one big one and had to go back due to my wife being sick. That was one of the strongest fish I have ever caught!
@@andyhartfishing cheers thanks for the reply, I noticed it was the ones you was using on your summertime session video my bad 😄 thanks I’ll check them out nice to try something different other than a boilie on the hair
@@millwallfan06 Yeah I think the pellets worked better at Slough than boilies, the big cats in there like the pellets as well. Good luck with your fishing :)
This was a few km's offshore from Khao Lak, which is just north of Phuket. You can get in touch with Neil of Fishing Khaolak to organize a trip. This day was at the end of March, seas are usually calm during high season from about December to March. Best of luck if you decide to go, I'm sure you'll enjoy it
Yes, it's a great little venue. We only did a couple of sessions on there, caught plenty and I really enjoyed it, would definitely like to spend a bit more time there
Liked and subscribed. It's Paul from Two Novice Anglers here. A great video. We really enjoyed it. Can I ask about the line and the hook size please? I am guessing the fishery provided the rod? Thanks.
Many thanks Paul. If I remember rightly, the line was 80lb braid and the hook would've been one for carp, maybe a size 2 UK size, as I caught that arri on the lam rod. Usually hooks for arri fishing would be bigger though. A few places use circle hooks for them. And yes, the fishery provides all the tackle, don'e need to take any of your own. Thanks for the sub, best of luck with your fishing!
Planning to do a little fly fishing on the river with some coarse flies. Not knowing the area, anywhere you'd recommend for some November stalking? Also are there bailiffs around or do you pay for your ticket in a spect tackle shop?
We fished the hoe mill lock area i think it's called, just a couple of trips during summer so I'm not sure about autumn form, probably best to stay mobile and move about until you find the fish. As for tickets, the sign there says day tickets can be bought on the bank. Best of luck!
@@andyhartfishing that's whats great about fly fishing, very mobile, no seats and £1000 of gear on tripods. Will let you know how I get on. Ideally looking for a few small pike, but any fish is great
@@Johnnyalexwales Absolutely, always fancied getting into the fly fishing myself... look forward to hearing how it goes for you, there are certainly plenty of jacks about
The River Colne runs through Colchester. I've never fished it though, so I don't know if it's any good for chub fishing, you'd have to do a bit of research :-)
One of my favourite places to fish and great tench fishing in the lake up to 9 1/2 lbs I fished this place for more than 30 years had plenty of big carp in the margins fishing for the tench nice to see you make a video of this place the back Pool is very good
Thanks Nick, I really enjoyed my time on there, wasn't able to get over this year, but would definitely like to get back for another go on the float one day. Always thought there must be a few big tench swimming about in there, something to think about for next summer... cheers for watching.
Hi, I think it's under the name 'Chiewlarn Fishing' on Facebook, the contact guy is Khun Ek. Based in Surat Thani. I went with them a few times, they organized the boat, the fishing and the accommodation for me, all good, no hassles.
Thanks Matous, No all of the equipment was supplied, didn't have to take any tackle. Get in touch with Neil of Fishing KhaoLak company if you want to give it a go, it's a great day's sport, highly recommended!
Great place to fish but the rest of the canal is full of poxy unlicensed paddle boarders who don't pay like me to use the canal for fishing..I was there today and had a load of the C's go straight past me without even an apology.
Had some great tench out of Doggets over the years. Bread flake works well especially in the later months of summer. Gerry, (Using my partner Joan’s account).
Yeah it's a nice little lake, i haven't managed to get back over there this year yet.. we had most of our fish on corn but I think we did have one or two on bread, I'll keep that in mind
Yeah, started a few years back, first one was at gillhams funny enough...! cheers for watching Lawrence, good to see you've been getting out and catching a few...
Definitely the best video on a tackle shop I've seen. I used to like Danny's from his shop in Norwich but the picture quality on this one tops it. 👍🏼🙏🏼🍾🍾🍾🍾
Love Tench fishing at Doggetts. Used to get the odd bonus big Crucian. Not sure if you still do, in fact I only remembered I did when I was typing this comment!
Ye when they switch on the action comes thick and fast, they were crawling up the rods on that trip, nightmare casting PVA bags out though in all that rain..!
