Welcome to NowskiDyes! Time lapse glue bed dyes are my jam. I have been dyeing since November 2020 and wanted to show off my process. It has been a hit so far and I am excited to grow this channel and my videos the best I can.
I just attempted my first glue bed dye. I followed as best I could with your process. In the video, your colors are so vivid, and solid. Very opaque and you can clearly see each color. I mixed my pro chem with 100% acetone. My results are frustratingly different. I could barely see the colors in the glue bed, almost like I mixed them thin. So I mixed quite a bit more in each of the tiny jars, I let them settle for about 2 minutes, and when I could see that the excess dye was settling to the bottom, I went back to applying it to the bed, but it seemed like no matter how much I added, I never even got close to the clarity that you have here. It was hard to even try to then blend it in the bed, and push it around, because the colors could not be seen as easily as yours are. I'm positive I've got plenty of pro chem in the tiny jars, I'm positive I am using the correct acetone, and glue... about the only thing I can think of that's different is you're using a white container for your bed, mine is clear. I picked mine up because it was literally 5$ at hobby lobby, and it's a 1" deep tray on it's own lazy suzan. Comes in pretty handy for spinning the angles so I can see the bed from another angle. I laid a white disc in it about a half hour ago, so I'll report back tomorrow night. I hope it turns out halfway decent, but I'm not expecting perfection. It's my first time. I just wish I could see my colors as vividly as we see them in your video. Thank you.
Wow. You just kept pushing the yellow around. It started as 2 puddles on the sides. I thought it was spread out and you kept going and it kept getting better. The bendy straw is the way to go if your doing a crazy swirl like this. You inspired me with this one! Great job!!!!!
Bad Azz Dye Jobs! Not sure which video it was but you mentioned watering down your glue bed. Is that so you can manipulate / move the acetone dye around better? How much do you dilute it? Mix ratio? Do you mix worm dye with acetone or lotion for lotion dyes or apply it straight? Thanks
Honestly, I torched the bed too much and it created a film on top of the glue it seems. The dye was resting on top instead of spreading like it should. That’s why I had to stir the dye drops for them to spread more.
Great Job, love the disc. Just a quick question. When you are dying the disc border and underneath, are you just using your dye mixed with poly? Looks like you are just painting it on til it is the shade you want. Do you have to let that sit for a period of time as well?
I’m using spike it lure dye for the spin dye. It’s more vibrant then my acetone mixtures. I like to let it sit for a day before I wash the discs after the spin dye.
Do you ever dye on colors? For example I have a bright yellow Star Mako3. If I were to put blue on it would it look green? Would red be orange? Or would they come out as the color they should be? Also, where are you finding white discs!?!? This has turned out to be the toughest part of the disc dying process!!! White discs are hard to find! Any advice or recommendations would be great! Liked and subscribed 👍😁🥏🥏🥏⛳
Just wanted to say that if you have the money it’s really worth while to invest in a cheap blowtorch to get those bubbles out before adding the dye, you can also use it after you add the dye to the bed but you might need to add a couple drops more of dye afterwards. If you don’t have the money for one you can pull a lot of this bubble out using a toothpick, it takes a lot longer with the toothpick but still worthwhile if you want that really clean final result!
That came out nice. I have swirled the whole pan around like that a few times after pulling the disc and always wondered if it would work too swirl the entire bed at once.
I always wonder, the last stage of finishing the edges these dyes just seem to be painted on. Is there still a sit and rinse timer for that part, or is it such a thin coating it's not really necessary?
@@nowskidyes2740 That was it exactly. Thanks for the answer. I've picked up my own dyes to give this a shot but the end spins never seem to mention it because it often comes in at the end of a video.
