Welcome to Car Apprentice! My name is Ben, and I'm very happy to have you here.

I started learning how to work on cars mainly out of necessity; my 1992 Acura Legend was starting to show its age, and I knew I would have to learn how to maintain and repair it myself if I wanted to keep it...or fatten up my bank account. Once I started, though, I got hooked!
I created this channel to pass on knowledge I've gained working on cars and to learn from others who visit the channel. We'll approach automotive repair and maintenance from the relative novice's perspective, and you'll frequently hear safety, using proper tools and techniques, and torque specs mentioned in the videos.

I just removed mine. Thanks so much for the video. Question, why did you remove the cat? To prevent o2 sensor cord from breaking? I had enough slack that i didn't have to touch the cat or o2 sensor, came out fine. Advice for people doing this job. Get the harbor freight Jack crossbar. Have air tools. 1/2 impact and a cordless ratchet. I also tied off my steering wheel so i didn't have to remove it. Be aware if you do this you can cause damage by turning wheel. Also the HF PITTSBURGH crows foot worked for me. That and the pressure sensor were the hardest parts of the job. Wasn't nearly as hard as i thought. Let's pray my third party one lasts..

Also, advice for videos. Sometimes you start zoomed in on a part and i don't know if you're on driver or passenger or underneath. Maybe either start kinda zoomed out and pan into the work area, or just say "this is passenger side wheel well next to the so-and-so," would add a lot of value for little effort.

Since I'd never removed a Pilot steering rack, I played it safe by following the service manual. I agree that the steering wheel doesn't have to be removed - tried to prevent viewers from damaging the clock spring. Glad it worked out for you. Thanks for the feedback.

@kennethlewis6606 It can be intimidating for some people, so I always recommend reviewing the procedure to determine the tools and materials needed and assess whether it's best left to a mechanic. You may know me from before, I took your advice and didn’t do the flush and did the drain came out great but it still does a lil jerk when I step on it. But it drives great when I normally drive I did some research and came to the valve bodies in the transmission and being dirty leads to the known transmission problems for early year Acuras. it shifts perfectly through all gears, it hasn’t been a problem but I just been concerned.

If this behavior coincides with warmer weather, my guess is that the main relay under the dash is failing. Honda main relays are notorious for cracked solder joints that expand with heat, cutting power to the fuel pump. The joints can normally be repaired. One quick test of the main relay is to heat it with a hair dryer to verify the no-start condition, then place the relay in the freezer (in a plastic bag) or hit it with cold spray.

I did this job when we first bought our 07 Pilot in 2018 with 187,000 miles on the OD. Had to replace the low pressure line from the condenser, which was seized to the condenser so that got replaced along with the dryer. I vacuumed it out and replaced it at that point and it lasted till June of 2024. I just bought my wife a 2015 Pilot so I am glad it lasted this long. The 07 is my daily driver now.
