Award-winning restoration of a medieval, French castle and 130 acre forest in remote France. Watch as we return it to a working, living estate as it was in centuries past.
The Chronicles of Chateau de Rosieres charts the ups and downs of our little family, living and working in a remarkable medieval chateau in Ardeche, along with a large menagerie of birds and animals. It's messy, fun and authentic.
Whether you're a fan of homesteading or history, wildlife or DIY, there's something for all, so come and join the family!
We now have a second RU-vid channel covering the gardens and estate. Check out The Lost Gardens of Chateau de Rosieres to follow. www.youtube.com/@LostGardensofChateauRosieres
Amy, you are doing a fantastic job of prepping for a significant event. ... and running a home, farm, event venue. Bonne chance, mon ami. You deserve every good thing. Cheers!
Love this video. Family etc come first,we will wait Amy and Mark. Loved the part with the cows ,you leading the way and Mark and the children behind in the tractor. What fun!. And to coin the words of a Queen track I guess the cows when they escaped just 'Wanna break free' 🤣
Amy, thank you for taking the time to give me such a complete answer when you are so busy. All the things I wrote to you and to which you so kindly responded are all things that we had to consider when doing something similar in Prince George’s County, Maryland. All were governed by regulations ( there were more). I just wanted to help you think through all the concerns that such an activity in such setting can bring up. I love your positive and optimistic attitude and I will be impressed if your French townsfolk and neighbors turn out to be as hardy, independent, self -reliant and determined to let no obstacles hinder their enjoyment as you describe. It will be a tribute to the mindset of longtime villagers in a rural area who have come to rely on their own resources to navigate the considerable challenges living in a rugged mountainous environment. I can imagine it would be very comforting to have such fellow residents and neighbors on whom one can rely on like that. I admire you and Mark’s willingness to boldly tackle such a project on short notice. Not everyone has that kind of courage. I can see you are a great pair. Just two others items to consider: rain? and opportunistic escaped horned animals on the night of the concert. I believe having backup to backup plans is always helpful... It is true that many Americans are whined and in need of careful supervision. That’s why we have to have so many laws. And the events we were in charge of permitting drew people from far flung areas of a large and in part highly populated county and from surrounds of a huge and growing metro area. So lots of structure was needed. At any rate, I wish you great success; I hope all goes smoothly and everyone has a very enjoyable experience that they yearn to repeat next year.
Amy, I think you are doing a great job with this! This was still a very pretty video. The cows are lovely and I real like your sweater/ jumper! Haha I like every as you can!!!! With joy, Audri
Maybe one of those electrical tape fences are in order. I would have said 20 euros if asked is fair and reasonable. What if you got sponsor from a local winery might help with funding and a cheese farm? You can build commode like the Victorian ones fill with ash if you have any and surround with a marquee? Hanbury Hall in midlands still have them around you can ask to see them by photo might give you an easier and faster way to have toilets. It's a National Trust building sure they would help you :)
A cowtrastafie. We had 30 cows that would go for a country side walk. Lets not talk about the rambling pigs.Amy you need a carrot. Oh wait wrong animal.
I’m pretty sure I ‘d have those cattle turned into steaks soon. Not fair to ask you to manage those and all the other stuff and you could get seriously hurt like Mark did and no one around to help. Maybe you could trade them for donkeys, a more manageable livestock choice. Seems like they’d do better on flat land. How does all this do with wild boars??I assume you have them. Seems like most of France does.
The problem on just one loo is that those who need facilities and can’t access that loo will do their “ duty” in uncontrolled areas. Not good with kids and animals around. Eyyyyy.
Jane please don’t worry. Even if people want to see somewhere it’s not a problem. It’s the countryside. Our animals wee everywhere all the time. So does our son.
Amy, the cows remind me of my own teenage boys, meaning, they have plenty of energy to get into mischief but are suddenly exhausted when you need them to do anything productive at the house 😊
No! The cows escaped to a housing estate, that is crazy. I love the way you hang out with your animals😅❤. I hang out with our dog, he loves my company 😅😅😅😅
Hello Amy. All good wishes to you and your English teaching at the school. The cows are very naughty, for goodness sake. Escaping cows looking for conkers!
Loving the whole atmosphere in this video, Amy. The low sunlight, the buzzing insects, the sloping field, the runaway cows, the calming music, your lovely children en your ‘well-thats-how-it-is’ attitude 😁😊👌🏽 You are brilliant! Sending you and Marc (and the whole menagerie) sunny greetings from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
Oh dear sweet Amy, so pretty in blue🩷. I’m so sorry you’re so busy & not much help!! Don’t worry about us, just take care of yourself & more important stuff❣️. I think you’re doing your best & I appreciate what you’re doing❣️
We will send Margot some photos. We have an outdoor arraignment at the family cabin and it is great. Lime dust after use and some colorful posters bang all good! A true room with a view!
You and the cows hanging out cracked me up 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣What a situation. Well done getting them back. Clement and Juliet are growing so fast. Good luck 🍀 getting everything ready 😍😘
Don't you know the grass is always sweeter where you ain't supposed to be?!! Watching you move them...I thought my dog was stubborn..they have him beat!!😂😊
Hi Amy, I'm sorry, for my previous message I sent some advice about keeping it simple. You most likely have more experience organizing than I. You have everything but your naughty cows under control. After that walk with the cows, I would have needed to go to the nearest closet with a pillow in hand and a good scream! I think the concert will be a remarkable success. Everyone loves music and if you don't make money this year, it sounds like you'll make a brilliant impression on everyone and next year and the following years it will be more and more of a success. That's what I should have written and I'm so sorry I didn't. (Both thoughts were in my head. I'm not making this up; your ability to get things done with two children running around and a husband who is passionate and involved in his stuff floors me every time!) Most of all, I hope you can enjoy the process. Enjoying the cows' escape is not expected!
You’re very kind! Life here is always a challenge but I guess we have it set up that way. Yesterday I got to wander around a field at sunset for 2 hours rather than sit at my desk working. I feel like thanking the cows rather than telling them off!
Hi, you gotta love the real life tribulations but the cows in the local estate was so funny, it's all part of being young and growing up. Just think of it as amassing funny anecdotes for the future. Loving what your doing btw
