Where's the jail, in case someone commits murder at the station?
@thommosaussieadventures2654
@thommosaussieadventures2654 3 месяца назад
No Gaol in Aussie stations, if a serious crime was committed a person would be detained in a bedroom and if they were violent medical sedation would be administered, they would then be removed from station back to Australia as soon as possible and the Australian Federal Police would be waiting for them upon return.

@@thommosaussieadventures2654 Thanks. With ocean cruises I know what they do: Years ago on a cruise one of the passengers got into a fight and severely injured another. After that, I was suspicious of a room down the hall from mine, where there was always a cruise employee sitting on a chair outside. I finally asked him "is this where the prisoner is being kept." He said yes. They kept him locked in his room until the cruise was finished in San Diego.

Hey all, I do earthwork and landscaping but have no experience doing work in Antarctica and doing this sort of thing. I'm wondering why yall don't use snow cats like they use to groom ski and snowmobile trails? Thy have more versatility in the blades and have super low ground pressure but obviously there's a reason dozers are better, just curious. Thanks!
@thommosaussieadventures2654
@thommosaussieadventures2654 6 месяцев назад
Hey mate, there are quite a few reasons we don't use snow groomers for the bulk work of moving snow because the snow is so windpacked and hard that snow groomers are too delicate for the constant battering, bulldozers are more reliable than snow groomers, dozers can push more materialin one pass, easier to get operators from Australia with dozer experience as as we are slot dozing the exta articulation of a snow groomer blade isn't needed, we use the dozers rippers to bust up pure blue ice to then push that and we move our buildings (80 tonnes) twice a year with dozers and the groomers wouldn't have the pulling power and traction for that. We have the low ground pressure tracks on the dozers but don't really need them, the snow isn't light and fluffy were we are based so no chance of sinking into it and getting bogged. We do have two prinoth bisons to help around the runway and till a surface on the ice to land planes but the dozers do the bulk of the work with snow management.
