Honestly the game still isn't ready for a release, even though we had 3 months beta (that was sold as a $40 feature) and the game has been out for 2 months. Classes are unbalanced, yet S tier classes get buffed even further (I'm looking at you Frost DK, Enhancement and Arcane Mage), a bunch of achievements are bugged thus making them unobtainable. Reputations are timegated, like even though I did all the WQs, weekly quests and some rare mobs I'm still only around renown 20-23 in 2 months. Not to mention the big revolutionary warband does nothing if you cannot repeat these activities on alts to make rep grinds faster. The worldsoul event is really empty and dead imo. I mean all it is "just kill mobs for 5 minutes" without any big rewards (a quarter of a coffer key isn't a big thing). You get a title for killing 20 rares but for each radiant run you need to complete 5 bountiful delves before, so in reality you get to try once per week for like 3 rares off the list. Theatre Troupe should have a bit more activities, achievements and rewards, kinda like Time Rifts. Instead it's the same "log in once a week, do the minimum activities in a minute and then afk for the next 5 mins" and just forget about it for yet another week. Awakening the Machine is also in a similar shoe, there just isn't any reason to repeat it more than once per week. I mean at least it drops a mount but besides that and a coffer key it has nothing to offer. And now to delves, oh boy. Some classes can easily solo a T8 20 ilvl lower than recommended, while others even being way above recommended ilvl get killed by just 3 mobs because Brann is such an useless companion. Even on a 615 retpally I sometimes get those 2mil unavoidable hits. If it would be properly balanced any class/spec should breeze through it easily with ease. After all, this is the "casual solo adventure". Plus there is no reason to go up to 11 except the achievements. It really should drop some hero gear to make me wanna do them more than once. And then there is Brann, who is not only useless as a DPS but as a Healer as well. It's so annoying whenever he forgets to drop potions onto the floor or just drops them into the wall. I wish he would work like a hunter or warlock pet where I could control whatever spell he is using (like not drop the bomb on a 1.5mil trash, or the raptor). Hopefully they will patch up the game for Season 2 but I have doubts. Until then, time to farm the 20th anniversary event, since I have nothing more to do besides high M+ keys and Mythic raiding.
Cope harder. Its a woke abomination and a long dead game. They still follow their lazy, dead world expansion formula and the writing is probably more insulting than ever. Slop for the most useless eaters of the world. Enjoy doing instanced content or spending 2 more years in 4 crappy zones, suckers.
A long time FF14 veteran, I got into WoW in the Legion Expansion and have been playing every since. While I enjoy both ff14 and WoW, TWW and the quality of life changes are a wonderful touch to WoW.
I'm sorry but this alleria is the same as tyrande in shadowland, anduin same as thrall when he killed garrosh, the villain boring, the music is the only good thing but gets repetitive in every zone. I like the game but for the price tag, kinda you expect something better, the game mechanics same since the lich king, hero talents ? Bunch of passives. I'm sorry but the expansion it's 4 of 10.
Top-notch review as always. TWW got me that close to resubbing and getting back into Mythic prog, looks like an incredibly good time. Unfortunately would take too much to work to enter the scene again, but still, as of right now it's THE theme park MMO to beat and that's before factoring in the ecosystem they built around it via Classic and SoD.
great video ...I think its a very good expansion although i am in and out of wow after legion it cant keep me entertained till now but the dark side of the game isnt obvious at first mythic+ and pvp have huge problems and need improvements
The thing is, aside from the Warbands, many of the gameplay mechanics have been implemented since Dragonflight. But because of how Shadowlands was a mess, people didn't really give Dragonflight a try! Amazing video btw. <3
The worst expansion so far, somehow worse than shadowland. Lazy story writting, not logical and conflict with the past, dead pvp scene. Pve, ppl play mmos for its duns and raids and this time the duns is somehow so bad, class balance = none existence, you ahve to play MEta class or u cant really play anything. ''doing ur own key'' doesnt work anymore becouse ppl wont be signing up to your key.
WoW, for the past decade or so, has sucked at launch and then gotten emmensly better at the last season, TWW is not that at all, TWWlaunch feels great. my biggest complaint that delves, content not made for me, being boring and just mobs with too much hp and melee for too much beign the biggest complain, is a great complaint to have
TWW simply doesn’t know who they want to make the game for. They make baby steps that are super appreciated with alts and solo stuff. Still definitely need more to the delves than what they are because 603 ilvl is simply not enough and basically only waiting til chest each week. If they did an every 4-8 delves to get a 610 gear from that map. I feel like it would fix stuff. Differently weekly rares within delves that reward mounts or a “elite” world trans mog set for something to work towards idk. But yeah the main point. This game is wayyyyyyyyyyy to overcomplicated and though I can do the content. I would not call it fun. Hyper intensity for 30-40 minutes in dungeons is now to the point of a diamond tier moba game that such a bad feeling. Raiding is not doable consistently as a pug raid. It’s such a shame because wow has the best combat in mmos and best pvp in mmo, dungeons etc. but they just don’t know how to make it fun and it’s a shame. The fun will only come from playing with friends and that’s fair. It is a mmo but when your player base is in their 30s it’s very rare that they still play with the guilds they grew up and have all their memories. Sorry for the long comment but that’s my opinion
@@MarkoDinicDinke Yes, it’s makes sense to be optinal. If u dont want adventure mode u can stick to dungeon levelling or maybe pvp leveling or world bosses hunting , for a second option. But for new players leveling is importance for learning the class.
Hey, if you're playing The War Within and want to group up with a mediocre Enhancement Shaman, then add Earthscar as a friend. Can't wait to brick your keys!
I wish ff14 ripped some stuff off from wow more this would be the perfect mmo got done with wow thinking of started playing a new character in ff14 from level 1
Nope, not coming back. After 3 bad expansions they really needed to blow me away with TWW and what we got wasn't nearly good enough. Pick any 30 seconds of the Shadowbringers or Endwalker trailers and consider how bad-ass it makes you feel: That's what I needed to get from TWW and I'm not seeing it. Dawntrail was bad (Thank god for the JP voice cast) but Yoshi-P and CS3 have earned far more of my trust than Blizzard has so I'm sticking with XIV.
I completely agree that the emotional heights of Shadowbringers and Endwalker were greater than anything that Blizzard has offered, but it's hard to ignore the leaps in quality across the board that The War Within has brought to the game. Warbands, Delves, the storytelling - this is a strong showing.
Hey, dude. I wanted to turn this around more quickly, but the truth is that I can only play a bit every week. I have a wife, a full time job, an independent business, and other responsibilities. I'm also not comfortable putting minimal time into a game before talking about it. I would rather take my time to produce a solid video, rather than rush my way through something to get a video out. I will try to manage my time better in the future.

TWW got my daughter into WoW. I tried back in Shadowlands and after tutorial island and being thrown into boralus she just gave up but now with the new intro and Dragonflight being the intro shes loving it. Right now shes level 46 just doing objectives and pet battles but shes having her own fun.
Of all the games out there why do you bring your daughter to Azeroth? There is nothing good about this community, it just better than League community perhaps. real parenting advice man : get her out, introduce her to another game instead.
I mean, Wuk Lamat will undoubtedly be in 7.1, but she will ultimately be relegated to the same closet that Lyse was shoved into during Stormblood's post-expansion patches.
Another wonderful video! The cycle repeats itself no matter how good the expansion is. Every time I check the forums it's FLOODED with comments about how bad this expansion is. Hell even saw a thread titled "shadowlands was better that TWW". No matter how good an expansion is, and this is the best one since legion for me, there will always be people to say it sucks. Like you I have totally immersed myself into this expansion and I haven't had so much fun playing WoW in a long time and it feels like it's only going to get better!
Shadowlands revisionism was inevitable and I can’t wait for all of the video essays insisting that the expansion was underrated. They should come any moment now.

9 year FFXIV vet here. I tried getting into Dawntrail recently but subbed for about a month and gave up. Its just not grasping me like it used to. I've been playing WoW off and on since about 2012. Nothing nearly as serious as as much time invested in FFXIV though. I decided to jump back in attempt to cure that MMO itch. I'm currently playing through Dragonflight and I'm really enjoying it so far. Like you mentioned in the video, the biggest thing for me seems to be the constant interactions in the gameplay. Outside of the short cutscenes, there aren't too many times where control is taken from the player and they're forced to watch hours of exposition to progress through the story. The only issue I have with WoW is that its kind of a sesaonal thing. If you missed alot of the previous expansions, you do miss out on A LOT of lore if that's your thing.
As I write my next essay for this channel, “control” is a word that keeps coming up. I’m working on a critique of Creative Studio 3’s design philosophies for XIV and XVI and one of the recurring issues is control. The amount of time that the game insists on removing the player from the process suggests to me that Creative Studio 3 is almost embarrassed that its narratives are confined to the gaming medium.

Only just now found your video. but I'd like to throw in my two cents. -First, I found the entire soundtrack to be on the whole, some of the most forgettable this game has ever been. Perhaps it's because the zones themselves are so bland, but I struggle to recall any music from the expansion. -I personally found the fourth zone to be one of my favorite points in the expansion. It was both reminder of my own home town in Southern Colorado in geography and atmosphere, while also being what I wanted the entire expansion to be. Us annoying our friend with our adventurer nonsense. Its just a shame that nothing came of it. -While I'm on that line however, I would like to mention the world building, and how jarring it is that half the nation the Dawnservant is expected to rule, is entirely isolated from where the contest is happening. I would imagine that the people there should be just as involved in the contest, as their future supposedly hinges on whoever wins. I guess it's a really good thing that not a single person there has any issue with Wuk Lamat's claim to be their new leader and are whole heartedly on board with what she says to do. Otherwise something interesting might have happened. -Lastly, there's the thing about the use of souls. It never actually gets addressed by the MSQ. Every time its brought up, someone basically goes, "well, we cant judge their culture" and it gets passed by. Like fuck you cant judge it, they turned grandma into a 1up mushroom.
Slight mistake in your video: the "people" of Living Memory are not living, breathing, and thinking at all. They're nothing more than memories and are not even souls. That's why Living Memory is such an infuriating zone to me. Its very existence is an insult to Endwalker. You're right to say that Wuk Lamat is a shallow character whose growth is artificial and superficial though. She simply had no place in a royal contest and should have supported Koana instead.
I've never had as much fun in a videogame as much as I did playing a destroyer in Lost Ark, a class that's not even meta (as far as I recall), but what ultimately made me drop the game was how unforgiving raiding was. Not in the sense that mechanics themselves were hard, but the fact that if *one* person failed (or disconnected), the whole group was punished, if not cause an instant wipe. I've had more than my fair share of hostile environments to know when to back out.
You know what’s interesting about that? I raid in XIV more than any other MMO and that game also has punishing mechanisms that can lead to a wipe after one person’s mistake, yet it doesn’t sting as badly. I wonder why that is.
@@embersarcade I'm a casual roulette player so not sure how often that type of mechanic happens in ex/savage raids, but they pretty much don't exist in normal modes. The button smash phase in Seat of Sacrifice or Nald'thal's scales are the only mechanics I can think of where a single person can screw over an entire raid.
@@kou7191 It’s fairly common in Savage, but not in Extreme. I’m working through the final raid boss for the current tier and it is _extremely_ difficult, on par with some of Lost Ark’s raids. I’ve messed around in Ultimate, too, and those are brutal. It’s interesting, XIV’s high-end content has teeth, but it doesn’t have the reputation for being unforgiving.
Remember: According to Sena Bryer, if you dont like "SMILE", you must be a Racist. /s off, well analyzed, good feedback! Shame CS3 and SE wont see or listen to this...
Bryer blocked me for, I assume, the comment that I left on an FFXIV page’s post about Smile. I didn’t take it personally-quite frankly, Bryer’s opinion in that regard was the extreme one.
@@embersarcade And a childish one too. Taste is subjective. Always been, always will be. Sqare Enix might need to do some damage control soon if they dont leash that Person insulting their own Players.
Kind of disagree around the 70% mark about not being able to go out into the world and just *play* cuz that's how I've levelled all my jobs not maxed by the MSQ for the last 4 expansions. Pick up some hunt bills, turn the queue on, do some fates on the way. I can't spam dungeons over and over to level, my brain would melt. I like to run to zone lines and manually pass through, usually to hear the music of the zone for as long as possible. Make a pit stop and do some tribal quests. Try to teleport as little as possible. Otherwise, great video. I quit wow in shadowlands, and haven't regretted that decision, mostly for reasons you've already stated. (Disrespects it's own lore, every expansion tries to erase the previous ones and reset, etc.) I'm also not a competitive person whose interested in the gear treadmill, I mostly just played wow for the story. But I still try to keep up. Likewise, I don't do Extremes or Savage in XIV, just not my content, and it's likewise for WoW. There was a time in TBC where I did do heroics and raided, I even offtanked Naxx in Wrath. It was kind of fun, but tiring. Not really what I'm looking for anymore. I will agree WoW's combat does feel snappier, and I miss that feeling sometimes (like i sometimes miss ffxiv 1.0 lol), but on the opposite spectrum, especially with the release of Throne and Liberty, I find myself weary from all these MMOs going for ARPG combat. I yearn for a slower more methodical combat system, with much deeper gameplay systems beyond 'gear make number go up,' and have gotten into FFXI in recent years and am obsessed lol. Tho FFXIV is also my main home, i find its Jobs hollow shells in comparison to XIs iterations, and its combat equally as shallow. I've gotten into unreal engine 5 despite not being a programmer in an attempt to recreate the FFXI battle system lol. Though it's difficult, it's really opened my eyes and increased my appreciation of the staggering amount of work that go into games like wow and ffxiv. And thanks for all the work YOU put into this video.
