That was a fun adventure! Ha, rocky start, bummer about the rain, looked like a fun paddle, way to rock the rapid at the end!

Thanks!! I’m working on a new video. We finished the Groundhod River last month. Great rapids in that one!!

@@marieandree33 sounds great! We had fun on the Steel River Loop a few weeks ago, lots of fun CI's and a few CII's. Off to Bark lake next week. I'll have the check out Groundhog when it comes out.

@@21SwayzeeI just went and watched your vid!! It was great and funny. What camera do you use??

@@marieandree33 sweet, thanks!!! I use a Panasonic GH5 for most of it...and then in faster moving water, or underwater shots I used a Go Pro 7 Black. What camera do you use?

@@21Swayzeeright now it’s GoPro10 only which is great for all the fast moving water and underwater stuff but terrible at long distance anything. Lol.

They put that big sign at thunder house because on the American maps. The portage is show on right of the river. Every year canoeist would drown.
@marieandree33
@marieandree33 3 месяца назад
Ya, it’s pretty nuts! It’s also really far from the actual portage. But at least it gets you ready.
@jonathanberger2146
@jonathanberger2146 5 месяцев назад
consider going back into the trees and cutting a tent site- warmer back there out of the wind- maybe; more protection from rain and wind?
@marieandree33
@marieandree33 3 месяца назад
Unfortunately you can’t do that. Both sides of the river are a provincial park with designated camp sites. You gotta take what you can get. No chopping new sites.
@jonathanberger2146

never been in a kayak; can one carry it like a canoe rather than dragging- might go easier?
@marieandree33
@marieandree33 3 месяца назад
Oh gosh no. I store a lot of waterproof items, loosely. And I don’t have a big bag to put everything in. I’m also stubborn and only want to do one trip 😂. Even though I’m slower, I end up finishing first from those that do multiple portage trips.

Cool to see you guys rocking the upper portion of the river!!! Looked like a lot of fun rapids to play in! We are hoping to get on it next summer. This will help out with planning. Finally got our upper vid up. Water was warm when we swam in August. Looked like a lot of great fishing action at the falls! Keep rocking it!
@marieandree33
@marieandree33 11 месяцев назад
We’ve done the upper twice now. Definitely our favourite. Check the other vid too from 2021 because we stayed at some different campsites. You’ll have a lot of options. Are you guys using Hap Wilson’s book or just the map or both? Some sites are listed on the map but not in the book and vice versa. We also found a couple sites that are not listed in either places. I’m going to check your vid now! Can’t wait.

Hey good to know its your favourite, I've heard that from others too! Going to give the prior one a go too! We use the map, I'm a visual learner, so I watch vids on any canoe route we do...looking for cool campsites (like you mentioned), or portage exits..etc..any unique landmarks. Hope you have a rocking weekend!@@marieandree33

It was great, its been on my list for years! Kids loved it too! Water was a little low at times, but we wanted less bugs, and new that be the case...made it easier for the kids too. Lots of fish, moose, bear and good times.@@marieandree33
