Baxter makes some of the best mild customs ever! I'm in Baja right now, but Baxter Days sounds tempting..... I wonder how many miles that would be from here to Marne..... 🤔
@@thefuzzybiker171 do you think Baxter Cycle might be able to put together a kit of some kind? Nobody has done that so far. That I found anyway. Maybe it would be worthwhile to do so. I look forward to seeing the SM with mid controls video. Thanks.
This is probably the first video on the where you’ve added a custom exhaust and upgraded the suspension. I’m waiting for someone to add a custom seat; a proper long single piece seat that can have two people sit.
That is a hard question to answer. It would depend on how I was planning to use the bike, I guess. If only one bike...Shotgun. But...there seems to be no good reason to own only one motorcycle...Wahoo!
Ride with a CamelBak or other hydration bladder. I use mine while touring or long day trips so you can drink while moving I wear mine while buddy just puts his reservoir in his tank bag or panniers that lie across his gas tank.
The Thunderbolt was the "econo" version of the Lightning; one carb, no tach, but I have no idea if engine internals differed. I recall that the Norton Commando's transmission shift pattern was one up, three down, which was the opposite of most motorcycles. If I'd had five grand I would've bought the Thunderbolt sold in my area a couple of years ago, but of course if wishes were horses beggars would ride.
I have a 500 classic a brilliant machine, retro looks ,modern electrics , My commuting machine and tourer at the weekends. Perfect for the Scottish lowlands.
@thefuzzybiker171 I know mate. By the way, I'm wearing a Baxter's Tshirt. Only one on England I reckon? 😄 I got heated grips fitted to my back last autumn. Bloody God send. I've done a couple of decent length trips on my classic. Loaded up. Worked like a champ! Beautiful bike. 😄
The Commando 750 Combat was perhaps the Fastest real Norton. OK there was a shortstroke 750 versiion of the 850, but that was a pure racebike. The Combat engined commandos failed on the market because the power smashed the mainbeairings as the crank flexed. Dead motor in less than 5000 Milers. OK that was solved. At the time we fitted FAG roller bearings from Germany. These were very expensive, slightly eliptical to absorb the Crank flex. Later there were several brands but all labelled "Superblend" they work. In my current 750 I can't remember iwhat brand of bearings I'm using. However. The Combat motor had several differences. The head was skimmed to give a 10 to 1 compression ratio and Stamped with a C. I have that. Then you fit the 2S cam (not the normal SS cam). You may have to relieve the barrels around the cam followers. You must time the cam. At minimum new timing chain, then if neccesary Vernier adjuster. (see Norvil).
Now that you have seen both the Black Gold and the Maroon, which one looks better in person? I'm in a place where I'll have to order one sight unseen. Love your videos!
You can't keep the nuts tight unless you double nut or use aircraft nuts on the bolts. Believe me, I know. Not to comfortable on long rides either. Vespa is much better on a long trip. And now, you know the rest of the story.
G’day Mr. Fuzzy Biker. I am over the moon to be able to announce I have just purchased my beloved RE Tribute 500 back😁👍. In a time of weakness I sold her earlier this year, recently I found her in a dealership not too far from me, with only about 9 kms more on the odometer than when I sold her!! I am fortunate enough to own both the RE 120 anniversary model interceptor & 120 anniversary Continental G.T. Now getting my Tribute back completes the collection. There is something very unique & special about these bikes. Ride safe mate🏍👍😎….. P.S… it’s only money $$$, buying her again has cost lots of $$, however I believe there is more to life than $$ in the bank🤷🏻♂️🫣😂😂.
Good on ya mate! Aren't they just fantastic motorcycles! I've got two Classic 500s, an iron barrel Bullet and a Super Meteor and I love them all. So good you got your bike back, nice one 😎
Friend & I talked about that. Possible answer: Bike was used for R&D and they know the magic to get pass locks. I really don't know where this bike came from...or where it's going.
Love my Classic but this Meteor is, hands down, a better long ride bike. Did over a thousand miles on this one in two days and loved it. I'm keeping my Classic but do have the Super Meteor. Wahoo!
looking forward to your trip, be safe! Also that is a gorgeous bike. I'm considering the classic 350 but that one might be better as I plan on exploring most of Canada on it.
I do love my Classic 350 but if going to do a lot of long rides I'd think about this Meteor 350. Far more comfortable. Just did 1000 miles on this blue one in two days. Loved it. Wahoo!
@@thefuzzybiker171 Did you not get leg cramps with the feet position? I know the seat looks really comfy, I'm just worried as a six footer that my knees will cramp.
