I honestly love this format for you. You’re a hell of a rambler, Cam. I thought it was funny that this video is about how camera gear isn’t exciting but you’re definitely still excited about it. No hate just a funny observation on my end. I recently kicked my GAS. I think trying to increase my clientele and realizing I have basically all the gear I need to make whatever photo is in my head helped me do so. Do I still look at new cameras? Definitely. But I do it with reason now. I know the next camera will be a video centric one as I’m directing on multiple projects with DP’s but would like to have the option to scale down for smaller clients where I can just film everything myself. There’s a journey that brings maturity into the camera purchases and reason to that. Great video! Keep em coming.
I've currently got the A7RV and the Nikon Z8 - I'm looking for some vintage glass to add a little more character, what do you recommend? Sounds like the Voigtlanders could be the way to go
Yeah man. I’m totally bored with watching camera review videos and lens reviews because I feel like they’re maxed out. How much better can they be? Or get? They’re totally awesome, every one of them. But people don’t think about what they want to actually do with them as much as how much dynamic range they have. :-) at some point, they’re all good enough. It’s fun to collect things, but I’m more inspired by stories, but that’s just me. No shade to anybody who’s just way into the tech, that’s cool too, it’s just not my thing. And I am totally a tech nerd. I was actually a beta tester for plenty of pro audio equipment. But at the end of the day, make me cry, make me think, make me laugh. I’m into the technology for about two hours, then I have to create something magical . Yeah, I’m bored. Lol.
I haven't shot Leica and likely won't for many years, but I just picked up a Blackmagic CC6k with that crazy sale and holy shit. The simplicity mixed with the image quality is what I imagine shooting Leica is like. Also love that I can use the S5iix with the CC6K seamlessly and share the L mount lenses. Great video Cam. Great to see you posting more again!
Great perspective here. Any of the options these days gets the job done. I wish the ZF had a little more video horsepower. Maybe they'll make one with the Z63 sensor eventually.
My english is not good as much please tell me which one should i buy? Nikon zf vs fuji xt5 vs fuji x100vi? Which one gives more detailed and sharp photos?
I love you cam but wtf… you just got a Leica 😂. But I get what you’re saying. I kinda like taking “crappier gear” and making it look good. Love from a day 1 follower when you was just a photo guy
Hey Leica is OLD haha. Leica isn’t about the money to me. It could be cheap AF and I would still get it. They’re jsut classic simple cameras. Which is exactly what I’m looking for in a world of bells and whistles. Kinda funny tho.. the simpler things are, the more expensive they get 😂
I associate to so much in this video. The zf just feels amazing. theres something about it. I shot all the time with an a7rv and a leica q3, and the leica is just incredible. Not that the sony is not. The sony is a masterpiece, that take a ton of brain power sometimes, but when you get it right, wow does it shine. BUt that leica, is just magic
Your videos are so good man. Talking about gear, I was hoping you could help me out with a lens decision. If it were your choice, would you get the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II Art or the Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III? Thanks a lot!
Depends what you’re doing man. I absolutely loved the 35-150mm and wish I used it more.. but the 24-70 is a staple for a reason. Just being able to go that wide and still get super solid portraits at 70mm.. but if you don’t know 24mm.. 100% go for the 35-150
I've been shooting for 15yrs and don't even upgrade my gear anymore unless it breaks. I do still photography and video so looking at going Sony. I get hired to shoot a lot of content and have had people request Sony Cameras. The Nikons are the best hybrids no doubt but Sony has the best Eco System. I'll probably get some A7IV's and an FX3 to start with intentions to ad an FX6 later. It all depends on what you shoot.
Yeah Sony kinda runs the game right now for freelance video work. If I was just starting.. I’d either wait to see what Sony might come out with (I have zero clue personally) or go with the Z8 and the FX3 and get that Megadap adapter so you can put your e mount lenses on tge Z8
Love the GFx system. I had a rant about them but took it out of this video cause it got boring haha. But I love the 50s over their newer ones and I kinda hope they release that sensor in a bit she body with updated processor
Do you have any issues with moire with your S5ii? I am trying to decide between that and the Fx3 form outdoor fitness videos. What would you recommend? BTW I like this format - super insightful!
Definitely seems to be a bad batch of m11s out there . Heard it a lot when I was deciding on one so bought it second hand figuring the previous owner would have put its through its paces . Year now and nothing no freezes or glitches .
I don't usually comment on vids but this one was super useful man felt like I needed to pay you for it! (I might end up doing it after I make some coin off my new R5C) Thanks!!
If financial ability is doing well for you, is it ok for me to craft something for you like a logo or illustration to help me get a hard drive as soon as possible? I know for some it may sound like it's not much but I really need one to help me get back on track in life and I can't afford one right now even it seem little money to get one, please if you get to read this comment, let me know if it's ok to give me an opportunity, maybe someday I can get myself a camera too, a Zf with a 28-400mm f4-8 :-)
Now that I have a Z6III, Lumix S5II and open gate have taken a back seat to a much faster sensor and the low light flexibility of ISO6400. I also got rid of my BMCC camera. Nikon has refining to do with firmware (shutter angle and anamorphic support at the top of the list) but for the size, features, and price there’s very little to complain about.
as a long time viewer, I’m glad it only took a couple years for you to finally land on Lumix and realize how enjoyable they are to shoot! I really miss false color on the S5IIX when shooting without a monitor (waveform is fine), but otherwise it’s kind of the perfect camera for run and gun and social shooting situations since it’s low profile . esp because the open gate image is really flexible . and the image from the BRAW with highlight recovery enabled in Resolve is beautiful .
@@sdhute thanks. It’s a work in progress, but the tools are really easy to learn now. It’s not like the old days where you had to be a cad nerd to make anything!
yesssirrrrr, every time I use a KX.. it ends up being a rental with the operator or someone else brings theirs. Thats starting to happen more and more with the more high end cameras
