It went together easily in less than an hour. ru-vid.comUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
I'd take it to a bike shop if you can't figure it out after watching some YT videos, they can align it for you and explain how to do it as well so you can do it next time
How were you able to use the locking seat post but still have the quick release to adjust the height? I thought it was one or the other. That passenger seat idea is brilliant by the way! I have the Bern helmets too!
Thanks - yep, it's not a quick release for height, you have to have a hex tool to adjust it - I carry a multi tool on the bike at all times in case it's needed.
I know all about that. I did the trailer thing too and now both are too big for it. Living in a hilly area too and that can be more challenging than I'd want. It may cost a bit, but I'm guessing you can add gears to it assuming the frame is the same as the current Rad Runner 2. The RadWagon was a bit scary for me to ride with the kids. Just a bit long and heavy for me in the areas I ride. Also be careful, if there's even a slight slope to the side the center stand isn't secure. My kids almost fell. Luckily I was close by next to them when the whole bike was tilting over.
Thanks for making this video Ben! I continuously come back to it as I slowly upgrade my RadRunner. I have bought the front rack, a hafny mirror, & the Amazon basket + net. I bought the center container & you are right. It’s bulky and can be annoying, especially when I take my bike upstairs 😭But I like that I can put my phone down for the map & no one can see what I have in it.
That's so cool, glad it's been a good resource for you - I love making small upgrades and changing things around to customize it - Taking that bike upstairs is no fun
Theres a shot of my bike with the seat tilted up and bike seat attached about 1.5 minutes into the video, so if that's what your talking about then yes
Is the Thule Yepp Maxi Child seat Radpower sells different from what you listed here? I have a 2 year old boy and he's on the bigger percentile. He's 34 pounds and 3.1 feet. Wondering how much time I can get out of it before he outgrew it?
It's the same one that Rad has, I'm not sure the max weight, but my daughter prefers riding on the passenger seat since she was about 5-6 over the Yepp. I wouldn't be comfortable with her doing it before then though
Thank you so much for this video! I build a similar hinged platform for my passenger seat (based off this video) about a year ago so that I could swap between it and my daughter's Yepp child seat quickly. She has since graduated to the passenger seat, so I need to get rid of the hinged plank system that I built. Contact me if you're interested! Free to a loving RadRunner owner.
I've got the regular red runner I hate it and I threw away the battery...... The throttle makes your wrist hurt and you can't even sleep at night.... Next let's talk about the accident rate about a 5,000% more likely for a serious injury compared to a bicycle
Super informative video! Question, where did you get the plexiglass safety fenders on the rear of your bike? I don’t want our little guy getting anything caught while riding.
@@BenLandersMedia I got that figured out now (I contacted Rad) that they are included with the passenger package. I was confused thinking it was a standard feature on the bike. All good! Thanks for your reply and great video!
Yep and no less weight just makes it easier to manuever - I've now also ridden with 3 kiddos back there and it's fine, but if they start moving around it can get a little hard to control
Bummer, I'm not sure about a good replacement since I haven't tested any alternatives myself, but if you google around you can probably find something similar
I keep going back to this video. Going to use your seat idea to move the passenger seat back and I liked all your suggestions. Thanks so much for this really useful video.
Could not stomach the music. End of video viewing. Good content, but that music and its volume will tend to "sort" the audience and lose some (much?) of it. Cheers.
Do you have any suggestions for a radrunner plus set-up for putting a kid on the back that is 5 years old (too big for Yepp seat) that is similar to the caboose for the radwagon (I would like to get the radrunner over the radwagon if I can). Thanks!
Closest thing I've got is this amzn.to/3huk4Jm , but at that point you might as well just put the handle on and rock the passenger seat that comes with it. I have put my 6 year old daughter on the actual bike seat and ridden on the passenger seat with her in front of me (if you're short that won't work) There is probably something out there but I haven't seen it
It just depends on where you live and where you want to go - for us it can't replace our car because I work outside the city and we don't have good trails/routes to get everywhere we need to. If I was a single guy living in the city it would without a doubt
@@BenLandersMedia I definitely understand that. That's unfortunate, if any opportunities come up to support and build bike lanes, paths and trails make approve that, cause it sounds like yall could use some.
I have an almost 6 year old and am considering a Rad, either the wagon or the runner plus. We need to ride up a pretty steep 1 mile hill though that has some traffic on it to get to school. My daughter is a bit timid so I want to have something secure for her on the back but I don’t know if I want the weight of the wagon for the hill as that seems to have more secure accessories for kids. Thoughts or suggestions?
If it's just one kid I would go with the Runner Plus, I love taking only one kid on my runner - it's way easier to navigate / more nimble than the wagon, but if you have another one you'll need the wagon :-)
Thanks for this video! My kid just hit the 50 lb mark the kids seat max is 40 lbs. do you feel a 7 year old can ride just on the cushion or should I get something else?
I think it really just depends where your riding and how busy the traffic is in the area. I have ridden with my 6 year old on the cushion around the neighborhood and on greenway trails, but wouldn't take her on big roads with heavy traffic She also like riding on the seat and then I sit on the pad with my arms around her - I probably wouldn't do this on heavy trafficed roads either though
Appreciate your sharing your thoughts, am waiting on the delivery of my rad cargo any day now, found your video very informative 👍thanks for taking the time to share 😊
Good Bye RAD!!!!! Sadly I ended my relationship with RAD today. Even though my Buddy Tony who I had mentioned below had some issues with the hill climb, I decided to purchase the Rad Runner Plus anyway. The bike was supposed to ship out on 7-15-21. After not hearing from RAD and assuming the bike would ship out on time, I decided to check on the 15th to see where fulfillment was. Unfortunately I was told that the bike was delayed and was not scheduled to ship out until July 23rd. I have to travel to bring my daughter back to school in two weeks so timing is key here and I explained this to them. One week is NOT that bad so I said fine as according to RAD's shipping map, there should still be enough time to make it all work out. Unfortunately today July 20th with only three days to go to the revised shipping date, I decided to be proactive and once again checked with RAD customer service regarding the shipping status of my bike. Again I was told that the bike once again was being delayed and should probably ship out by the end of July but no promises could be made. RAD just keeps pushing back the delivery date and now it looks like the middle to end of August according to their website. I decided to just sever ties and cancel the order. RAD gets an F- for fulfillment. Up until this point I felt positive about the company but now I have a sour taste in my mouth from the overall experience and will not be buying from them again. They lost a customer and honestly seemed relieved that I cancelled, NOT what a company should be doing but they obviously are successful enough to just not care. If you buy from them be prepared to be disappointed. If you live on the West coast, you can ride all year long. Those of us on the East coast however have a much shorter weather window and it just does NOT make sense to make the investment, think you have most of the summer to enjoy your purchase only to learn that time has quickly run out. I'm pretty annoyed and hope this information in some small way helps other people from making the same mistake.
😂 more like 300, but yea definitely want to budget for some upgrades (or don't if you don't care about any of them.) I felt part of the fun was customizing your ride with all the upgrades you want - I honestly felt I was being pretty conservative compared to a lot of the souped up bikes I've seen in the facebook group
Cool accessories. Pepper spray is a good one that most people probably never considered. I also have a smoke bomb attached to my bike. Similar to a dye pack concept at a bank - in case someone wants to rob me for my bike, they can ride around in a cloud of red smoke if they can see anything. 😂
I'm not sure, the reason I got this one was so my wife and I could ride together, but if you're over the 300 limit you could try the rad wagon for a 350 limit
Good review! Any ideas on safe seats for kids over 6? Mine is 7 and I don't want her to just sit on the regular passenger seat but the Yepp is for younger kids. Any ideas gratefully received.
@@BenLandersMedia thanks! I think I’m a touch over cautious! I worry the lack of suspension and no seatbelt/containment is unsafe. Indeed it’s probably fine and using the Yepp for another year is a good solution.
