Beau spent his childhood looking for golf balls, secretly hoping to find a body part in the swamps and marshes. He still looks in odd places for much the same thing (and feeling). Being redhead means that sunscreen, big hats and old business shirts cloak him during outdoor life. He likes baths more than showers, homemade wine and licorice. By god he likes licorice.
Beans and maple syrup? Good lord that sounds bloody good!!!! My favourite beans were beans in curry sauce, but we can’t get them in Australia anymore. I think they’re popular in the UK though. I’m a beans snob, I’ll only eat Heinz, and the new favourite I suppose is ham sauce, but if they ever bring back curry sauce I’ll be stocking up. But damn I’d love to try maple beans now lol. I don’t suppose this was the point of your film, but I definitely have a similar fondness of beans as you do, but I’m not eating my own weight in beans. Or running a bloody marathon.
Mate I was on a round about today in Maitland and there was a damn copper hammer laying in the middle of the road! I said to my co worker I really want to go back around and pick that up, but, alas I was at work and I had to remain professional, and realised that work would be very unpleased with me doing a u turn and stopping the whole round about to pick up a hammer. Bastards.
Beau! I feel for you brother! My life has been upside down for coming up to a year with a disc bulge which has stopped me training and working properly, it’s impossible to know if too much is too much or not enough, you get better for a while then it comes back… just have to count your blessings I suppose, and trust it ain’t forever!
I found a great big piece of wood on the main road. It’s got to be 3” thick and 18x12” if not bigger. I took it home and ran a plane and sanded over it and the grain is beautiful. I’m going to soak it in acrylic and make sure it’s all structural, and I’m going to build a beautiful guitar body from it.
Hey Beau, this video holds a special place in my brain, partially because it features my home town Christchurch but also because of the wider message. As a young fella about to graduate from Uni, I can’t help but face the conflict between doing the sensible thing and entering the work force versus going on a life defining adventure. Thanks to you I’ve realised this adventure can just be in my backyard (and what a backyard NZ is) but the reality of life and its responsibilities is still present. So, my question to you (if you ever see this) is - how did you know you were ready to go on your adventure(s) and any guidance for someone in my shoes? Cheers!
Man the more I see you kayaking the more I want to go and buy one, throw it into my Ute and go into a river and go fishing. I have to keep stopping myself daydreaming about me, no one else, and a fishing rod, and camping in my Ute cooking fish I had to buy from Woolworths because obviously I won’t catch anything. But it’s the trying that’s important. I doubt that’s what you’re trying to instil in people, but god I want to go kayaking and fishing.
I don’t live in Sydney but I frequently work out of where you ended up. It really makes me feel bad. Probably one of the most historic rivers in Sydney and it’s trashed. Thanks for your efforts mate.
No need to run the experiment, but the likelihood of finding the autistic man out there that chooses beans for his primary food is frustrating, so this man had to do it.
This essentially why I think people retroactively say prison isn't "that bad" compared to where a lot of the people with medical needs end up at the end of the road (homeless or dead).
Mate I have to say that your content is bloody incredible. The funny thing is, it’s not of a category that I would normally watch. I like cars, noise, speed, loud music, burnouts, trucks, but every single one of your videos I have watched, I genuinely, incredibly enjoy. I love fishing, and I have a small boat and a camper van, and I really, dearly would love to take 3 days for myself and go and just fish, camp, drink some beer, listen to my music, and just genuinely reset, but I honestly feel bad for wanting to do that and not include my family in it. But I need to do it.
Thanks for all your videos Beau. I ran my first marathon today and I don't think I would have done that without the inspiration and sense of adventure these videos provide.
What a beautiful video. I'm saving it for a rewatch. I'm an ultra runner married to a non runner. It's all about balance, which can be tough with such an extreme sport and hectic lives. For my husband and I, it's not hour for hour, 50/50, but I do make sure he gets HIS time. And, like many spouses so used to giving giving giving, he often says he's fine and doesn't need it. FYI guys, they're lying, to themselves and you. Make sure your partner gets the same sense of freedom, independence, or peaceful time every week that your running gives you, or the frustration and resentment WILL grow over time. If you can't manage it weekly, then give them a night away at a location of their choosing once a training block/race is over. Sometimes this crazy life, and this crazy hobby of ours, demands creativity. 😂
Hey Beau! Thank you for having the heart of a teacher, using your story to teach others about your own failures and neglects, which many of us do have, too, if we dare to admit. It has been a few months since the release of this video, and I hope and pray that you are recovering very well there, mate! Please take good care of yourself. Cheers.
