Can you over use worm castings? My plants always perk up when I add the worm castings. I’ve been trying to add some as top dressing, then mix in with existing soil appropriately every 30 days or so for about 3 months now. I haven’t seen any bad results by doing this so far but is it possible to over do it?
Very interesting. I'm an indoor plant newby and have seen numerous plant YTers mention earthworm castings for use as top dressing, mixing in soil, or making tea. I've purchased some and am now trying to decide which method to use. At this point, I'm leaning towards tea.
I've had the best success with a simple 50/50 mix of peat moss and pumice or perlite. I will slightly adjust the ratio depending on the plants preference for moisture levels. It's a cheap mix and provides an ideal air filled porosity of ~20%. Plus because it's inert it doesn't attract many soil borne pests or fungus. The nutrition for the plants comes from the fertilizers, while the potting mix can be thought of as the home for the plant, so there is no need to go too fancy with amendments or composts in the mix!
I have purchased both and the Miracle one breaks down into dust. I don't purchase it anymore. Better gro is much better but I wish the pieces were smaller. The bark is big.
Hi Casey...Thank you for your helpful videos!I just started my first indoor grow ...All your info is answering important questions I've had...you rock,BTW..,youre so hot and sexy!..Marry me please? What's the tattoo on your arm say?....Hopelessly in love with you....Steve
I'm in no way saying miracle grow is better but fungus gnats can come in any soil good or bad and they can even come in on produce or in dog food. To say it's because of miracle grow is upsurd
I’m growing some cannabis in the black gold right now and it’s getting fungi so that generally means it’s a great organic soil! The plants look good too. I just bought a bag of ocean forest tho so Ty for this video ❤🎉
Your plant is much whiter than ones I have had but still beautiful. I just purchased one. The last one I had I killed it. Moving from humid East coast to dry west coast is a learning curve for me. I have all the tools so I hope to keep this one a while.
Ok this video is 3 years ago, but If a plant's roots are rotted, I didn't think you could just re-pot without treating the rot first with an anti fungal spray OR just cutting the rotted roots off and propagating the stems. VERY curious if this plant made it or not!???
Thanks for this video. Yours was one of the best ones that I have watched regarding the car of this plant. What makes it great, is that you’ve had your plant for more than 6 months. Also, one tip with repotting, instead of buying screen for the bottom of the pot, try coffee filters. You can fold in half, slice holes to help drainage quicker.
Thanks for posting this! I was searching for more of a "hack" video that would kind of magically get my HUGE neon pothos into my hanger and came across your video. Turns out, there's no magic way (hey, it was wishful thinking lol) but just the fact that you put the drip tray in first (duh!!😂) to hold it open was a game changer over here ha ha So simple, but I hadn't done that and it was definitely easier once I did 😁😁😁 Great little tutorial, and such a pretty plant!
Just subscribed! Found you from the cissus discolor video,I just got one from finally visiting Pepper’s Greenhouse in DE. I am glad to know you are in east coast, I think it helps to see what it might take for me to be more successful with my plants.
How is it doing now? I was shocked to see you repot it back into the contaminated soil that it had the rotted roots in!!! Did it end up continuing to rot or did it get better?
