Loved the Casey Test! Based on your findings I think I vote Black Gold mainly because it doesn’t stay so wet for so long which I think is beneficial for most plants. Feel free to geek out and get experimental again- this was fun!

This was so interesting! It makes me want to try growing a cutting of equal size and kind - say a pothos, since they are generally easy to grow - and then compare results. That's the nerdy part of me coming out. 🙃 I don't care for Miracle Gro at all but I have bought it when I couldn't find anything else and needed it right away. Then, I add perlite, worm castings, etc. Thanks for all your research! This has to be one of my favorite RU-vid videos ❣️

Also on the miracle gro..I've been stuck before too and have had to resort to it. The npk of miracle gro looks good on paper, and if you're adding other amendments you're only going to help your soil. Have a great day! 🌱🌱

I’m growing some cannabis in the black gold right now and it’s getting fungi so that generally means it’s a great organic soil! The plants look good too. I just bought a bag of ocean forest tho so Ty for this video ❤🎉

I've been using Ocean Forest for years and I cant say that I'll ever stray, lol. It's the best soil in my opinion! All of my plants are huge and lush like I feed them some kind of special fertilizer! And I love the smell of it. It's like opening a bag of Earth. It smells heavenly!😊

I've used the Fox Farms and the miracle gro indoor mix. The miracle gro was terrible, and the fox farms was really good. I haven't had an opportunity to try out the Black Gold yet.

The P is phosphorus, the K is potassium. In nursing we use the chemical symbol K as potassium.

such a great video i orders miracle grow ..without watching videos and reviews i seen the 5 star in amazon and thought it was great but i should’ve known they rigged it i looked more into it and omg they were terrible! i’m switching to Black Gold

I had a bag of Black Gold and gnats came right out of a brand new bag, so I did research, and I tried this and I now do this for every bag of soil...I use a glass baking container, cover glass with aluminum foil, cut a hole the size of a quarter on the aluminum foil and bake the soil in the oven at 154 degrees for 1 hour. Baking the soil does not dry the soil out what it does is kill any bacteria 🦠 or larva eggs that might be in the soil that cause gnats or any other bugs that might be in the soil.

Very interested I'm using Miracle-Gro moisture control potting mix, and I've been noticing I'm getting insects running around after a while 😌 can you probably give me a hint to get rid of the insect in the soil, now I feel like reporting all my plants with Fox farm didn't know there was a video so very interested I'll be watching your channel 👌

cinnamon (they hate it) and you can get little stickys that you stick into the soil and stick out (its basically fly paper). All my plants have gotten gnats at some point unfortunately, but these help!

I've had the best success with a simple 50/50 mix of peat moss and pumice or perlite. I will slightly adjust the ratio depending on the plants preference for moisture levels. It's a cheap mix and provides an ideal air filled porosity of ~20%. Plus because it's inert it doesn't attract many soil borne pests or fungus. The nutrition for the plants comes from the fertilizers, while the potting mix can be thought of as the home for the plant, so there is no need to go too fancy with amendments or composts in the mix!

black gold was the soil that weed growers used back in the day its good just stay away from miracle grow lol . and fox farm ocean forest is the best but aint cheap sells at all

I bought ALL of my plants from people off of Craigslist. I'm so confident in my ability to bring them back to life, that I will buy a plant that looks like there's no hope for them to thrive. I re-pot with Black Gold.......will never use anything else!

I am not too sure about Miracle grow. I have had many bags having fungus upon opening the bag. I am in search of indoor potting mix that will reduce fungus growth. I would appreciate if someone who has good experience with indoor potting mix would let me know.

I have a similar problem with MG, I get green algae on top and😂 I used the cactus mix! . Unfortunately I just repotted everything (schlumberge ra) in it😮 One plant is small so I can improve soil for it. I'm not using miracle gro anymore.

I use none of these. But I do want to try Fox Farm soil. I just found a local garden by me that sells it. So once I use up my soil, I’ll do the switch. I might just give to my sister instead. Lol. fox farm IS organic and has slow release nutes just organic ones(over three months of food). That is what the oyster shells, aged forest, fish meal ... are. Fox farm is very strong and could be too strong and burn some house plants because of how "hot" it is... some of the most fortified soil on the market. fist choice for weed growers due to that. You can see this as the NPK has the highest N and P do you think they are immediately released? weird choice of comparison... black gold is not fortified at all and just has perlite and pumas for air and drainage. A much better fox farm comparison is the happy frog line. Also fungas gnats are often due to storage of soil where you got it. Is it is a huge stack outside where it will be rained on... is it inside a building on a raised pallet.......

I don't believe Fox Farm is actually certified organic. I've done some research and it seems they used to say organic on the bag, but no longer do. I can't find conclusive evidence either way. I've read other info that said "organically based".
