Live performances and electronic previews between 1984 and the present by David W Solomons, as composer, arranger, guitarist, alto soloist and one-man choir. Some videos are live performances, including live performances of my music by various professional musicians, others are sound recordings with video slideshows incorporating the words and, where necessary, translations into English. Composers range from the 12th to the 21st Century. Languages for the sung performances include English, French, German, Latin, Yiddish, Italian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Russian, Portuguese and Zulu.
Aucassin, when he heard of his sweet-bodied love, was stirred at heart; so he left the shepherds & rode his fighting horse into the deep forest & was lost to sight; & he spoke these three words : “Nicolete of the gracious heart, for you I came into the woods; I don’t follow tracks of deer but your heaven-blue eyes & gentle body, your fair laugh, your sweet breath. Not to be heartbroken to death may it please God I shall see you again, my sweet love!”
Nice. You ask the guitarist (might that be you?) to play some pretty complex stuff, with plenty of notes that might imply that the recipe could have some sour elements. Very cool.
Thanks Csongor. Good to see you as clarinetist so many years on :-) I have lots of compositions for clarinet solo (and with accompaniment) - do let me know if you would be interested.
Many thanks - glad you enjoy it. There are more movements for tuba quartet in this playlist ru-vid.com/group/PLLsXTyKAJ8SLQ9QSy4W8fZ8wlb1IhLxxj and also an Octatonic string quartet which includes a movement in a polymodal mix of Octatonic and Dorian (Bones and Birds) ru-vid.com/group/PLBAF1B83903FA6E98
@@DavidSolomons I wish we had huge woods left where knights could get lost. If you want them back, just follow the sound of metal banging against the trees. 🤣
What if I never speed? Shall I straight yield to despair, And still on sorrow feed That can no loss repair? Or shall I change my love? For I find pow'r to depart, And in my reason prove I can command my heart. But if she will pity my desire and my love requite, Then ever shall she live my dear delight. Come, come, come, while I have a heart to desire thee, Come, come, come, for either I will love or admire thee.
It has something courtly about it. I see ladies and gentlemen dancing menuet in renaissance costumes, white wigs and half-polite smiles. Very enchanting!
Thanks for listening. BTW it's now part of my big project called A little ABC of the Renaissance - you might like to have a look dwsolo.com/abc/ (all the pieces have accompaniments with piano, with guitar and with harp)
