This is so funny. Vancouver is so small that I did a photo walk the other week and this is exactly the same areas I went through. Like even that productive alley i did a lot of shots in. Looks great but like... shooting street in Van is kinda easy to exhaust downtown. I think I need to try Main street next.

Thanks for the kind words, Walt! The lens is rectilinear so it has very little distortion. I was amazed as well haha. For the money it produces amazing results.

@@MichaelSchaefer-ir6gm hey Michael, I shoot these photos in the Monochrome picture profile on the Z50. Shoot in manual settings so each photo is a little different. You could probably shoot in Auto if you’re just getting started.

@@MichaelSchaefer-ir6gm I would set the focus to A-C if you’re capturing moving subjects. Come to think of it I’m not sure I’ve ever not used Continuous Autofocus
Hey, Roland, another great video! Always interesting, esp this one using monochrome mode. I primarily use my Z50 in mono and find that I do a lot less post-processing. Great little camera! A question about your 50-250mm in this vid: did you find yourself concentrating your focal length in any particular area, like in the shorter lengths, or freely use the whole range? Thanks!
@@Walt.2013 hey, thanks so much! Cool to hear you’re using the monochrome profile as well. I tend to shoot more towards the longer focal lengths like 200-250 a lot. Love the reach I can get with that lens. I’ll also shoot some at 50mm if I’m closer to my subject (like when we were petting that dog).
Thanks again! It was just what I needed to photograph those scenes. When I got home I noticed it’s a macro lens, so I’ll definitely have to try that out one day soon.
You got some very decent images on what sounds like unusual conditions for you, namely night shooting in the rain. Thought you did quite well and am inspired to try it myself! I have a Z50 and now that it's been a year, wonder if you had any moisture problems as a result of getting it wet (really wet!). Thanks!
Hey Walt, thanks for your message! I definitely don’t do a lot of night shooting (although I’ve done a bit more since this video). I’m happy to say that my Z50 has been very solid in the rainy conditions I’ve put it through. One thing I always do is use a weather sealed lens in the rain. Don’t want any water getting in there! Oh and I make sure to take the battery out and let everything dry out really well when I get home. Best of luck with your ventures!

Hey, thanks for the kind words. I use the electronic stabilization when I’m just holding the camera still. It helps take out some of the micro jitters. On shots where I move the camera I try and stabilize them in my editing software. Best thing you can do is just be as smooth as possible when capturing video.
Ahh, that's _super_ cool! Binging tons of videos on the Nikon Z50 since I picked it up a few months ago and I'm absolutely in love with it (the first camera I've ever had, and it's *SO* freaking comfy to hold). I'm also from Vancouver, so definitely going to try to recreate some of these shots in the future! 😍

@@RolandKaufmann Vancouver really seems to lend itself well to landscape photography, so I've mostly been doing that. Shooting with both of the kit lenses plus the F/2 40mm. Just got into managing a tech department at London Drugs and really needed to know my cameras. Nikon Z50 has been an excellent starting point and allowed me to learn very easily.
Hi, I notice that sometimes you use relatively high ISO like 2500 and 4000, and keep the shutter speed below 1/200. What if using lower ISO and lower shutter speed like 1/100? And how did you keep your photo clean with high ISO, did you use lightroom AI denoise? BTW It's a great vid and I really enjoy watching it!
Hey, thanks for the question. I think I was trying to bring in more light while also keeping things relatively sharp. The Z50 can handle ISO around 3-4000. Where it starts to fall apart is up in the 8-10,000 in my experience. Never tried AI de noise on any of my photos.
I have the Olympus OM-1 & Olympus 40-150mm pro lens it's fantastic but can get heavy and cumbersome I've been eyeing the Nikon Z50 for a while now it looks very compact and seems to have great image quality.
Oh very cool! Yeah I can see that being a bit more taxing on longer shoots. The Z50 is definitely my preferred walking around camera. I’ve done 3-4 hour stretches with it in my hands. My favourite lens to throw on it these days is the 27mm f/2.8 from TTartisan. Makes for a very light setup! Let me know if you have any questions about the camera 📷

Hey, ask any question you like haha. That’s a tough one for me to answer because I’ve never used the Z6. The main difference between the 2 being the Z6 is full frame where the Z50 is APS-C (crop censor). I heard that Nikon discontinued the Z6 so you may only be able to buy it second hand. Not 100% certain on that. What are you looking to photograph?
Either no lens is attached, or the attached lens is a non-CPU lens. To shoot with a non-CPU lens, change the shooting mode to "P", "S", "A", or "M". This prbm solution please?
