In today's POV I take to the streets with the cheapest lens I could buy! For $55 US, I found this beauty, the TTArtisan APS-C 25mm f/2.0. Follow the link to buy your own! ⬇️
(ttartisan.com/.... You can buy this lens for all of the major camera brands like Sony, Canon, Fuji, etc. Over the past few weeks this lens has lived on my Nikon Z 50 and I'm loving the results! It's a perfect focal length for walking around with and it's small form factor makes it easy to carry for hours on end. Watch along as I take you on a stroll around beautiful Langley, British Columbia. From murals to 50's diners, you're not going to want to miss this one!

Shutter therapy at its best! Amazing photos. Thank you for your work. Where I live the sky is gray and dark for weeks and even months on end. I have to go out and make pictures nevertheless. Just not so inspiring.

Amazing photos!🤩 You were able to capture pictures of places that I didn't know existed, in my own hometown. Brogan's is the best!

Thank you thank you!! That’s a very scenic little spot of Langley. There are 20 something murals in that couple block radius. You should go try and find them all! Oh and Brogan’s was definitely the highlight. Will definitely be going back!

I’ve been using this lens with my ZFc for about a year now along with the 50 f2 also from TTArtisan. I love these affordable lenses and they can produce some nice results! I’m glad someone else caught on to them as well

That awesome to hear! I was so surprised with the results from such an inexpensive lens. Which one do you use more 25 or 50? I was looking at getting a 50mm lens at some point. Have a 25, 35, and 85mm prime already :).

hey can you share your camera config for when you use the 50mm f2. i use the same with z30. wanna see if i am missing any crucial settings for it.
@RolandKaufmann
@RolandKaufmann 10 месяцев назад
@@nomanCyclewala not sure I’ll be getting the 50 f/2. But which settings are you wondering about? Maybe I can help anyway.
@nievesrichardj
@nievesrichardj 10 месяцев назад
@@RolandKaufmannI use the 25 waaaaay more. The 50 on the ZFc is just too telephoto for what I tend to photograph in the streets. However, when I do want that reach for a scene, it’s nice to have. The quality is virtually the same to my eyes.
@nievesrichardj
@nievesrichardj 10 месяцев назад
@@nomanCyclewalaI usually set my aperture to f4, ISO low, and adjust from there. I’m near NYC, so when I’m in a subway station or somewhere with not a lot of light, I appreciate I can stop these down to f2

Old school hobbyist here (B&W film days), I've never looked in a mirrorless camera viewfinder, how does manual focus work? When turning the lens focus ring manually, does the subject focus and defocus like on a ground glass screen? I tried to find examples on YT, all I find is switching the A/M button, and that the Z50 will switch to manual focus by turning the focus ring on Z lenses. I'm wondering how it actually functions, or looks, as you try to focus. Is it relatively easy and quick to focus using that TTArtisan lens? Thanks very much, enjoyed your walk around shots.
@RolandKaufmann

Hey Mike, I’ve never used a film camera but mirrorless lenses work the same for focusing. Mirrorless bodies allow manual focusing a few different ways. There’s a switch on some lenses or you can select manual focus in the focus area menu. Through the viewfinder I can pretty reliably dial in focus. Sometimes I’ll punch in to 100% zoom in order to critical focus at wider apertures like 1.4 and 2.0.

Vintage lenses and thoses chineses manual lenses are often fun to use :) ( and theses chineses lenses doesn't need any adapter, which is nice ^^ ) I doing somes tests with the Helios 44M4, a nikkor pre AI 50mm F1.4 and even a Panagor 135mm F2.8 ( didn't even remember that brand being a thing ^^ )
@RolandKaufmann
@RolandKaufmann 10 месяцев назад
They are very fun! I love the tactile feel of them, the clicks of the aperture ring… Those sound like some cool lenses to try out. I may be in trouble if I go to deep down the manual lens rabbit hole hahah

I am look to get into macro photography but I don’t want to break the bank. What adapt mounts do you recommend for the Z50?
@RolandKaufmann
@RolandKaufmann 10 месяцев назад
That’s a great question! So great that I don’t know the answer 😅. Unfortunately don’t have any experience with shooting macro on the Z50. Do you have the 50-250mm kit lens? It’s not macro but it has a minimum focus distance of 1.6 ft at 50mm. I’ve seen people take insect photos like that…
@Grungedude93
@Grungedude93 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for the feedback! I have that kit lens actually. I do use it for wildlife and insect shots, i am looking for an improved macro lens experience. Just seeing if I have to stick with the z series lenses or do the adaptors work well.
@RolandKaufmann
@RolandKaufmann 10 месяцев назад
@@Grungedude93 ahh okay. In that case you’ll need a macro lens or adapter like you say. I’d have to look into what the best option is. I know macro lenses aren’t cheap, but am not experienced with adapters. Maybe there is a RU-vid video out there though 🤓

i was gonna ask why didnt you post the metadata along with each shot , then i realised its a no-cpu lens 😆. i have the 50mm version of the same. i find it rather difficult to focus without punching in. cause sometimes the peaking highlights dont appear at all on some objects
@RolandKaufmann
@RolandKaufmann 9 месяцев назад
I have a legitimate excuse this time! Lol. Yeah the digital punch in is necessary for nailing focus, I got a lot faster at it as the day went on. Never tried peaking, but that’s a good idea!

@@RolandKaufmann i have set the Fn button in the front of the cam to punch in. as my fingers naturally rest there so i can quickly punch in and out.
