ahh the Rolling Stones, this must be one of their most recognisable songs! I must admit the Stones aren't my most favourite band but I think they are amazing to still be performing after so many years, I take my hat off to them! Incidentally, there was a local Aussie band called Hush who did a great cover of this song in the seventies. Loved your reactions, and the dog is very cute!

Well The Stones A classic among classic It was censored on TV for the most absurd line ( you can look it up ) Anyway amazing band and one of my first ever concerts , I wont say how long ago but Bill Wyman was still on bass. My top 2 songs 1. Little obscure but its is Salt of The Earth off Beggars Banquet ( Keith sings it and it last song performed on their movie called Rock and Roll Circus ) 2. Sympathy for the Devil also off Beggars Banquet album from 1968 which is inspired/based on one on my favorite books called The Master and Margarita : written in Russian around 1940 but not published until 1967 It was very hip reading at the time ( sorta still is ) and so Mick literally wrote this song as book was rolling of the presses l.

@jessem470 Hey Jesse, ok I will look it up to see the line you talked about. What a great band to be one of your firsts. I have seen them a few times but I didn't start seeing until the 80s when we had to go to Buffalo to see them because they couldn't cross the border for a while because of Keith getting caught with drugs. I had no idea that song was based on a book in Russian...very cool fun fact 🤗💙

Powerful song, Sue, and because it had a strong melody and was sung in a more pop / rock style, I found it more accessible than his angsty rap style .. Not that the other stuff isn't good, but I just can't listen to lots of that music .. His lyrics are always painfully honest and very intelligent .. Checked out a couple of Chinchilla songs .. She doesn't hold anything back in "Little Girl Gone"!

Fantastic song ! .. Loved it from the first time I heard it, and it still sounds good after many, many listens .. Not a big fan of this particular video though, as for me it takes away from rather than adds to the song .. Even for the 80s, it's a bit weird.🙄 .. I like Gloria Jones' soulful original, but Soft Cell's arrangement, and production, and Marc Almond's vocals take it to a new level IMHO.
@playitagainsue

@wayne_twentyfive I agree, Wayne. It is an odd video. Sometimes videos can add to or at least compliment the song but this video doesn't do either. But the song is very well performed and produced. Love Gerry and The Pacemakers ! .. This is one of their best, although my fave is the classic "You'll Never Walk Alone" .. Gerry's voice was just wonderful, and always had lots of feeling and expression, whether singing ballads or up-tempo numbers .. Their first No.1 hit "How Do You Do It" ( written by prolific hit-writer Mitch Murray ) was offered to The Beatles to be their first single, but they wanted to do one of their own compositions, and went with "Love Me Do" instead .. Cheers, Wayne

Their second single, another original called "Please Please Me" went to No.1, and the rest is history !

I met Gerry at the Falls Casino about 10 years ago and got his autograph to add to my collection. His voice was still pristine. A sweet and friendly guy. Married his childhood sweetheart for life. Told him I was at the original Cavern before they tore it down and that deserved a kiss. I got one!!!! His backup band was what was left of Badfinger after 2 of them had committed suicide. ☹(Ripped off by their manager). Geriatric and the Pacemakers (as my brother called them) were the first group to have their first 3 singles go to #1. Even The Beatles didn't do that! "How do you do what you do to me" was turned down by The Beatles and hit #1. The other 2 of the 3 consecutive #1's were "I like it" and "You'll never walk alone".
