Problem with artillery is that it fails in all a gameplay system should do or not do. It is pure spam, the low accuracy, high splash, and cheap cost contribute greatly to this, while also time killing any skill expression it could have and limiting counter arty to a suppresion role. Dying to it simply doesn't feel fair, you got randomly shot by a gun that wasn't even aiming at you, it feels frustrating because it is basically a RNG chance of magically dying. It doesn't fucking die, artillery is able to tank multiple hits from basically anything, hell, counter battery is just suppresion, arty is so quick to repair, so innacurate and so tanky, that the defender must royally fuck up to lose their gun. If artillery wasn't designed around sheer raw spam, maybe it wouldn't be so fucking asscheeks to play, were it designed with counterplay in mind, maybe it wouldn't feel so hopeless to be on the receiving end.
If (and it's a pretyy big if) I go for a weather station tutorial I would do it in devbranch so even in the best case scenario that's a long way out. Your best bet I think is to keep an eye on the wiki: foxhole.wiki.gg allthough they do not have the full information yet either at this moment.
2:12 + bunkers and in garrisons (also you can get "warm" status even when in corener of destoryed T1 Trench iirc, idk if they change it) It's amazing that at this point even Fire Pits have T2, while Filed Hospital is still "T1" and ESPECIIALY Devs had to mention "Fire Pits will have better artillery resistance" on Dev Stream, i wonder what player-build building what converts CWS to SS could you this ability better? Really good manual Freerk! :)
Im one of those people who would randomly walk in a facility. I'm more curious about the process and I'm always gobsmacked when it comes to seeing the designs people come up with.
You forgot the part where you get to the salvage field and it's been closed off by a regiment so you have to drive around to three others until you find one that you aren't locked out of 😂
My goodness THIS is what the tutorials should be like in Foxhole. Nothing makes sense. Before now I had no idea how to use stationary resource mines. I had been mining salvage by hand. This is why Logi has been such a pain for many people - the barrier to entry is so high. (I also didn't know how to make a personal stockpile and was wasting time pulling everything from public. Man I could have saved so much time!)
Really wish you and your buddy would have made just a few more tests, to see if you could get more friends to set spawn and see if players setting spawn had any diminishing returns or if it was linear
my turn to ask a question. Is it faster to tech individual branch of bunker technology, or to try to tech all of three branches at the same time if your goal is to unlock all technology?
I am pretty confident that if your ultimate goal is to unlock everything, there is no difference in trying to unlock one branch at a time or all branches at the same time. The total combined unlock time will be the same no matter which method you use.
idk if i missed it, but how much does each person setting spawn speed it up by? Also, thank you for your perseverance and patience to do all those tests
True. But the difference between the methods will stay the same. So setting spawn is going to be faster than just submitting no matter if you are in friendly or enemy starting territory.
Makes sense honestly, idk exactly how the Foxhole devs have programmed hammering in but the client might actually not even be sending commands to the server to repair
It's a though one. It might be that the client sends a request to see if anything needs repairing and the server repeatedly saying "nope, nothing to repair". But it might alos be that the client when loading entities in when you enter an area allready gets the "health" info and therefore knows there is nothing to repair.
I feel like Foxhole should have the option to host a small local creative test world by ourselves to learn the game I mean it would make vids like these easier and give new players a chance to learn the game and try stuff. Even myself being on a regiment ( smt like a clan) for a while for a lot of wars haven't given me even a chance to get into some of the late game stuff and if I wanted I would've had to be a very active player ( which I'm not since I cannot play a lot and doesn't have time) on a regi and would've had to build the super stuff myself or would've had to be friends with higher officers of a regi or smt like that. ( sorry for any typos english isn't my first) ( if you know anywhere the devs would see this lemmie know to post this there :D )
You could try this as a suggestion on the Foxhole Official Discord in the #game-feedback channel. I do agree that a seperate testing server would make things easier, but in Foxhole I go by the motto: if it is not painfull it is not worth doing An no panic about possible spelling mistakes, your english is fine
Thank you for your time and commitment in this tutorial series. You spent A LOT of time on this, more time than I would ever put in this. You deserve more than just my like Thank you for your service 🫡
Thank god you tested AFK hammering. I always told people it was a waste if you're not generating actual activity. The only boost this ever gave was simply having the spawns set, thank you for confirming this. Something to clarify for this test is whether repairing damage does contribute or count as 'actual activity' (similar to how respawning seems to be actual activity). This would be trickier to test because you'd need an enemy to do damage to a bunker core, but would be worthwhile imo. Another possibility with the submission tests is that there is a minimum threshold which was not being reached. For quite a while there was a theory that the 'submission commend popup' matched this threshold. I doubt anyone tested this as rigorously as you try to, but I do believe the threshold for this is 7 bmat crates (700 bmats) so some of your tests were slightly short of this popup threshold. Maybe the ammunition submissions did reach the threshold? The only way to be sure is have another player with their spawn set to see if a commend popup is created.
Yeah, the minimum threshold hypthesis is something that Nextra tested and in Live is apparently at least 400bmats or 800 salvage (foxhole.wiki.gg/Base_Upgrades). As for repairing, it is kind of the same as with multiple spawns and soemthing I negelected to point out for these tests. I tried to only test things you can influence yourself. So your base being damaged and you repairing is in a sense out of your control, so is the amount of spawn that are set at your base
It's refreshing to have as source of objetive information about the game mechanics be players actually empirically testing the mechanics... and not the usual... you know... cheaters and hackers doing reverse engineering.
For just hammering and digging I use click lock, so that wasn't too straining. The continous submission tests were pain though, especially the one with the 500bmat submission every 1 minute with the magic boxes 90m away
Freerk, I told you on Reddit, afk hammering is 100% real and not a lie . This has been common knowledge in builder groups for many wars now, with an overwhelming number of examples and evidence for it. It's very weird that you insist on this. You also tested on Devbranch, which immediately calls into question the validity of the tests. Edit: he doesn't call it a myth, he calls it a lie. That's even worse and more click - bait. Why would people lie about this? What is there to be gained? Why try and start some weird internet conflict when it's just players who didn't know about a mechanic and them slowly figured it out over several wars? There's no lie; that would imply a reason for lying. As though there's a builder agenda to get people to idle their computers or something. Insane.
He tested it... are you suggesting that everyone accept your dogmatic statement? Why not state what was flawed in his objective testing that didn't show the results you claim? Or leave a reference to the examples and evidence you said exist. Saying it is "very weird" to simply test and publish findings on something for the benefit of the community is ACTUALLY weird.
The fact that Freerk (and you, by extension) are framing this as a 'church' with 'dogma' is extremely cringe and frankly insulting to everyone that has done the testing on this in the past. Whichever faction you're on, you're more than welcome to to the publicly available faction builder discords and see the many posts that have been made regarding this.
I was simplying saying that to say a claim is false without an counter-evidence (i.e. make a separate claim) is, pretty much, dogma. I'm all for whatever the truth is, but it's weird to just refute something basically with 'the truth is out there', when apparently there is also incorrect information, such as this video/testing, according to you. If this is wrong, then there is a duty to show it, since clearly many more people will see the youtube video of a developer-promoted content creator than some evidence in faction builder discord servers.
@@Caecilius_Iucundus It's apparently designed for discrediting, without evidence, the entire premise of the video, which the comments are for... so yes I think you are correct. Stick to LARPing if this is your idea of useful discourse.
That could work, but a trench connector bp is pretty vulnerable. Although it has the upside of not costing any mats. Still I personally would probably go with some pilboxes and a watchtower. Which will provide a speed up and utility
I have been of this opinion for a long time. Setting spawn is the single most effective boost to tech. The submitting items thing I have often thought mainly works due to increased chance someone will set spawn while pulling items. One war on live I used a safe house in town with others for doing all our QRF work but we also kept it stocked with junk tankers would always want to use. Managed to rush the tech on it pretty fast.
Looks like lots of people had misconception on afk hammering, Its not that it boosts the tech by itself its just a thing to keep you from being kicked over night with ur SPAWN set, Which is like you tested the most important thing for the tech progress. Glad you showed them proof hope you still got ur sanity after such a painfull tests :'D
