Registering the unit was the first thing I did. One of the major differences was the serial number on a sticker on the top of the unit. I haven’t really noticed a difference in pressure, but I can tell the unit runs more smoothly.
5:37 Not sure why Active recommends to disconnect the hose for this part. I close the supply valve to my garden hose, with it still connected to the unit which is also still powered on, and then I depress the short gun trigger while keeping a finger on the power button of the pressure washer. The pressure washer will operate as normal for a duration of time as there is still water in the garden hose, but you will feel the vibration and sound ramping up when the supply is insufficient and you immediately hit the power button. Definitely not good for the pump to be in that high pitched whining state as it is trying to cycle air instead of water which can be worsened by cavitation.
I also broke an Active 2.0, and a CAT (same company) The culprit with these two was a leak in my garden hose reel for water inlet. It also had two elbows, 100ft hose of poor quality that i discovered a kink in right where it connects to the (cheap) hose reel with plastic fittings. so dumb. I spent some time educating on water inlet requirements. This is all in the back of my sedan btw, the trunk. Hence the complicated water inlet system. I read some forums and articles but mainly chat GPT was most helpful in helping me understand water inlet requirements. Very important and not talked about enough in the mobile industry i think. Worth a chat with your ai. There's a formula to follow for your particular specs on your setup to ensure your unit is getting the water it needs. Hope this helps somebody. Going forward I think I am just nixing the whole fancy hose reel for water inlet and just rocking a loose hose with one quick connect. too many variables to worry about with a reel, elbows, connectors, potential for leaks is too worrisome for me for now. Best of luck you guys. I probably will be buying another active, not sure yet.
I always release the pressure of the remaining water after the unit is powered off and I also run water through the system with the unit off before I start a wash to get any access air out of the system. Thank you for the video.
Thank you so much for this, seriously! I don’t think I would have thought about releasing the pressure with the unit off on my own. I already do the water through the system thing because my spigot is so far away from where I set up my pressure washer. I’m definitely going to start doing this. Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment! I think you saved me from breaking another pressure washer.
I was thinking about doing that vary same thing by getting the remaining water out after the Active when off. I get the air out of the lines in the beginning. Thought about doing it at the end. I contacted Adams, they said you didnt have to do anything besides unplug the garden hose as long as your not storing the Active in the cold. But still think it would be a good idea to get the water out. Thats why i thought it would be good to power off the Active before doing so. I was following the instructions and heard the high pitched nose and was thinking it is tough on the Active. Thank you @driveway detailer for making this video and helping calm some fears. LOVE MY ACTIVE I also was thinking about changing the orfus to 1.1. Glad i didn't and watched your video. Do or anyone have advice on how long your garden hose should be? I notice some air in the line on my 25 ft hose. I dont know if it is water trying to be pulled thru the house and not enough water or not. I bought a jumper hose thinking this might be a good way of eliminating that. Anyone have any thoughts?
I have a 50ft garden hose. I haven’t noticed any issues with air in the lines. Someone commented on quick connects on the inlet letting air in the lines. I’ll have to pay attention over the next few weeks to see if I notice any performance issues.
@thedrivewaydetailer okay that's nice to know. I also was thinking from the comment above that I have a cheap garden hose that kinks. I think with that jumper hose it will help with not having a kink.
Better option would be get a better hose like mtm and get a hose reel that would solve the heaviness and would be less cumbersome. Congrats on your first baby
I researched the MTM hose. I was able to find a good one on Amazon that was steel braided so I bought that one. One day I’d like to have a pressure washer set up in my garage with a hose reel and all of the connections, but for now I’ll roll it up by hand. Thanks for watching!
Hello, love your honesty. I was wondering why you didn't use a pistol grip on your hose to attach to the foam gun. You wouldn't have had to keep it flowing constantly, but I'm not judging or anything, just trying to help. Nice job on the video. Thanks for your time.
I honestly wasn’t thinking about it until I saw the Max Shine’s garden hose foam cannon. When I saw it I thought it was a much better design from the MTM. Thanks for commenting and for watching!
That’s really surprising. I’ve never had any problems with it. Maybe it doesn’t react well when it’s used as a topper on an existing coating? Thanks for watching!
I use the hose foamer when I need to pre wash my vehicle when I a little more (apc/car soap)aggressive step on caked on dirt. On your videos improvements. A. Create your video logo on the intro. B. Add a like and subscribe button? C. Camera angles on what you want show or explain. D. Be confident or feel comfortable with you being in front of the camera. So far your videos are informative. When you are feeling the content of your videos it shows on camera. Stay positive and thank you for sharing your detailing journey with us.
Thanks again for the comment. Your advice is really helping me change things with my content and (hopefully) will make things better over time. I’ve selected you as the winner of the giveaway. Do you have an IG or email so we can coordinate (if you’re interested)?
After many years of DIY detailing my cars in my garage, I recently bought a pressure washer and foam cannon. Wow! Washing with a foam cannon and pressure washer is awesome!!
I think all the people running the non steel braided hoses better switch it for a proper hose. I ran my karcher k1700 with a 75ft kobra jet so when i upgraded to the 2.0 i was already good.
I’m already looking at an obsessed garage hose to replace my non steel braided hose. It’s good you already had the proper equipment. I’ll probably end up buying a new 2.0 if customer service doesn’t send another unit. Hopefully using the unit with the proper equipment will give it some longevity. Buying a new unit may be a waste of money, but I did a hose wash yesterday and it was the worst. I hated it. Anyway, thanks for commenting and watching!
I hope someone can help U figure out where the serial number is located. I never heard of anyone having trouble with a pressure washer because of the brand hose they used. I think the unit just went bad. They should have had you ship the unit to them and replaced it. If that's the way their customer service is going to be I won't be buying a unit from Active.
The jury’s still out on customer service for me. I’ve only sent one email and had one very short phone call. I’m going to call them and try to get things figured out on Monday so I’ll see what the customer service experience is like. The serial number thing does bother me though. Thanks for watching!
Sorry to hear you are having warranty issues. I ordered the Active 2.0 and a 50’ uberflex hose. I believe many others tried this combination and experienced serious issues before Active issued guidance about using braded hoses. Luckily, I saw Keav’s review of the Active 2.3 and his comment about the uberflex hose causing the Active 2.0 to surge before I used my unit for the first time. Apparently, non-braded hoses cause the unit to surge. I never opened my uberflex hose and I will use the 25’ OEM hose until a new 50’ steel braded hose arrives.
I’m so happy for you that you discovered Keav’s review before you used the system. It’s a good unit but (like with most things) you need to use it properly to get the most out of it. Unfortunately I didn’t discover this until too late. Thanks for watching!
I’ve checked a few different times. The only thing I haven’t tried is unbolting the unit to see if it’s somewhere inside the unit. Thanks for watching!
Thinking you gamed the system by buying a cheap Amazon hose is the message. There are no magic beans, fairy dust or unicorns. I hate that you bought an Active thinking it was an upgrade over a cube. Most have had similar experience with Active. They seem more focused on marketing than product build quality. The mid-lower tier machine still isn't out there. Unless unicorn chasing is the thrill. That being said, I just ordered the EGO unit because I do a bunch of different type vehicles at the owners' locations and I don't drag my Kranzle around for foaming. So I may get bit as well.
I recently watched a couple of RU-vid videos of people having problems with their ARBlue units also. You’re probably right. The only real long term solution is buying one of premium brands. If my life circumstances were different I’d probably pull the trigger on a Kranzle and be done with it. Hopefully your ego does well for you. Thanks for watching!
Yeah I bought an active and ran it with a flexzilla for a one wash and it was already acting like it didn't like it. I just went and ordered a kobrajet hose, its more cumbersome but it beats the pressure washer giving out early.
I’m glad someone has had a similar experience. It’s a good unit. It sucks I didn’t learn how to use it properly until after I broke it. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
I think my biggest problem with it was the foam fan pattern isn’t as wide as it is with my MTM. I’ve been playing around with foam thickness recently. I’ve been testing to see if foam that isn’t as thick is better at removing dirt.
I would say that contrary to what marketing says, there is no hydrophobic product that will prevent water spotting. I'd say they increase water spotting. Most dishwasher rinse agents are actually hydrophilic and cause the water to sheet off completely. When you have a hydrophobic surface you end up concentrating some of the water that is left and leave the spots. Where the waxes do help is preventing the water spot from etching the clear. If you want to avoid water spots when you dry I would say DI rinse is the best way. Otherwise, a spray bottle made with distilled or DI water and a rinseless wash or waterless wash like Armour Adapt as a drying aid is about as good as you can get. This stuff will make the water spot easier to remove, but I don't think it can truly prevent water spotting for any water that remains on the surface.
I’ve had mine for 4 years but I don’t use TGA (. Thio Glycolic Acid) wheel cleaner because that can and most likely will kill a spray head over time. So like APC’s , 3D wheel and tire cleaner and all my rinseless washes
I didn’t consider the product I was using in the bottle was the reason the bottle broke. That’s amazing you’ve gotten 4 years out of yours. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching!
See if Kwazar will either send you a proper working one as a replacement, or give you a full refund. If that fails, put it in the trash along with the reputation of the manufacturer.
I wish it wasn’t like that. Based on my initial impressions after I took it out of the box I thought it would last for years. You’re right though. Definitely a lesson learned. Thanks for watching!
There is no specific dilution ratio listed on the bottle. The only instructions are to use 1-2oz in your foam cannon. I fill my foam cannon with about 17oz of water and dilute at a 1:5 or 1:6 ratio. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
You could've used 1 gallon of water and used 2-3oz of the chemical. You weren't cleaning anything, just applying the product once the car is clean already. 1 gallon of water is more than enough for 1 small vehicle.
That’s a really good point. I honestly wasn’t thinking about that. When I was preparing for the video the only thing I was thinking about was treating it like a regular wash. Now that I think about it 5 gallons was a bit overkill. Thanks for pointing that out, and thanks for watching!
I’ve never had that issue with mine and I’ve never heard of that happening. Maybe it has something to do with shelf life? I use mine pretty regularly maybe that’s why mine hasn’t congealed like yours?
These products, especially the Adam's ,should be able to strip off tire shine, etc. Adam's has a higher pH. I've tested both these products and both are good, but I think the Adam's is a little better.Nice comparison.Subscribed!
The Adam’s is a great product. I’ve been using it for a long time. Thanks for subscribing! I’m still trying to figure all of this out so it means a lot.
Great video. I love these real world situation. I wonder if I was to work the product in with a wash mitt then rinse off with garden hose? I don’t have a pressure washer. Thx
Dude.....where have you been, this stuff has been around for years 🤣 It is a good product, and great on the bodywork, but it's getting bloody expensive these days, and a lot of other manufacturers have brought out similar products that are equally as good.
@@tonyhill1916 in Sweden all good brands cost a lot but my car which by no means is anything fancy cost about 40-50 000 EUR to spend 200-500eur even yearly over 5 years is still not even 5% of the total value but the paintwork and protection will keep the value for me so see it as anything else you spend money but it is worth it. Also my time is not free so if I can coat my car with protection in 5 min giving as good As 30 min work and keeping 2-3 months it is worth it.
I'm a weekend warrior myself. Purchased the Active 2.0 a couple months back, and think it's great as well! Nice beading on your car...Get the Metro Master Blaster to blow that water off, you'll also like it as well!
I’ve been thinking about getting a master blaster for a while. Right now I use my shop vac to blow out all the cracks and crevices. The 4 horse power engine would definitely make things easier and quicker though. Thanks for commenting!
