Is there a difference between cheap and expensive foam cannons?

I’ve always admired detailers like Pan the Organizer and Rick from RadGarage. When I first started detailing I thought if I wanted the kind of results they got I need to buy the products they used. I’ve been detailing for some time now and as I’ve gotten more confident I’ve learned you can get the same results with less expensive products and tools.
The tools you use are less important than the process you take to detail. Some tools are better than others, it I’m sure the detailers I mentioned can use less expensive tools and still get the same outstanding result.
On today’s video I tested two foam cannons. One is my MTM Hydro I use on every detail. The other is a cheap Amazon foam cannon I bought for $20.

After many years of DIY detailing my cars in my garage, I recently bought a pressure washer and foam cannon. Wow! Washing with a foam cannon and pressure washer is awesome!!

Just a heads up. The knob on top is a water knob. Plus is more water, minue is less water.

If you change the oriface in the Amazon one you get better foam.

I think my biggest problem with it was the foam fan pattern isn’t as wide as it is with my MTM. I’ve been playing around with foam thickness recently. I’ve been testing to see if foam that isn’t as thick is better at removing dirt.

I get the point about the Amazon Basic. You can play many cheap guitars out there, but it's the Martin & Co. you really want. It's also why you own an Active pressure washer :)

I don’t play the guitar, but I think I get the point. I haven’t used the Amazon foam cannon since that video because the MTM is better. I would love to own a Kranzle pressure washer one day, but Active is what was in my budget. Good equipment gets good results, but sometimes you don’t need the Cadillac brands to get the job done (although the user experience and quality of the finished product may be better). I've never owned a pressure washer. I just ordered one a couple of days ago, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. Most people don't care about detailing a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, but I do. Thanks for the response. Keep it up.

I might have missed it in the video, but do they both have a 1.1mm orifice in them?

The Amazon foam cannon has a 1.25 I believe. The MTM has a 1.5. I wasn’t thinking about the orifice size when I recorded the video. If I ever do another video like that I’ll have to make sure the orifices are the same. Thanks for watching!

I think it would last as long as you used and maintained it properly. It isn’t as high quality as the MTM, but not so cheap that you would think it would break easy.
