so, the question of the week is does your 454 in need of a rebuild? what is the answer? i think if you low miles, and always treat it well i would not only rebuild but put a brand new one inside and let that tearup the street in the neighboorhood, put those extreme super loud mufflers, fav tunes and let it roar like its brand new once again, do you feel me
Yes indeed it does sound some like maintenance is due and perhaps some other additional checks and so forth. Look forward to seeing some footage of the old Impala. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Using flare unions for the long runs down the frame are perfectly fine. From the factory, freightliner custom chassis had at least 2 flare unions on the 19ft box trucks I worked on at FedEx. As long as you have double flared the tubing it’s 100%
What I do when I bend hard lines and seems to work for me is I get a metal hanger or 12 gauge wire (depending on the job) and bend it to shape what I need to bend and go back and use it as a template when I bend my hard lines it seems to work so I know exactly how much I need and what direction I need my bends to be
Maybe a whipper snipper would resolve your wet feet issue?? The plug wires look really neat. The engine sounds really nice. Look forward to more. Catching up on videos again. Lots going on. Be safe and stay well.
@@LeftForDeadGarage well that sucks I just order an o ring and gasket my oil pressure gets closer to 0 every trip if I’m not mistaken ig it’d say 30 psi?
i have a money question, if you want to "get" extra oil out of the car plastic bag like you are doing, etc and if you have just enough cans to change it but you dont want to waste money if you add not even half or third water would that ruin the car etc would the car engine notice it when you warm the car etc or just driving wherever you go and go bout your business on the road?
That water would cut down on the oil’s ability to do its job. Once it mixes you end up with “milkshake”. Iam not sure if the water would ever evaporate from the oil with engine heat or not. I don’t really know if engine damage would come before the evaporation happened. You will get condensation under the valve covers at times and a long drive cycle will dry that up but that’s only a small amount of water. Thanks for watching
@@LeftForDeadGarage when i was talking about water, first in my mind, since some or many or majority oil we all use is extremeley thick. i was thinking just a "tad" as in a few drops nothing noticable etc to screw up the strength life etc of any motor etc, thats all, i should have more clearer, I was thinking like when you cook and "slightly" add just water to see the bottem of the jar like i mentioned above in my response in todays response,
i have a few questions, my parents bought the same car you were working on the chevy, i am a picky and have a great hearing, and noticed and maybe its just me, its always noisy. i know my parents barely put miles on it, it was like five yrs later i noticed it i forgot to tell ya i was born the same yr of the car 65 it was driven pretty much around town reg rountine driving low miles no abuse just old fashioned loud we didtnt change the engine etc
The engine could have been noisy and needing an adjustment. I’ve chased my valve train noise for years. It comes and goes, it probably comes down to a combination of old parts and new “hotrod” parts.
The bushings were toast and the arms were all pitted up so I decided to put something good under the back. The panhard bar I built. I’d love to do the front in all global west too. And a rear sway bar to match the front bar.
Those trucks that came bbc had a notched frame for exhaust and a different floor pan in the cab. Of course it had a more heavy duty rear end and leaf springs, but also had a different front grille
That’s interesting, only floor differences that I know of were high and low hump tunnel. The big block was an option in 73 and it would have probably came with the 12 rear like this one has. I was surprised to find that is was a 12 bolt, sadly it only has 3.08 gears. Thanks for watching
The more I work on this truck the more I keep thinking that I could actually make a living doing this type of work. Turn out honest work to the best of my ability is a fair amount of time.
I ran into that issue on the 51 Stude with the under-floor master cylinder. I actually cut the pedal arm BELOW the floor and welded in spacers to move it to the left 1 inch. Zeke
It’s had a few appearance changes since this video. Cowl hood and some pro star looking wheels. It’s a solid car now though, he followed us on PowerTour back in June
That floor has been hacked to sh$%!! And that frame rail looks like swiss cheese with all those bolt holes in it. The brake/clutch setup looks great. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Thanks! New sub. I was looking for a reason my old one-wire alt drains the battery to ZERO overnight. I just got my 69 C10 back from a "mechanic" that rewired some stuff. He added a negative terminal disconnect and said the new EFI had a drain. It does a little but not enough to kill an Optima red overnight. I'm thinkin he wired it wrong. He did some other dumb stuff too. Time for me to work on it!
There’s more than one car at the Left for Dead Garage that is capable of letting the smoke out of a set of tires. Looks like he’s pleading the fifth. 😂
20 pounds of $hit in a two pound bag. Those pedal centerlines seem pretty far apart. The Vair is 8 inched between centers. What’s the center distance on the Impala? My brother had similar issues on his 51 Studebaker/small block Ford setup. He did what you are thinking about. He cut the tabs and shifted the pedals to the left a couple of inches.
Not only did Ray Charles work on the Truck he also had 3 blind mice and a barrel of monkey's working on it. It was a circus I tell you ! And the ring Master is an IDIOT !!! I just don't know how else to put it !!!!! LEFT FOR DEAD GARAGE THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU I am so sorry for the cluster I dropped in your lap.
His is for sure nicer and the price reflects that. Both of these kits have their place for builds. Now that I’ve done this one, I’ll continue to use Russ’s kit unless a customer wants Henry’s kit.
