I never said he wasn’t good… I literally said I like the player, but garland came with the OEL package. Not his fault, but anyone in the right mind would rather just have Guenther on an ELC contract for salary Cap purposes
but what's reinhart expected to make next contract? (double digit millions /per season, for long-term? impossible for canucks to afford that, unless they trade pettersson - the other double digit millions guy signed to long term they already have, so it's just switching one superstar for the next, doesn't move the needle
@@DeanerHDreinhart’s 28 yrs old , coming off his best season ever (57 goals! & 94 pts in 82 games, & is in the stanley cup final possibly going to win the cup) & now UFA , with a rising salary cap league wide & many more players making double-digit millions- its ch-ching time, he’s cashing in his agent will make sure of that! im guessing 13+/mill per
Fuck Florida! Those cheating cun'ts are going to lose and rightfully so! Scripted playoffs 2 years in a row! Crooked ass reffs in Toronto could not have made it more obvious!
I don't think it's about the pressure of this market but rather that this core would not do well together in the playoffs on ANY team! All 5 of this teams' highest paid players are the same and soft. They wither in the playoffs and it's incredible how many years it's taken for most people including the Leafs management to wake up!
Sam Reinhart would be amazing. He would have to want to cone here. His contract projection is just under 9 million. Ge could easily get more though. That is do able, especially if we somehow move mikheyev. If I was in charge I would pick up Jonathan Marchessault for 4 and change. I like jake Guentzel but he shoots left. Petty needs someone who can shoot right. An underrated problem with that line was they all shot left.
Necas is an unknown experiment, but Reinhardt & Toffoli have proven experience! To build players around an expensive pylon like Petterson is a big, bad idea!
Personally I think we don’t go for the biggest fish we pick up more mid six line 2/3 kinda guys. Mantha is way cheaper, big as hell and can score goals. Arvidsson is fast, can score, plays that two way style Tocchet likes. We could get both of them for the cost of one Necas or Reinhart or Guentzal. Guess I’m a depth guy.
Yeah you’re probably right it’s likely the more logical route, I’m just kind of spitting ideas out considering the ties reinhart has to van. But I do like arvidsson, particularly his speed, but maybe he’s a little undersized?
Brother. There is zero chance we pick up two top 6 forwards without gutting the back end. That would mean no Hronek no Zadorov you’d have soucy and Myers as your second pair and Juulsen and idek Cicek? As your full time bottom pair
I’ve always liked Reinhart, however I don’t think he’s what we need right now and will definitely be too expensive for us unless he signs for under 7 or 8 mil for us on a discount. I also think he’s benefited from playing in Florida. If he was still on Buffalo, his asking price as a UFA would probably be 2-3 mil less per year then it is now playing on Florida
This isn't as far fetched as people seem to think. Never count out the possibility that a guy would want to come home. Many players are actually counting down the days until they can do so as a UFA. As was mentioned, he'll need a big payday, but we have more than enough money free if we move on from some of the pricier guys that we have as free agents. And yes, dumping Mikheyev would be a big help also.
I also wouldn’t discount (as someone who left Vancouver) that he might like his life in Florida and wouldn’t be so quick to want to come back to pay double the tax rate and deal with 10x the rain.
Reinhart's current Cap hit is $6.5 Million . He is coming off a career year, well above career average. He will be looking for $9 to $ 10 Million .I would be careful.
i honestly would try to sign both guys like reinhart and guentzal obv gonna take lots of cap but then fill the rest of the spots with cheaper guys like dillon or hakanpa and look at some other options for bottom 6 maybe even internally maybe who known
At least 10. Potentially more. Guy scored almost 60 this year. All it takes is a couple of teams believing that despite all of the evidence that this is a 30 goal guy who had an unusually good season and to believe he figured something out. That his is a 50-60 goal guy now to see that number go up. He could get 12 this year. That could happen. Anyone who pays him more than 8 is going to regret it for the entire length of his contract.
I think these guys mentioned are all out of the Canucks price range. Otherwise they would sign their own UFAs. But they can't, because they are pretty much capped to a maximum 6 million for those top end acquisitions. Both Zadorov and Lindholm were under that amount last season, which is way they were able to come here. But that number has not changed. They must find capable players under 6 million.
Under the assumption that Reinhart gets to UFA, how much do you think hell be asking for? As far as Im concerned, wed have to move Pettersons contract to make space for Reinhart and something tells me that moving Petterson isnt exactly on managements radar.
Supposedly at the trade deadline teams were asking to be able to talk to him about potential extensions. That's fairly common for high ticket deadline guys. And the rumor at the time was all the Canadian teams backed off because he said he wanted to play in the US and wouldn't extend with them.
Reinhart is having an aberration year. He's not nearly a 60 goal scorer he's normally a 30 goal scorer. His production is virtually guaranteed to fall of substantially signing him this off season at a huge premium is a massive trap that's bound to haunt a team long term.
