Great facility ! I believe the D SC 1 with the game handling component also qualifies for the requirements! The young chap shooting the young buck would benefit from a roesack such a the Napier Predator would help avoid the blood and gore from a shoulder carry or just making a rucksack of the Roe by "Legging" it by cutting the rear tendons and tucking the forefeet through the loops created?!😉

Hi Allan, regrettably, unlike the PDS1 which comes with a LGMH Course, new DSC1's no longer come with a Food Hygiene Certificate, so anyone currently doing DSC1 is not eligible to drop off carcasses until they have passed a LGMHC. As for Jonty's carry method, in truth he's an experienced stalker, but agreed, there is some good kit out there that helps assist with a hygenic extraction. Thanks fro watching.
@deerjonty
@deerjonty 26 дней назад
Hi Allan, thanks for the comment. I was actually carrying the carcass a short distance to where I was going to do the suspended gralloch, not a particular fan of dragging when they're of the weight that can be carried; just out of respect. But I do agree, post gralloch I have used a myriad of roe sacks and I find them particularly helpful, albeit sometimes cumbersome when not in use.

I wish Ireland would wake up and smell the roses on this too.. On small islands well comparatively speaking, The population density is far greater than on a continent.. Shooting with a rifle here in ireland takes quite a bit of planning.. You cant just walk out into the wild and start pinging off shots.. Theres likley houses no more than a mile away from you anywhere even if you even think it might be remote enough.. Actually in probably 70% of the country side your within walkng distance of several houses under 1 mile.. If bowhunting was legal, you could shoot anywhere, which is ideal for the places I know of that have deer.. . Sombody only got shot in the arm by a stray bullet last year so thats not looking good now is it..

I'm living in Europe on the Czech boarders with Slovakia and its legal in Slovakia and hopefully legalised in the Czech Republic very soon. Iv been hunting deer in the UK since a young man professionally and privately holding the Dm1 and 2 when 1st introduced. I feel bow hunting is just as efficient as a rifle also and people tend to get the deer in closer with bow unlike the pot shots taken at distance with rifles.

Those saying it's not efficient enough and a rifle kills with kinetic energy need to better understand how a rifle kills. The visual aspects differ from rifle to bow however, they both kill by blood loss and lack of oxygen to the brain resulting in death. The rifle may look like it knocks the deer over stone dead but it actually doesn't, the deer is knocked over by the energy transfer but it dies from bloodloss. The only exception is a rifle shot which destroys the brain that is the only shot placement causing an instant death. The Bow and the rifle are directly comparible when measuring bloodloss. As with both the person behind the weapon is most likely the weakest link.

Am i right in thinking that in the usa a large proportion of bow hunting is done from tree stands and the realistic range of a bow is upto 30 yards 🤔
@countrymansdiary

Yes. Hunters set up a blind or stand near game trails or feeding areas so as deer pass through or gather to eat, they know the range.

Howdy Team 😁 I'd love to see bowhunting legalised in the U.K.😋, the nah-sayers can just stay at home in their cotten-wool bubbles 🙄 But with a Labour government about to take the reins of power ("it would appear😬"), who are more worried about getting dudes in dresses into biological women's spaces.............. I'm very sorry to say, I can't see it happening 😢 and I'm absolutely guttered to be the one to have to point that out 😒 I'm a Kiwi and when I'm living in NZ, I live, breathe and wet-dream Bow-Hunting 😋 I just moved back to Cambridge for a bit, brought me bow with me (just for the range, not for hunting🤨) and I can't even find a club within a reasonable distance that I can go to for practice 🙄 Its always either, 60lb is too much, range finding bow sights ain't allowed, Carbon arrows ain't allowed or I've even had "We just don't allow anything that even looks like a hunting bow on our range AT ALL!" So getting folks trained up to standard in some areas may be your first challenge 😬 Bow hunters argue over broad heads..... like you pomes argue over football teams or beer 🤣 If they ever do make it legal......... and that's a big "IF"! And you decide ya wanna hunter Deer with a bow 😋 Than hunt Rabbits and Hares 🐇 😉 I'm not pulling ya leg 😉 some of the best training you can do for putting an arrow through a deers lungs..... is to hunt rabbits and Hares 😜 Trust me 😁

Bow hunting is a great way of hunting. It’s more challenging and as every other form of hunting, training and ethics should be considered. I don’t agree to register the bows as firearms. This will cause problem to the archery in total. A bow hunting certification/ examination is more viable.
@SteveLofthouse_
@SteveLofthouse_ 2 месяца назад
The margin of error in bow hunting is far higher than using a rifle, and that gives a greater chance of injuring the deer instead of a clean kill. I would suggest that only the top 25% of bow hunters are professional enough and experienced enough to ensure not only that a good shot is taken, but more importantly, that an 'iffy' shot is declined. Put the two things together and you get a recipe for disaster by the "dead is dead" brigade. In the hands of a highly trained hunter with good self discipline there is an arguement for bow hunting... it's the majority of others I worry about.

@@simoncooper6939 we've all seen videos from the US of wounded animals from competent archers (Fresh Tracks etc) due to miscalculation of range by just a couple of yards. There's a much higher chance of a wounded animal with a bow and anyone who says otherwise is simply trying to justify something they know not to be true.
