I asked my Mexican friend about this and he said Romani gypsies come up to the US through Mexico, where they pick up Spanish along the way. So it's easy for them to be mistaken for Mexican, with their dark hair, swarthy looks, and etc. Sometimes they do it on purpose to disguise their real identity. The funeral thing is just who they are. Nothing is sacred. You would NEVER see a Mexican do that. First off, they are too busy working...Our city (New Orleans) has Mexican construction guys, road work people, cleaners, carpenters, etc. All WORKING....The 'vatos' are incredible. Good to have them with us...

So I promise you they are not Hispanic. They are Romani aka Gypsies. I have a friend who pretended to be Hispanic for a very long time and later admitted he was not Hispanic but he is from the Gypsy community. He said they have the parking lot scams going. They put their kids to work. He doesn’t participate but I can say personally know a gypsy who posed as Hispanic for years.
Also Romani are not Romanian. Not to be that annoying guy but just to keep it 💯. Romani are migrant communities originating in India a long time ago and have lived in Romania and Hungary and other Central European countries for a long time. They learn the languages they need to and stateless and transient worldwide.
My friend did this for most of high school. He said he was Hispanic like us and then he later admitted he was Romani. I mean, it’s all good. We love the dude either way, but they do try to pass.
