Sterling silver is 92.5% silver.. Coin silver is usually 80-90 silver and the remainder copper. That bracelet will last forever.

Ernie Lister, this is the best history of Navajo silver I have ever heard. I am a Navajo metalsmith. I have silversmiths in my kin. I had heard that Navajo silverwork was partly created because the Spaniards were run out and their silver money was no longer worth more than its raw material. True?

I have searched for years for your knowledge in books. Your video shows how it’s done by a master of the craft. It’s nice to see that true silversmithing by a real live Indian is alive and well. Keep going strong, beautiful work !!!

The spirit of poverty does NOT live here lol! I love Navajo stories & history. My grandmother on my fathers side is from the Island of St. Vincent, but if you were to see photographs of her, you would think she was some sort of Navajo Indian or along those lines. We are all tied together and one spiritual being! Thank you for these lessons.

This video is like a living Norman Rockwell painting. To see an elderly craftsman creating his art from old metal tools with his tired aching hands, in this dimly lit room, with failing eyesight, on a cold day and with very little heat. Most would think it sad, many would quit after one day of this, but yet he is content to provide just the "necessities" in life. We all could learn valuable life lessons from this example. Thank you sir, for sharing a little of your private life, and allowing us to spend a brief moment with you. Ahéhee'.

I saw some of his work in a store that carries imported goods from tribes all over the world. Very beautiful indeed! Just imagining the amount of concentration and patience needed to craft such things gives me a headache. Definitely would love to purchase one of his art piece’s sometime.

Can you speak about the fake dyed stones, like Howlite. Also, the Mojave Green Copper manmade turquoise. People passing off dyed, and manmade turquoise as natural. They are improving the fake turquoise. How do you know what is fake and what is real? Thank you 😊
