Did you clean out and fully strip all of the copper from your barrel before you grouped , it's because you shot a standard bullet after shooting an all copper bullet don't blame the ammo or the shooter blame the copper barrel.
Wow you found what, one of twenty that have been produced? I don't know how many Henry put out but their customer service is a waste of time Haha they wouldn't take my money after several phone calls so now they never will again ! TC and CVA will be getting my money from now on.
Save your time and gas money folks, Henry's customer service is awful, so I recommend CVA or TC ....trust me . That's the two that I'll be going with after my first hand experience with Henry's customer service ove several phone calls. Shame really
Thank you! I've been trying to figure out how to get the muzzle brake off of my model 11 (same as your brake) and hadn't thought of heat, though I too determined a 3mm and 7/64" Allen wrench would fit through the holes. However, if the threads are that poorly done; I am not sure I want to bother now as I'd be concerned about getting anything back on there, the way those threads are damaged. Even worse if one was to pay a gunsmith to do it only to find out they had such poor quality threads. Makes me never want to buy another Savage.
I have a Savage 11 long range hunter also. I decided last night i was going to take mine off. I sprayed some Kroil on the brake and ran a allen wrench through the holes. Then got a pair of vise grips locked them tight enough were it didn't slip then took a rubber mallet and hit the vise grips it came right off. My threads looked perfect bought a silencer so had to get that brake off. hope this helps.
I can get 3435fps with the 75gr bthp match from hornady. I have the bergara b14 hunter 22-250 with the 1in9 twist 22in barrel. I use the winchester staball 6.5 powder. I won't post any data but that's what I can get. You can go to shooters reference and get a pretty good idea of what the charge can be though. Let me tell you that it hits hard, even out to 420y.
I got a 721 Remington and it has a checkered factory stock anyway it was a 30-06 and I got it from a pawn shop the rifle just didn’t shoot so I took it to a friend house who had a bore scope and the chamber was not cut straight to the bore so I am re-barreling it to a 280AI I ordered it from Shilens I have never built a rifle before but I have a barrel vice and the rench for the action and the barrel is already pre threaded and crowned and short chambered now I am waiting on my finish reamer it’s going to be a fun project
Good to know AR comp might be a viable powder in the triple deuce. That caliber will flat spoil you accuracy wise. I have a 788 in glass with a Canjar trigger. It will be the last rifle I ever get rid off. Glass bedding the wood stock really helped as did the trigger. But the fiberglass stock made it truly great. My rifle would absolutely not shoot 50gr Nosler Ballistic tips. The groups made me want to 🤮. I went back to my 73’ loads of Sierra Blitz ( not Blitzking unless they’re the short ones) and 52-53 Sierra bench & match were nearly one hole groups with I4198 Rem cases and Rem 7 1/2 primers. I backed off from close to max quite aways to get the best groups. I usually shoot a fouler on the target then use that for my aim point. Back in the day I used a Lyman All American 10x fine crosshair scope. Late 80’s put a Leupold M8 12x on it and the 10x on my 17 Rem. Not a looker but a great shooter 😂 nice video.
An excellent powder for use in the 45 - 70, especially with cast bullets, is AA -5744. Another good powder is the now-discontinued SR - 4759. Both are bulky and fill up most of the case.
160g-168g loaded with IMR 7828 is 3000 fps, 175g Nosler LRAB shoots a bug hole at 100 yards with bullets sorted for Ogive length and seated .003 off of the lands.
The Gentry muzzle break throws the sound forward, eliminating much of the concussion off of your head and you will for sure will reduce recoil to 243 Winchester level!
If i remember rite i beleive it was 16grains i found the load data on hodgdens site but dont take my word fer it look up load data fer 45 70 and unique powder
A gentleman shared a email from ramshot its actually the most accurate load at 100yds with hardcast 405gr bullets 55gr of tac its running 1749fps out of my 18.5" gbl
@ridge runner outdoors that's fantastic Sir I've got ample amount of it on hand that's my go to for 308! How's the recoil for a good solid range session Alliant Reloader 7 gets brutal 😳
Well my normal load fer 300gr jhp is 57grns of imr 4198 and i dont thank its that bad so im probly not the one to ask about recoil i love my 375 ruger too so im not much sensitive to recoil i rekon. Accuracy is 1" to 1 1/2" depending on my skills that day
When I was 18 I went to a guys house who was selling all his guns and by the time I got there all he had left was Remington model 600 in222 Iam 69 now I still love to shoot this little rifle and 34+ deer is a sniper rifle to take a deer you have to hit the spot . Very accurate rifle !
In my opinion, H4198 is the perfect powder for the 45-70 lever gun. It is a thumper of a load and very accurate. It shoots clover leave groups at one hundred yards consistently. Try 52 grains H4198 with a 300 grain Remington jacketed HP. Heavy crimp. I'm getting 2406 fps. That is twenty four hundred and six feet per second. It's stout. MODERN LEVER ACTIONS ONLY.
I knew that my Henry single shot did not have an ejector when I got it, but I kind of wish it did. The employees as Cabela's were also a little disappointed when they were checking it out with me (we don't get many of the single shots or the 45-70 rifles out in the West).
Love my bear hunter too. It likes the barnes. Shot 250 ,270gr, and 300 gr. Bullets. It seems to like the 300gr bullets best , I fitted it with nikon monarch 1x4x24 recomend for dangerous game good eye releif. I may change to 3 X 9 to get just a bit more high end..
You stabilized a 55gr TSX in a 1:14 twist .222R?? You are a MAGICIAN!!! How...?? Do you want to share some load data?? I've been trying for years, have an old Sako Vixen, early 60's wonderful rifle, hole-in-hole with lead, but just won't shoot copper! Tried some TSX and got about a YARD spread at 100m - it would not stabilize... now use a 45 gr Fox Hydro Chok bullet, works alright, but would like the Barnes TSX in just 50 gr to work - getting about 2 inch groups with Norma Brass, and it just isn't quite perfection for such a fine caliber!
First thing is clean as much copper out of yur barrel the barnes are softer copper then the lead bullets i normally soak my barrel . Like run a soaking wet patch with hopes benchrest cleaner and let it sit fer 15 to 20 min. Then dry patch then reapeat until i dont get any blue or purple color on any more patches .
If your rifle will stableize these bullets it will stabilize the barnes 55 tsx. 55 vmax = 0.816" o.a.l , 55 nosler bt = 0.817", 50 nosler bt = 0.792" , 50 vmax = 0.772" now the barnes 55 tsx = 0.798" the 55 vmax & 55 nbt are both longer then the barnes heck the speer 70gr sp is only 0.792" no longer then the 50 nbt stabilization is based on lenth not weight. You probly knew this tho but i do measure all my bullets and make notes on lenth. But sea level also comes into play too im about 1200 to 1500 feet above but wer i hunt is easy fer me to go from 1200 to over 6000 feet the higher elevation will stabilize better.
How deep do you seat The bullets? How Much free flight before The lands? And what speeds do you aim for With The 55 gr? I didn`t know about The effect of altitude, we Are at sea lever here.
@@nielsklingenbergvistisen8555 yea being at sea level hurts . C.o.a.l. 2.130 . And i go fer highest fps i can get without high pressures the faster u run it the better it will have a chance to stabilize it.
