I've had two of these and loved every minute of owning them. I've had vauxhalls most of my diving career and will always enjoy the ones up to the 90s but sadly these days, they havent got the same spark they used to have, Although o have a vectra c saloon diesel and am smitten with it.
Thanks for posting and restoring. These were fabulous little cars. Can hardly find any footage anywhere. I used to have the 1969 875 mkii saloon. Very fast and fun. They weren’t built very plush but great for an 18 year old!
I owned one of those exactly the same colour in 1976 it would wheelie it was much more stable than the Reliant with the engine over the back wheel driving
Think i saw this at the Darley dale show in Derbyshire a few years back, could not find the owner at the time, would have loved to have a sit in it. Used to have the car version when i was young, as i remember it was quite fast and it used to scare my mates especially with the 3 wheels great fun.
My dad had a 1984 Cavalier 1.6 L in silver green from new before giving it to my grandma in the early 90's. I have fond memories of it as a kid as my dad would take me out in for a spin every weekend when my grandma was unable to drive it. I remember how green the interior was and seeing the GM logo everywhere. I couldn't sit in the back due to it having no seat belts as it wasn't a requirement then. Sadly most MK2 Cav's have disappeared due to rust and joyriders. It was an easy car to pinch.
just love the tone of that engine when its first starting sounds really crisp love these engines best 4 cylinder petrol engine ever made in my opinion 90 brake from a 1.6 at that time was pretty remarkable even the woman on top gear said when road testing at launch said it felt more like a 2.0 the cortina 1.6 of the time where producing only 72 brake but ghia models did come with uprated carb which produced the same 90 brake but vauxalls overhead camshaft engines allways seemed more agressive and loads more fun to drive
Amazing condition and one of the early examples as well. Looks like 72,000 miles on it. I cant remember mk2 cavaliers coming in that colour as standard. Must be a respray. Still a great looking car. Keep it as it will become valuable in the future.
Came here from your Ebay ad. If i had the funds lived closer and the room to park it i`d snap this up and keep it just as it is or better and use it for years.
MonkeyHunch1 I take my Blue one to car shows and use it on my days off from work. This really is a beautiful car, the MK2 Cavalier really is a good looking car in my opinion.
Hi there, I just see you eBay advert, I’m sorry to hear that you have had so much trouble from other people. I am a Cavalier enthusiast I have 2 of these a Mid specification 1986 L C reg, and an early specification 1984 GL B reg. I really hope that you find an enthusiast that will take great care of the car that it deserves if I had room on my drive way I would buy it myself and take it to shows like I do with my 1986. My 1984 in my opinion isn’t ready for shows I am going to be doing a restoration on it and bring it back to how it came out of the factory, I suspect that this will take me a good 3 or 4 years to complete. I have a video walk round on my RU-vid account of my Blue one should you be interested in having a look. Anyway I have waffled on enough now, I just wanted to say good luck with the sale I will be watching with great interest. All the best. Steve.
Had one many years ago in this colour . Immaculate. Wish I still had it . It cost me 25 quid !. Yours makes exactly the same engine transmission sounds . Nice video upload and attractive views of Derbyshire in the snow , thanks for the nostalgia .
+canadiancatgreen Not really. Bond were a totally separate company making three wheeled cars as in this video. Then Reliant bought them out to eliminate the competition. But in buying them out they obviously acquired the Bond name also. Reliant then used the Bond name for the Bug. First Bond Bugs were built at the original Bond plant in Preston. But later that was closed down and Bond Bugs were built in Reliants factory at Tamworth alongside all the other cars.
problem again, 3 wheelers were built to weight, as ins as a sidecar,..loop in law,.so after the wngine & body all else was built to weight, thus the almost " tatty " interior all tri-cars had, seats were the wore, squabs on thin metal pipes,..shame really,...but the idea of using the petrol tank, & spare wheel as ballast on front, was ok, until half full & you could feel the " slop " as the fluid splashed from side to side, all in all, laurie bonds better idea,s...
I'm absolutely obsessed with A30s and A35s, I think they are fantastic. I'm only eighteen and if I had the money I would definitely get hold one to use daily. As for the pickups though, I've never really liked them that much, they are lovely but the first time I saw one i thought it was a modification that someone had created in their garage.
Still over 1500 registered on British roads in 2013, Austin Metro about a hand full ! It shows how good the A35 design was, racing at Goodwood they still look impressive.
Flyinganet, top class job.I have just started my bond 875 and im looking for a front windscreen would you have a spare or know where i would get one. thanks
