Honestly, when it comes to SOJ, I just really can't stand the Khurain cases. IDK if it's a "I want Apollo and Athena to have their moments" thing or if it's a "Everything feels super stacked against you" thing or something else entirely, but they just feel incredibly bogged down to me. Yes, the reveal at the end of Case 3 is good, and I do enjoy the first half of case 5, but for a game with such a clean divide between it's "Plot" cases and it's "Filler" cases, SOJ just feels to me like a situation where the Filler is just so dramatically more impressive than the Plot itself. I just find Cases 2 and 4 more... fun.
- Turnabout Corner and Serenade are good because you get to hang out with Trucy and Klavier. This is Trucy at her best and the only game Klavier is good in, you need to enjoy it. - Rite of Turnabout is the best SoJ case, but the second case is good too. Quality curve where it peaks in the middle. - Turnabout Academy sucks so bad. I played the original 3DS release, the stuff with Robin sucked so hard 0/10. - This is the only correct ranking.
11:20 Ga'ran really should have kept her queen garment. That actually makes her seem charismatic and threatening instead if looking like a disney villain.
Even if you discount Roger (which you shouldnt) then there's still the fact that Inga's a better candidate for final villain than Ga'ran. Though, seeing her trying to do the seance at the end and breaking down was amusing enough for me to ultimately be ok with her.
Apollo justice 'trilogy' is a weird trilogy of games that feels oddly disjointed from each game. The pheonix Wright trilogy felt like all three games had an overarching plot, and every plot threat established in all games was concluded with the last game. In Ace Attorney 4, you play as Apollo Justice, but for some reason, Pheonox Wright gets more plot relevancy for a game that is not even titled after him. Ace Attorney 5, just ignores every shiet from ace attorney 4 and reverts everything back to the point where it makes Ace attorney 4 a dream or something aside from new nodes to the previous game. Seriously tho, where tf is the 'Jurist System'? 😂 It even forgot its supposed main protagonist and then decided to give the protag his best friend completely out of left field and then just killed him even faster. Honestly, Ace Attorney 5 should've been an 'Athena cykes' game... Ace Attorney 6 is the only Ace Attorney that felt like a true Apollo justice game that gave Apollo a new backstory completely out of left field (seems like a trend for poor Apollo) At least it's the best game in the 'trilogy', Not because it is an amazing Apollo Justice game but an amazing 'Pheonix Wright Ace Attorney Epilogue' game that is set in the future, which shows you where the original trilogy characters ended up going. BTW....AA6 still has one unresolved plot thread. 😂 I thought trilogy was supposed to be self-contained? How can they make a new game now, which continues a previous unresolved plot thread without making the trilogy a quadrilogy?
Asides from the naming of the game and the trilogy collection itself... I'd still say that Dual destinies is one of the worst Ace attorney game ever conceived and it's not even an Apollo Justice game.
The Lamiroir reveal would have been great in Case 2-6, in retrospect it's weird that Lamiroir sent Trucy flowers for her show but didn't show personally. She knew Mr. Reus, the fact that his daughter was going to perform with a dude that left the Gramaryes in bad terms should have raised a few red flags for her. Obviously, no one would expect "Mr Reus wants to frame Trucy for the murder of a fake Mr Reus" but she had to know the guy and know that he might be dangerous for Trucy. It would have been a good excuse to appear.
Listen, it’s not Maya’s fault she’s always accused of murder. It’s Nick’s! Think about it, first time she meets him, immediately accused of murder. She goes away for half a year and Phoenix visits her. What happens? Immediately accused of murder! She leaves for nearly a decade and goes to another country. She’s fine in that country all that time… but what happens when Nick visits her? That’s right, immediately accused of murder!
i just love Pal Meraktis 2 i dunno y. The fact he thought he murdered someone and all the things that make this case complicated is just him tryna 2 dispose of a body is fascinating
A fair list, I just heavily disagree with both Turnabout Corner & Turnabout Serenade being at the bottom. I'd have both of them quite a bit higher up if I made my own list (especially Turnabout Corner actually, the Gang Wars plot featuring a wannabe Gangster as the defendant is way too funny for me to find the case as a whole forgettable, not to mention the Victim is unironically one of my favorites in the entire AJT, HE shoulda been the culprit instead of Alita Tialita). I'd have The Monstrous Turnabout at the bottom instead, altho even then this doesn'r say all that much because I think even *that* is a decent case.
@@Chazza_SR I completely understand. I'd have loved to meet more members of the Gavinners as well aside from Klavier himself and Daryan. Hell they even state *all* of them work for the law, so it's not even just those 2 who have importan jobs within' the world of AA. That for me is part of what causes me to rank it as my least favorite of the Apollo Justice cases, altho personally what bothers me *more* is the logic surrounding what made Machi be the defendant (yes, I know it gets explained, it was circumstancial evidence that caused it, but man if Machi's shoulder was also actually dislocated, it'd give more credence to him potentially firing the gun).
The "dARk AgE oF ThE laW" plot was wasted, it had so much potential but it was pushed in the last 2 cases so much ( i know turnabout academy exists but stfu for now ). In turnabout for tomorrow, he aka edgey explians why the "dARk AgE oF ThE laW" exist whit the wrongful conviction of simon and the disbarment of feenie but its hard to care when almost all its development is in the first aj and then turnabout for tomorrow ( also aristotle means but not to any crazy extents ). I mean i love turnabout for tomorrow but one small mistake ruined it and that being edgey not mentiong in the beginning of the game that he asked feenie to come back ( which is a stupid point btw ). As the main plot of the game, i didnt feel i was advancing the plot, i only kinda went through it, by that i mean, even if aura didn't force a retria, edgey wouldve found the truth, whit or whitout feenie or polly. Those are just my thoughts, now what are yours?
I feel the dark age of the law could of been better if they stopped using the phrase for a start and then if the they established the Phantom at the very beginning rather than eluding towards him in the fourth case and then his real appearance in 5th case, maybe they should of gave Fulbright an eerie side of the bat
Another problem with *Dark Age of the Law* is that we keep hearing about it but never actually see it in action. The closest we get is Aristotle Means, but he also only talks about it instead of doing anything. It's also really silly that Phoenix's disbarment and Blackquill's murder case are what started the thing. Like, do we pretend Manfred von Karma's murder didn't exist? Or Damon Gant. Or Godot. Or, a minor one, but still, Jacques Portsman.
I must confess he looks ... not great yet, I also can say the men simply just does his job and doesn't deserve the violence he recieves. He just should've reported about the new penguin enclosure or something, instant of getting mixed up in this Tragedy broken family that is the Gramaryes
VERY CORRECT ranking indeed I am OBVIOUSLY not disagreeing with some of them Seriously tho, I see your points and they are valid Here is my ranking from worst to best 16 Serenade 15 Succession 14 Monstrous 13 Academy 12 Trump 11 Corner(yes corner is better imo cause it is the most consistent, it actually felt like writers knew what they were doing from the start,even tho it is very boring) 10 Countdown 9 Storyteller(overhated imo) 8 Time traveller 7 Tomorrow 6 Rite 5 Cosmic 4 Foreign 3 Reclaimed 2 Revolution 1 Magical Im going to say this tho It felt like capcom knew what to do with apollo character in SOJ cause lets be real In AJ he is nothing character, in DD he has a backstory but it is so weak and SOJ well the story is focused on Apollo(Poor Athena tho) I hope that apollo/trucy story will be resolved in AA7
My hot take is that I don't really like turnabout succession. I understand why people like it- I think the story is good, I think the characters are interesting, I just don't have fun playing it 😭 it's the only final case that I never replay or watch an entire playthrough of because it's just not fun to me idk why
Im not that big of a fan of it either The only interesting parts for me is when we are playing as Phoenix the first day of investigation with Apollo is pretty boring the first day of trial is decent and the final trial after the mason system is kinda underwhelming since we as the player barely get any gameplay from it
