To my unprofessional understanding, in the Japanese legal system, the prosecution is allowed to refuse requests from the defense to view evidence initially. However all evidence still must be presented in a pre trial meeting, to all parties, so what Edgeworth did is completely illegal and has 0 validity in an actual legal trial. Unfortunately this also makes most of what Pheonix presents illegal as well. In America it's even worse as i believe it's illegal for the defense to not be presented with all evidence in general, before the trial begins.
In AJAA, she is top; if SOJ, Apollo is top. Ema's jaded cynicism and sarcastic demeanor would leave her wanting to take some control over herself, and the bashful newbie Apollo would want to stay on her good side by conceding to her wishes. However, that relationship gets flipped by SOJ as Ema cools down and Apollo's confidence rises.
