Nice video. I think though it leaves out one vital part for many/most people who are looking for information to restore an actual hardware computer, and that is the network-connectivity. Your guide assumes that the computer being restored to will have network connectivity to the Synology NAS where the ABB recovery images are stored. In my case it's a laptop relies on WiFi to connect to the NAS. There are no WiFi drivers in the default installation of the recovery tool. Only ethernet.
@Tech Me Out , Hi. Tell me please, i have HA OS - and already connected domain cloud flare from tunel - i used haos:8123/hassio/addon/cloudflare - installed - but i cant understand for what i need this dynamic dns A Record (yes i have dynamic ip with closed ports) - without this a record domain working good with my ha os + i add zero trust cloud - for more deffender and its working good. But now i have problem - i cant install some access from app Samrt Things to HA OS - because - zero trust closed all acces - only with sertificate and maild code access can come. Then i think your video can help fix it, but i dont know hox i do update from this a record, but another access should be from zero truss shield. Sorry for my bad english. If you can help me with some problem - give me please your mail or send msg there.
Loved the video, Avi! I like how Proxmox does it in terms of mounting it as storage. Makes it so much easier for the import process and you did a great job explaining some of the downfalls!
Good video, thanks. When you set up the firewall rules to allow traffic, does that mean that all the traffic from that subnet will always go through the VPN? Or do you need a rule saying everything from subnet x will always go through the VPN (and not through the local gateway)?
Synology really makes a substandard product. Its OS is light years behind what you could get on an entry level PC decades ago. The software is clumsy and inneficient. Service is nearly non-existant. Initial setup is fairly easy, and if you never had an issue with synology's backup programs, you'd be okay for a little while. But, if you need something out of the ordinary (like accessing a file or exporting files from the storage drive...wait, is that really unordianary?) you're SOL. Ask a question of the support folks and they'll provide you with endless links to other topics. In all the decades we've managed networks, this is the single worst product and software suite we've ever encountered, bar none! And for all the egghead fanboys of synology, stick it!
Hi. I fully respect your opinion and i believe its based on your experience so you won't hear a word of opposition from me. Its always amazing to see how people have such oposite opinions on the exact same topic or product. If you had to buy a NAS today? What would you choose?
Thanks for a great tutorial. If possible i would like to know how to setup and have a Synology NAS on the inside and reach it through the UDR from Internet
@@area51xi sorry I should’ve been more clear. In UniFi, if it’s not clearly defined as a VPN service, it’ll often show up as Wi-Fi calling. You can run a test in your environment, but that’s usually what it’s categorized as.
Great video, and easy to follow as you say. I've run PBS on a physical box for some time. When installing it on Synology, after reboot, I can't open the VM and login at the console. There is no login prompt at all. Is that something that the script did or is there an oddity that PBS is propagating because its on a virtual machine? Of course I can login through the Web portal and everything works fine, but if something went wrong, I'd have to dig into this issue to figure out how to login without the web console.
how can i do vlans? i want to connect a switch to the lan interface and then get clients on different vlans. do i need to do it on proxmox or is pfsense enough?
That is a great video! You gained on subscriber 😊 I have a small question concerning the bootable usb. I am backing up a window 10 and a window 11. Do I have to to do 2 USB bootable drive as my OS are different ? I also have Linux installed in my two pc (dual boots), Zorin distro, I guess I have to two a usb bootable for Linux as well… right ? Thanks !!
Going from 3TB to 4TB doesn't seem like it's worth the risk or the cost per TB gained. A larger jump in size has the same risk and effort but a lower cost per volume and is more future proof.
You are my hero! :-) I was struggeling for days! Because of this video I found the issue..... igb1 was my WAN and igb0 was my LAN. Why was it so hard to find this solution. Thanks again you have a new sub ;-)
Uhhh...even really old standards of WiFi are MUCH MUCH MUCH faster than Zigbee will ever be. The delay of Aqara sensors is not because they are WiFi based, that is for certain. It would appear the Sonoff includes some type of PIR motion sensing based on the two sensors showing in Home Assistant which is why it maybe so fast. The only Zigbee devices I have in my house are battery operated sensors like contact, humidity, leak detectors etc. All other smart home devices are WiFi based because they are faster and rock solid since my mesh WiFi coverage is excellent and able to support 1K+ devices which I will never hit. My WIFi presence sensors have a slight delay as well because they are mmwave which does not react as fast as PIR motion sensors. Except for Google speakers, ALL of my WiFi devices are running locally through Home Assistant. No need to use Zigbee if you want a local home automation setup. There are incorrect statements and assumptions throughout this video. People really shouldn't be publishing videos if they can't even get basic information correct.
I'm not getting the speeds claimed by Asus and I'm using WiFi 6 devices. Don't know whether the devices are AX devices. Virgin Media TiVo box, AudioPro A38, Asus ROG 3, Asus ROG 6D, Samsung Galaxy Tablet Tab 5. Roku 4K. I have two devices with 1200Mbps and 1300Mbps. That is Rog Phone 3 and TiVo box. My 6D sometimes says 1200Mbps link speeds bit then drops to 600 most of the time. Where is the claimed speeds I should be getting ???? 4500 Mbps - 4800 Mbps Also room directly below my router my AusioPro A38 speakers only get 50% signal and Virgin TiVo box only gets 62% signal. ???? What am I doing wrong. My house is old brick and plaster wall house.... If signal are this low in my small house how bad is it going to be in a large house. And Asus claims this device is for a very large house. I'm sorry what ??
If I already have another device that works as my coordinator (SonOff E for example) and I need to expand my ZigBee network with the SLZB-06, connected via ethernet cable (Connection mode: Ethernet) and working as a Router (Radio mode: ZigBee Router). Is it possible? 8:34
Avi! I LOVED THIS VIDEO! So well done and real world which gives it total validity. ABB is an awesome tool. I use it in my home to backup all my computers, NAS devices and with my clients as well. Absolutely, loved watching you smash the hard drive to ground. Laughed out loud on that one. Great way to show proof of concept and entertaining as hell. Awesome!
The only problem with Active Backup for Business is its name. I use it on my home network to backup all of our desktop PC's and laptops. Its brilliant. Easy to setup and easy to schedule for those computers that are typically running all day, most days of the week. For the occasional backup for seldom used computers, the manual backup is also dead easy. For your client, I would also have a Synology off site to backup the main NAS. Be sure to check in on ABB occasionally to ensure that backups are actually occurring. Not that I have ever had one missed unless it was offline.
This is a great video!! My question is how did you setup you management vlan. Does it connect to the lan port or to one of the other physical ports? Thanks.
Anybody having issues resolving windows DNS service to site2site remote subnets? My config works likely this video, however ( 53 UDP) dns or http (80) service is not getting any response from source server in the origin site. I assume its more related to inter-vlans rules but any of the suggestions rules work for me!!
I have the same presence sensor as you. But in home assistant it only shows occupancy and illumination, but yours is showing motion and occupancy why could that be
Hi, I have a Dream Router with UniFi OS 4.0.6, and I'm not seeing the "suspicious activity" selection in the Security Settings/Features page. Is this something that the Dream Router lacks that the Pro has? I received a notice from my ISP that I have what appears to be "malware" of some kind on my network, and I would like to see if I have any data points that look strange that might match up with their statement. Thanks!
Congrats for the video!, I am curious about if you have any blind / tubular motor with this hub.. I just got this hub and I added the zigbee motor without problem but when I share though matter to homekit or home assistant the "closed" means open, and open close.. any idea about this? thank you!!
Great video! Do you really need to reset the router to be adopted as an accesspoint? Reason for asking is I use the router when i'm on holiday (Starlink) and want it to plug it in at home (LAN port only) to act as an accesspoint only, without losing the whole config.
great video! on my device it shows "no" on both destination compression and destination encryption even though i checked enable data transfer compression and enable data transfer encryption on the settings for the task.
My main server (DS923+) is backed up to an onsite backup server (DS920+). The main server's backup folder is backed up off-site to a DS423+. I have about 8TB of data so C2 is expensive. The servers will be less expensive.
