It’s astonishing how little people know about cars. Even if your engine air intake is about 2 or. 2.5 ft above the ground if you pile the water up to the top of your grill you will suck water down your air intake. Got to go really slowly like 3 mph or less if water is like a foot deep.
I wonder if it is a crime to say to someone. Yhea its fine go on and than someone gets injurd or dies. What are the laws on coaching someone into a known accident.
IS A HYDROLOCKED ENGINE COVERED BY INSURANCE? Your insurance coverage depends on the policy that you’ve chosen. However, auto insurance typically covers hydrolocking if it happens because of flooding (assuming you have flood coverage). Insurance companies usually do not cover car problems caused by negligence or risky driving habits.
They probably have no idea how these vehicles work or even that they need air in vast quantities. I have met many people in my life who swell up with pride saying they have never looked under the bonnet of their car. In the UK it can often be a sort of affirmation of their social class implying they have other people to do these menial tasks. Knowing about things is not really considered good form for an English gentleman.
Hate to admit this but I suffered this fate in a Jaguar XJ40 20 yrs back. It was at night and pouring with rain so was not aware how deep the water was with the drains blocked with leaves, although saw the road was flooded and thought it would be a hoot to drive through fast. At the time I charged through the water and I never gave it a thought or even knew that the air intake pipe for the engine was quite low down in the engine bay. Even if it was high up....creating a bow wave like on this video is still going to suck in water. I was able to limp home a few hundred metres further up the road and the next morning took out the spark plugs and cranked the engine over and water gushed up out of the spark-plug holes like a sperm whale blowing its breather hole. "That's not good I thought". The engine was reconditioned, but what shocked me was when the mechanic showed me how the piston conrods were literally bent!.......really rammed home how incompressable water is. Needless to say won't do it again.
There's something called testosterone that would make a guy try to drive into the deepest part against the current. The women all want these guys, and we have to pay for their antecs, but hey, I'm "no fun at parties."
in the states police would be on scene, the road would be closed and there would be signs to warn you of deep water ahead. where are the authorities ???
Viele sind selber Schuld. Wasser im Ansaugtrakt, wenn der Motor läuft = nicht gut für den Motor. Flüssigkeiten lassen sich nicht verdichten. Gibt guten Salat aus Pleuel, Kolben usw..
